Thanks for the clear video snd straight forward on the how to's on video game capture. I'm about to purchase a games capture device for my retro game, and think you aided me on my decision-thanks in advance.
That was a great video. One question. After you hooked up the elgato, how do u actually hook up your Xbox, would u just hook it up normally after that? Please answer as I am a bit lost
I'm going to start TH-cam in the near future and I already have an elgato, mic, etc. I didn't really know how to record so thank you soooo much bro I'm definently liking and subscribing and adding to favorites :)
+TheTechGuy600 Hello, thank you for this video. I was just wondering did you use the computers mic to add your audio in the video or did you use the Xbox headset with microphone? I do not have Elgato yet, getting in future, so sorry if this question sounds dumb. I am planning on making Console Game play on my channel. Thank you for reading this comment, Have a good day. I really hope you answer back.
Hey,i know this video is a bit old but for the HDMI cables,i understand that one comes with the elgato, but for the second one do i need to get a specfic version that has a different thing to the one that comes with the elgato or just any regular one that you can get at your local store?
Hey and by the way once you have finished recording and all that stuff and you finish the video where does the video show up on your console or PC or Mac
Thanks for the help. With the new xbox E is doesn't have the standard cords the other ones have. I was getting nervous thinking I might not be able to use it when I bought it. Thanks for the help!
Thanks for this! By the way, would you then need ANOTHER HDMI cable to connect to the TV? I'm confused on that bit! Or do you use one of the cables to connect to the elgato to the TV? PLS REPLY NEED HELP
Hi. Sorry, another question, you have plugged the second HDMI cable into the xbox, what do you do with the other end of the first HDMI cable that is pluged in next to the USB Port?? Thank you.
I have a problem, When I plug in the elgato and open up the setup thing it says please connect this with the elgato, so I plug it out then back in, then noting happens...
Hi TechGuy! I have a question. You have to get a strong PC, to capture gameplay? (Because my PC is veeery old.) I thought maybe the gameplay will be wrong, if I don't have the correct requirements to this gameplay recorder.
Well you do and you don't, You don't have to have a super high end PC to use this device but you don't want to have a super old one either. This capture device requires that the PC have a decent Video Card because with out it your PC would lag and not capture the gameplay correctly. In other words you need to have at least a PC with moderate specs.
Hi Tech Guy. Very useful, can you tell me: if I wish to record live commentary (as well the laptop pickup) do I plug my headphone (with mic) into the laptop or the elgato somewhere? Thanks If you can help. Cheers.
+Guy Incognito You will need to plug your mic into your computers mic port and then adjust the mic settings in the Elgato software so that the audio can be recorded live during the recording session.
Hey. Thanks for responding. I'm fairly new to this. I received a headset with a mic port when I got my 360. It appears to plug into the controller. Is this to be used when recording or is this merely for chat if you are group gaming? Thanks Mate.
What do you think would be a good laptop to use for this?? I was thinking a Mac as well like you have but they are expensive and apparently they are not good for gaming only editing, is this true?
OMG its Kermit a powerful laptop would be recommended. At leeast 8gb of ram and a quad core procer atleast @ 3.2 ghz. video card does not matter unledd you want yo game. This laptop should cost you around 400 - 700 dollars.
ImHoodStar Wait so I dont need like a gaming laptop to record with the elgato or do I need a gaming laptop to record because my laptop is not good at gaming and is not really meant for it.
Foureyes1121 It would be nice to have a powerful gaming laptop/pc that way you can still record and edit videos and also play games on your own time. So you have the bes tof both worlds. I recommend you get a gaming laptop.
Foureyes1121 gaming laptop isn't needed, but a computer with powerful parts is. Invest in finding really good parts. You need agood processor, An i5 or i7, You need at least 8GB of RAM that'll be the maing thing keeping programs like recording software stabilized.
This is probably a stupid question but... I have my desktop PC and my Xbox 360 hooked up to the same monitor. Does this mean I have to switch my input on my monitor every time I want to start/stop recording?
Do you have to have it hooked up to your computer while recording? Because my computer is in a different room and I can't bring it in my room. Does it just save on the elgato then I can bring it to the computer and continue from there?
+DaffeysGotStyle Get an extension cord that's long enough to plug in to your computer, then (if you can) duct tape the extension cord to your floor so no one trips over it. Hope this helps : )
Hello so I have a question I getting this bit I've notice that u need a hdmi and I want this to record my PC but my PC didn't have any HDMI outputs what could I do it only has usb outputs can u please help Thank u so much

If you plug in a regular xbox 360 mic, or a turtle beach headset, will it record your voice as well?
Hey,i know this video is a bit old but for the HDMI cables,i understand that one comes with the elgato, but for the second one do i need to get a specfic version that has a different thing to the one that comes with the elgato or just any regular one that you can get at your local store?

Yo Man great video I was wondering can you use your laptop ?? Its windows
When u were recording that video did u have to use a microphone or did it provide sound?
Thanks for this! By the way, would you then need ANOTHER HDMI cable to connect to the TV? I'm confused on that bit! Or do you use one of the cables to connect to the elgato to the TV? PLS REPLY NEED HELP
GameTitan74 Yep you will need a second HDMI cable to plug into the TV.
Is there a way to use a phone or tablet instead of a PC?
Barock Drone Bomba Unfortunately no. The software that is required to use this device only works on a PC.
This capture card is really good! I got it for 152€ (Approx. 167$)
And i am not dissapointed with my purchase!
Hey do you really need to have your Mac next to the Xbox or after you're done gaming can you plug it into your Mac separately?😕😐
So do the HDMI cords come separately ?
iv got the software but in the recording program it wont find to elgato? can you help?
Thanks I'm Getting a elgato soon so I wanted to learn how to hook it up
Hi. Sorry, another question, you have plugged the second HDMI cable into the xbox, what do you do with the other end of the first HDMI cable that is pluged in next to the USB Port?? Thank you.
First plugs into the computer
When you upload the vid does it show yourself in the corner ?
I'm not a genius. But i think you need a camera.
I have a problem, When I plug in the elgato and open up the setup thing it says please connect this with the elgato, so I plug it out then back in, then noting happens...

Guy Incognito That mic would be used for game chat and not recording.
Thanks! once i get my elgato ill look back on to this video!
+Gengar Gaming Glad I could help!
Thanks so much I am starting a gaming channel soon and this helped alot.
Hi TheTechGuy600, for the xbox 360, they have other wires that needed to be plug into the TV, what do i do with those wires?
Maybe I'm missing something but how do you disengage the HDCP Restriction? Both the 360 and PS3 both block recording via HDMI when I hook them up..
Does it record your voice or do you need to use a headset connected to your controller?
The first HDMi Cable. Where do you put the output of that in? The TV / Monitor?
What do you think would be a good laptop to use for this?? I was thinking a Mac as well like you have but they are expensive and apparently they are not good for gaming only editing, is this true?

Will the elgato record audio via your headset or will you need to set that up with something completely different? if so please let me know, thanks!
hey does the elgato record your voice and party chat voice? plz make a vid on that.
If you are chatting in a lobby in multiplayer, does it pick your voice up as well?
would it work to plug a dvi-d to hdmi cable with the dvid part to the tv and the hdmi part to the elgato?
Thanks man helped a lot but ten only thing is that an elgato is to expensive for me because I'm a kid
Do you use the same setup for live streaming?
You put the second hdmi cable in the Xbox then where do you put the first hdmi cable at. You said put the USB cord into your Mac or pc right
+thetechguy300 do all the cables come with the elgato?
Is there a way on the mac that you can see the game full screen or do you have to play looking at it through the Elgato software???? TheTechGuy600
BEST VIDEO ON TH-cam LITERALLY
TheTechGuy600 do you need the hdmi cables?
This is probably a stupid question but... I have my desktop PC and my Xbox 360 hooked up to the same monitor. Does this mean I have to switch my input on my monitor every time I want to start/stop recording?
do you have to have a amazing computer or can you have a second hand?
Did you only plugged the first hdmi cable on the elgato?
Do you have to have it hooked up to your computer while recording? Because my computer is in a different room and I can't bring it in my room. Does it just save on the elgato then I can bring it to the computer and continue from there?
***** So they all need to be hooked up together to record? I have a computer.
+KJDaay Yes
+DaffeysGotStyle Get an extension cord that's long enough to plug in to your computer, then (if you can) duct tape the extension cord to your floor so no one trips over it. Hope this helps : )

So if you plug in your hd to the elgato then the tv itself won't be HD will it? Or do you have to play through the computer?
The TV will still be in HD, depending on what you have your Xbox 360's resolution set at it will play in that resolution.

I have a question. My HDMI cable is plugged into my tv to allow the Xbox to be 1080p but if I take it out to put in the elgato hdmi cable how do I plug it into my tv with 1080p still?
