7nm or 3 nm, it does not matter. 60 Pro can handle faster speed than iPhone and other phones 5G chip made in China also has a new function, communication directly through satellites. That's the winner.
It's not really about the phone, it's more about whether China has the ability to manufacture these advanced, fast and energy-efficient chips all by themselves. For phones, like you're saying, 7nm is fine (and a huge breakthrough considering how quickly they seem to have got there!) but smaller processes open the door to other high-tech applications, without the West being able to control their access. Plus they can compete with TSMC and provide that access to others!
iPhones already allow for satellite calls, right? As an emergency thing, but they are capable of it. It's not something you'd want to use if you have any alternative anyway, them calls are pricey

Since it's a free SOS service I thought maybe they were limiting the bandwidth intentionally, but when they're talking about compressing tiny SMS messages 3x, for that to matter it must be really limited in hardware. So yeah, that's cool Huawei managed calls!
China created chips, Kirin 9000. Manufacturing is the issue. American can nto make it. Apple ask Taiwan company to manufacture. Biden pressure American puppet government in Taiwan to stop shipping to China. Chian has ability to make anything. @@cactustactics The phone uses the Tiantong satellite system for mobile communications. There are 3 satellites in geosynchronous orbit and they cover East Asia, the Middle East, Africa and most parts of the Pacific and Indian oceans.

The Current Chip dominance ( Japan, S.Korea, Taiwan and US ) will collapse like brick WALLS in the coming Years. Samsung has already made LOSSES in their latest quarter. TSMC main customer ( APPLE) will soon have to cut production as DEMAND from China and EU will DROP as the Mate60 Pro is a SIGNIFICANTLY better Phone than what APPLE have now. TSMC losses is likely to show in 2024. Just in time for Taiwan election.

It openly cites the appalling pollution conditions across China, not the least in Beijing, in the past. The message is that there's still a lot of work to be done. All this doesn't strike me as only praises.

Huawei has done more than that. they developed their own EDA, software to design chips, GPU, built-in antenna to transmit/receive satellite signals. Huawei sent engineers to work with SMIC to refine the process to produce chips on DUV lithography machine.
I didn't know that the whole country locked steps to produce the much needed 7 nm chips. Every country, including the US should emulate the Chinese model. Blowing out other's candle does not make yours brighter.
