I do think a chimed whistle is nicer to listen to, though, but hooters are possibly a bit better due to lack of melody to them. Although I quite like them all.
That is very true. I’m from America where our steam whistles tend too be a little bit louder and more rugged but also have more complexity with the tones that one whistle has. Steam engines from the uk tend too have more elegant sounding whistles but with less notes in one whistle. I love them both tho. My favorites are the a4 class and the southern pacific 4449 daylight.
The Power of the LMS Hooter from 48624 is EPIC at 2:17 and the Awesome Sound from the Flying Scotsman at 2:52. I loved Sir Nigel Gresleys Whistle and Union of South Africa’s whistle too💖 The Merchant Navy, Bullied Pacific Whistles sound EPIC when they are passing by and the LMS Hooters
Thank you very much David! With the RMT strikes cancelling Leanders tour to Scarborough this weekend I had the thought to make a whistles vid which popped in my head during the week haha! Glad you enjoyed it :)
These whistles are definitely a lot different then we have here in the U.S. but the are beautiful in their way! Also these steam locomotives are very clean!
Load bark of a Great western locomotive , shrill tones of a Southern followed by bass tones of the the LMS,topped by the classic chime of the LNER musical engineering!!

This reminds me how different American and British steam whistles are. Both beautiful in different ways.
Howdy doppelgänger. But yes, all steam whistles are quite enchanting over the _bleat_ that is the modern locomotive horn.
@@XanthinZarda ESPECIALLY when the same horn is used so commonly.

2:52 this shot of scotsman crossing the Bridge and blowing her whistle, remides me of the steam era back in the 1920 and 1930s!!
