I now have a tad more confidence to try more aggressive cylinder work and machining. And if I junk a cylinder. I learnt something Thanks lads

If you know that your silicone will not be used for while you can put little bit of vaseline into the cap of the silicone tube when you put it on the shelf. It will help preventing it from hardening in the tube while storing it.

Love you’re videos IRONHORSE The best paper towel there is? Try the Caterpillar branded shop wipes. There is about 3 or 4 different styles and the come in light blue and white in a massive box. Lint free. Working for a cat dealer, we have to use this stuff to comply with Caterpillars contamination control guidelines in component assembly shops. I’m sure your local Cat Dealer will have them in stock. Let me know if you want the part number!
I just did my first actual Port work on an MS 170 that I picked up at a yard sale for 25 bucks need a fuel line in a couple other things I don't have a degree wheel so I just kind of Winged It I also ordered a 5 gallon bucket of 110 Sunco man don't that stuff smell good with that clots I watched a few of your past videos on porting the tree climbing saw for buckin Billy I think the steel I don't remember who it was for anyway the cylinders are very similar so I just followed your video work out pretty good watch it like 6 times in a row🤣
It's a real screamer with that muffler. He will be a happy man.I'm starting a job with mostly cherry that stuff cuts nice & easy. Got some big triples growing out of one trunk.those gonna b a challenge. Lol.

I do tree work for a living. I have a freshly rebuilt 372xp old edition. I'd love a port job to wake it up. I cut lots of wood and lots of tree stumps. And maybe the same thing on my 395XP. What's your rate for port work?
Harv, you said that the muffler gasket goes between the cylinder and the heat spreader plate, is that because you've put the custom muffler? Every OEM parts diagram has the gasket between the muffler and the plate, not between the plate and the cylinder?

And thinking of doing the 272 top end conversion it's one with a switch jst below the on of switch and I believe it's the switch is for heated Handel is that an American saw. An in scotland. It's all original same cylinder. Harvey or fam what would a need to change it to 272xp..?

Yes! The flange is very thick! Orem is opposite!
