If you redecorate, don't keep what you replaced. Give nice items to your kids(make sure they want them, lol!), or donate them. You probably won't use them again.
We ended up moving out of state and holy cow, did I minimize !! I had so many cook books and cooking magazines .. had them for years - DVDs and CDs , sold a lot online but donated a lot of stuff .. old books, decorations, etc.. sad it took me moving to do this , but so glad I did ! Thanks for this video !! Great ideas and so fun as always ! Just donate or recycle or toss - trust me- you won’t miss it !! I had a friend tell me to take a picture if something was sentimental, that way you have it . Lol I had a lot of old license plates too !! Love your videos !!! ❤️
If your appliance manuals are not online and you need to keep them, at least remove the sections that are in a foreign language! I reduced the pile to almost half with this one change. Great ideas and reminders ... thank you!
That's a wonderful idea. I do like having the hard copy, rather than depending on the computer, but getting rid of the 3 other foreign languages would make a huge difference. Thanks.
I just had to comment on the getting rid of (not knowing a better term, prom dresses.) I still have every one of my daughter's prom dresses, plus her homecoming queen dress, that I absolutely know that I don't need but it gives me comfort to look at them any time I want. It brings back memories of her as she was killed in a car accident at age 21, now 20 years ago.
I have a container with old cards and letters from the 70's many memories, baby shower cards, holiday, etc. I love it. Before Covid I would have said to donate your magazines to nursing homes for the residents. You'd be surprised how in need many of those places are, and books too. My friend and I switched left over new Christmas cards" for next Christmas, Also a good time to switch wrapping paper too, great idea for the garment bag/wrapping paper. Remotes can be donated to thrift stores Bird house roof =license plates 😊
We have been using wrapping paper that we bought on clearance from 3years ago. We have a cheer session when we finish up a roll! Great idea on the planners! I have a few to get rid of
I cut off the front of the card and use for gift tags the next year! Some cookbooks are sentimental.I agree with magazines, movies & planners, recycle! Great idea with the wrapping paper.
That’s my favorite movie too .💕💕💕 I just bought Jane Austen books all collection, and now I’m picking the movie from each book I like to put my DVD collection
This was excellent! I have had items from 1972 in my medicine cabinet! Good way to deal with old paint is to open and pour in kitty litter and let it soak up and dry up before throwing away.
After Christmas, our guest room exploded with leftover wrapping, bows, new gifts, and who knows what else lurks underneath the pile! 😬. You’re video motivated me to get cracking with cleaning and organizing! Loved the garment bag/wrapping paper idea, genius! Recently, my siblings moved after over 20 years in their house. You don’t wanna hear or see all they had to go through!! I just have to share this one funny story: my big sis, an avid recipe collector par excellence came across a note she had made to herself (in the middle of the recipe pile) while trying to de clutter. It read, “Left off here. June 2009”! 🤣😂🤣. Good news: she chucked all of them!!
I relate to your life in multiple ways. Tea Time; Pride and Prejudice (You must watch the long version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Elle); Military life; Traumatic Brain injury and more. I especially relate as a Christian with your laughter, frankness and love for the Lord and His plan! My husband is patient with me as he helps me through a brain injury I suffered 4 years ago. We face it with laughter and totally relate to your attitude in all aspects.
Another good tip for things you want to keep the memory associated with the item is to take a photo of it. That is what photos are for is for memories, so take a picture of that greeting card etc.... It helps with the guilt associated with decluttering items that hold meaning.
Before throwing out a planner, look through it and see if anything should migrate to the next year. Also, ask yourself if it is a time capsule of the past year. I have several from college in the 1980s as well as some from the 1990s, and love looking through them as it brings back incredible memories of people, places, and events.
BRILLIANT Video Guys ! I try and use whats in my food cupboard & freezer before I buy more. Simply by planning meals better. When kids little I always did it when we had a lot of bills, but now its more before useby dates are up. Cook that pkt of cake mix ! If you dont eat freeze in slices.
Lost socks and rags make great fire starters if you have a wood fire. Magazines can be donated to a nursing home or Health clinic and Thrift shops sell them too. Kindergartens will take the fronts of old Christmas cards.
As a nurse I can tell you that medications are good way beyond their expiration dates. The worse that happens is the strength may ebb as time goes by. But, pharmaceutical companies love for you to throw stuff out......big money. Same with expired food, to a point. There is good info on this online.
I HATE tangled wire hangers, but my husband might need to leave town before I get rid of more of them. On the other hand, my mother passed away several years ago. I love looking at some of her old planners! I do keep my wrapping paper, but I love your storage idea. WIN WIN - I didn't buy any wrapping paper this year AT ALL because I could find it. The church is having a garage sale next month. Time to get BUSY.
Loved this video, I could really relate ❗️I have also kept most of the things you talked about. Thank you for giving me the desire to get ride of all this stuff.😊 I watched the video when you told us that both you and Jason are Born Again Believers.👏👏👏 I am to and I was so excited to here that you both know the Lord.❗️Prayers for you both🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great list! Planners are a keeper or at least a lot of the pages are keepers since they are a record of doctor's appointments, meetings, weddings, etc. Relying on things being on line is a problem too. Don't trust technology with things you need.
I love this! I actually stopped the video twice to go and throw away my old spices and small kitchen appliances that we never use. Thanks for the motivation!
I am feeling quite chuffed with myself, I have done most of your suggestions during lockdown, in the UK, so I am on top of it, I replied to your daughter’s comment, my loft is full of my children’s toys, the only thing I covet! Keep the Polly’s 😂. In the UK we have a website called Freecycle do you have similar in the US? you list anything unwanted on there, people respond and come to your home to collect them, great for unwanted larger items that still have life, cookers, carpets, bikes, cots, prams, sofas, beds etc, small household items too! I love it!!! Thank you both for your enthusiasm 😊
We have think we have Freecycle in the US too. We have online garage sales and trash to treasure online sites for each community. Your trash may be someone else's treasure, but that does not mean keep it until someone will take it.
Oh my goodness I think I have just about everything you named!! Bahahaha Except I definitely can’t get rid of those craft supplies!! You never know when I might need that piece of felt!! 😜 I do have a tendency to hang on to too much stuff. I really do need to declutter.....some day! 🤣
OmG I hoard these things too Leslie! 🤦♀️ Glad I'm not alone. I keep these for same reasons. (I will need this one day) 😏 I started some of the decluttering, but have a long way to go. All the magazines & cookbooks I have is Crazy! Thank you for encouraging me & your inspiration on so much. Jason cracked me up when he was modeling those glasses... & @ the end of video. Those faces he makes .... had me Lol. Have a beautiful day you two!
I remember one year I bought some Christmas decoration and crafts because they were 75% off. I still don't even know what the craft items are used for. I would throw them away, but they are deep in the heart of my garage jungle. If I ever make it to the interior, I will definitely do some major weeding. I really enjoyed this video. You have some great ideas and a wonderful assistant to help you with your presentation!
I just started to clean out my craft room. What a nightmare! We have been trying to declutter. You find things you were looking for!!! Your husband is too funny!
You know you're good when folks WANT to declutter because they've watched your video! Excellent reminders as well as some "ahas"! Love the two of you together also. Blessings.
Great tips. I've been de-cluttering for several years now. I got back and do places again. I got my garage cleaned big time last October. I still have work to do out there, but wow it was amazing.
Hi LOVE all of your videos. They are a treat to watch. Just a few comments on the "declutter". I use my old license plates for roofs on bird houses I find at estates sales, etc. All of the greeting cards i CAN part with I tear them in half and use the blank sides for shopping lists. The list stands up in your cart and is easy to read. Last but not least....had to laugh with the umbrella as I live in the High Desert and when it actually does rain here I just go out and stand in it. ha ha. We have had 2 rain days here and 2 snow days all winter long. Once again, you are an inspiration to me.
Love your tips for decluttering! Jason cracks me up! We started in our garage three days ago. We went from 30 big totes down to 20, just Christmas stuff! We are big readers and have so many books. But I need to get rid of some, like cookbooks! We already go through our clothes and shoes every six months! My craft room is always a mess and need to do a major cleanup, throw out, or donate. God bless you both!💕👍🏻
You can find wooden, velvet, plastic...any kind of hangers at Goodwill or other thrift stores for a fraction of regulars stores. Always check there first!
Get an IR blaster. I bought two. Only the USB C one worked. The one for mini jack did not. An IR blaster is so useful. A remote that died, or you're somewhere else and the remotes did a walkabout? You've got it! Mine lives in my adapter pouch that always goes with me when I travel.
I did a lot of these already and yesterday threw out at least 20 lbs of expired food. Also yesterday I schlepped 10 years worth of old Christmas cards to the dumpster. I am very sentimental.
Thanks for the details! Several things not mentioned by others. What do I like to get rid of? Nothing! That is why I watch videos like this! Surely I will find something to discard!
I love the paint idea because I have lots of paint stored in the house thought I had to throw it away. The silver dress, I want it I can fit it really. You have great taste
I LOVE your videos. They are so inspiring, and uplifting. You are an amazing decorator, and your style is in incredible. It’s fun to know you are also in the midwest, as we are. Thank you so much!
Two tips, chargers get sticky labels with what it goes too. Also back of tv, labels and before you unplug things take a photo of how it was. Battery operated vacuums, buy a spare so you don’t have to wait on charge. Manuals, if it is online, bookmark it,p or email the link to yourself with description of appliance, etc. I am in the process of scanning my photos and putting in online folders, backing up on CD and store one copy with family or bank safety deposit box. If you have a lot of jewelry necklaces and like certain lengths. Slide pendant off and sell extra chains, just did that for $1,900 and I can just use chains I like for pendants. All I can think of right now.
Liked your tip about storing gift wrapping paper in a garment bag but all your ideas are great. Have just got rid of unwanted storage containers many of them without lids. You and Jason are so cool together and have a great sense of humor! Best wishes from NZ
Good catch Jason 😀 Like the wrapping paper storage idea! Jason has a great sense of humour...(business card LOL) I can see he’s kept you laughing through the years together. Ok... going to tear apart laundry room now for a good clear out! Thanks for the motivation!
I’m so glad I found you . Ty for raising awareness on the type of dementia your husband has and sharing with all of us . I pray for you and your family . The attitude you possess is amazing . And lastly , loved your declutter video . I’m basically very much like you when it comes to organization ( I’m a Virgo) lol looking forward to videos to come 🌻🌻🌻
Great episode. Our local care home really appreciates old, but not tatty, magazines. The residents really appreciate them. Obviously not during Covid but at other times it was fine.
I had to chuckle a bit when I saw the title of this video with Jason in the shot. Made me think Jason was either one of or possibly the first thing to get rid of in 2121!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi! This is a cute video. I have a few suggestions that is use/do. I have not purchased wrapping paper in about 10 yrs. I buy plain white or brown gift bags in large quantities. I dress them up with ribbon or tulle. I do have a cabinet with older cookbooks - but they have sentimental value with notes. There is a Market Place on FB to sell them...as there are many cookbook collectors. I keep our extra paint labeled and tucked under our basement stairs...yes I have used it. When I am clearing out kitchen utensil drawers, I put the stuff in a shallow box on the kitchen counter when my young adult kids are coming for dinner - it disappears! I have OTC medications on a turntable in a cabinet. I pitch old stuff about every 2 months. Just a few things I do. I am in the process of designing a wall unit for my sewing area... excited as things are all over the place! Now what do you do with all those old pens?!?!
License Plates some DMV's takie them back, or offer them up for free on FB for crafters. Specialized appliances can go to goodwill if they still work. Wire hangers can often be recycled or taken back to the dry cleaners or used by crafters. Expired makeup, check the companies webpages, some have recycling. ReCycle, Reuse, Reduce!! Small size condiments, don't bring them home to begin with. I tell them exactly what I need. Offer old games to crafters as well, Donate extra craft supplies to a teacher. Paint shops often take paint back, they have often have recycle programs! GREAT Times!! Thanks for sharing.
Greeting cards ... you can always take a pic of the front and the sentiment...helps you feel a tad less guilty. Love your videos ... always informative and uplifting. Keep being that great team together 😃
I love the idea of putting wrapping paper in a garment bag! Fantastic idea, thanks! I find that after special occasions, like Christmas, I have a bunch of taper candle stubs that for some reason I pile in a drawer. What for? I always light new ones. GONE!
I'm going to start with my winter clothes - sweaters, etc since they are collecting them locally until the end of January. I'm also attacking my sewing room since it is the catch-all room.
Loved your video Leslie ! It got me in the mood to tackle a clutter spot! I have a tip with what I do with my Christmas cards . I cut off the picture >>>>as long as there’s no handwriting on the opposite side . Then when I’m giving a present wrapped in a giftbag I punch a hole in the corner and attach with ribbon and write to and from on the back . And if it’s a wrapped gift I write to and from and tuck it under the ribbon on gift . 💝🇨🇦
You guys are too cute! When you mentioned cookbooks I immediately remembered I had a brand new cupcake cookbook that my granddaughter would love. She got baking equipment and decorating supplies for Christmas😊. And I love the garment bag idea for wrapping paper! Got my list ready to go for tomorrow a.m. Great tips!
Oh my, I laughed when I saw Jason’s glasses, I have a pair with no lense and I hardly ever wear them but hate to spend the money on myself. And oh my I need Togo through cookbooks and magazines, I have so many. All good ideas- great video
Omg I need more of these videos and more in depth of what to do with stuff you don't want to throw out. I feel like such a hoarder. What do you do with all of your children's memorabilia? I got four kids and a very tiny house I need help! Absolutely adore you two!
I hate storing Christmas wrapping paper every year, but also feel guilty getting rid of it because I paid money for it. This year I decided the extra space is more important than the few bucks I spent on paper and bows. So I put it for free on our local marketplace site and it was snatched up within seconds. Turned out to be a young mom I know:)
What is the number one thing you love to declutter for the new year? I love hearing others ideas!! 😊👏
Number one decluttering for me, empty the dishwasher, and reload it!😘😘Nana Janet
If you redecorate, don't keep what you replaced. Give nice items to your kids(make sure they want them, lol!), or donate them. You probably won't use them again.
My 2 spare rooms that have become storage units. Time to purge!
Love me some Marie Condo ! She helped me a lot ! You have also ! And you’re both so darn cute !!!❤️
If your appliance manuals are not online and you need to keep them, at least remove the sections that are in a foreign language! I reduced the pile to almost half with this one change. Great ideas and reminders ... thank you!
Great Idea!
Scan them onto your computer if you can.
That's a wonderful idea. I do like having the hard copy, rather than depending on the computer, but getting rid of the 3 other foreign languages would make a huge difference. Thanks.
Love this idea! Thank you!
This is an amazing idea. Ty

It brings back memories of her as she was killed in a car accident at age 21, now 20 years ago.
I"m so sorry for your loss 💖 that's definitely a good reason to hold on to them.
Remotes can be donated to thrift stores
Bird house roof =license plates 😊
We have been using wrapping paper that we bought on clearance from 3years ago. We have a cheer session when we finish up a roll! Great idea on the planners! I have a few to get rid of
Jason, the one that spoke to me the most was the "old glasses"!
I cut off the front of the card and use for gift tags the next year! Some cookbooks are sentimental.I agree with magazines, movies & planners, recycle! Great idea with the wrapping paper.
Gift tags cute idea 😀
Omg! I LOVVEEE Pride and Prejudice..... and Mr. Darcy is soooooo swoon worthy.
Garment bag idea is good. I'm gonna use it.
Love the lost sock display and decision to throw them out!
Pride and Prejudice (2005) is my favorite movie ever as well!!
Did not know about paint, great to know it is good for 10 years.
Wrapping paper storage is a great idea.
That is my favorite movie also. Love Mr Darcy.
I keep a small stash of wire hangers, for marshmallow roasting or just when you need 'wire' for something.
I love that movie too. I watched it again recently.
Love Jason's helpful suggestions for disposing of paint!
Another good tip for things you want to keep the memory associated with the item is to take a photo of it. That is what photos are for is for memories, so take a picture of that greeting card etc....
It helps with the guilt associated with decluttering items that hold meaning.
That’s a great idea!! 💖
I do that, and it definitely helps get rid of things while keeping the memories.
Before throwing out a planner, look through it and see if anything should migrate to the next year. Also, ask yourself if it is a time capsule of the past year. I have several from college in the 1980s as well as some from the 1990s, and love looking through them as it brings back incredible memories of people, places, and events.
Same here. Brings back memories 😃
Wrapping paper storage - Brilliant! I have calendars going back over ten years😬 I will now shred!
Loved this video, I could really relate ❗️I have also kept most of the things you talked about.
That is awesome!
I am feeling quite chuffed with myself, I have done most of your suggestions during lockdown, in the UK, so I am on top of it, I replied to your daughter’s comment, my loft is full of my children’s toys, the only thing I covet! @@kimberlyballes1161 My limit is a week, no takers, off to good will or recycling bin, when we are not in lockdown, that is 😊
Great tips. Some of these are no brainers but ya know how that goes. We just keep over looking it.
I NEED that lost sock basket!!!
You have an awesome idea about wrapping paper! Now I need to clean my closet to hang them up! Not EVEN kidding!
I'm glad you guys are enjoying doing things together.
Oh my goodness I think I have just about everything you named!! Bahahaha Except I definitely can’t get rid of those craft supplies!! You never know when I might need that piece of felt!! 😜 I do have a tendency to hang on to too much stuff. I really do need to declutter.....some day! 🤣

LOL thank you!! He's so funny! When we are filming, I never have any idea what's about to come out of his mouth! 😂

I’m gonna keep watching but I’m so distracted by your gorgeous hair. 😃 Glorious. ❤️ Had to comment.
Haha I love it! 🥰 thank you!!!
Yes, she does have beautiful hair, doesn’t she?
Hi LOVE all of your videos. They are a treat to watch. Just a few comments on the "declutter". Love how you made such a mundane topic so fun and entertaining! Now I want to go declutter. Thanks for the inspiration. 👍
I keep my wrapping paper in a new plastic garage can in the back of my coat closet along with my birthday paper :)
You can find wooden, velvet, plastic...any kind of hangers at Goodwill or other thrift stores for a fraction of regulars stores. Always check there first!

Wonderful!
Liked your tip about storing gift wrapping paper in a garment bag but all your ideas are great. Have just got rid of unwanted storage containers many of them without lids. You and Jason are so cool together and have a great sense of humor! Best wishes from NZ
Thank you so much!!!
Great tips! I need to get rid of paint cans for sure!
Very helpful, I’ve got some work to do!😁 You two are the cutest, always smiling and laughing 😘
We did our garage! I got motivation from your garage video. My son helped me.
That is awesome!
Good catch Jason 😀 Like the wrapping paper storage idea! Jason has a great sense of humour...(business card LOL) I can see he’s kept you laughing through the years together. Ok... going to tear apart laundry room now for a good clear out! Thanks for the motivation!

Thank you so much! I"m so glad you found our channel also! We appreciate you watching! Have a wonderful day!! 💖😊
I just went through all of my plastic bowls and threw odd lids and unused bowls away. It’s really satisfying when you do that.
Great episode. Our local care home really appreciates old, but not tatty, magazines. The residents really appreciate them. Obviously not during Covid but at other times it was fine.
You two are great and so much fun to watch. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks great video. Very helpful.
Fantastic!!! Thank you for all the tips. Gonna do them one by one. Love you both.
That's awesome!!! Let me know how it goes! 💖
Great list! Great to see you both!
Greeting cards ... you can always take a pic of the front and the sentiment...helps you feel a tad less guilty. Love your videos ... always informative and uplifting. Keep being that great team together 😃
You two are so fun!
I love the idea of putting wrapping paper in a garment bag! Fantastic idea, thanks! I find that after special occasions, like Christmas, I have a bunch of taper candle stubs that for some reason I pile in a drawer. What for? I always light new ones. GONE!
I love his tips for getting rid of old paint 🤣 great video and great tips!
Love you and Jason
Thank you very much for the helpful video. You two are so cute! Best wishes to you!
AMAZING! I am making that whole dinner this weekend. Great job Jason 😍
For the cords, I printed labels for every detachable cord in the house! Life saver, several times. especially good when moving.
I just changed my furnace filter yesterday. 🇨🇦
I'm going to start with my winter clothes - sweaters, etc since they are collecting them locally until the end of January. I'm also attacking my sewing room since it is the catch-all room.
Oh my gosh, Yes!!! So many great suggestions!!! I declutter ALL the time!!!
Your house always looks so neat and tidy! I had a feeling you were someone who likes to declutter! 💖🙌
@@ACharmingAbode It's funny, I love "things" but clutter makes me nervous 🙃
Just found your site and what a wonderful reminder. Never to late to start and I plan to do before the holidays and again at the 1st of the year, TFS
Welcome to my channel! 💖
I think I'm guilty of having most of these. Thanks for inspiring me to get going!
Your favorite movie is the same as mine!
Great ideas as usual!
Great tips!
Jason you're hilarious.
They most are.....She has the Best laugh.🤗
💖
Awesome video! I’m guilty of quite a few of these home clutters...is that a word?! 😬
So cute....a grandma
Oh my, I laughed when I saw Jason’s glasses, I have a pair with no lense and I hardly ever wear them but hate to spend the money on myself. And oh my I need Togo through cookbooks and magazines, I have so many. All good ideas- great video
Omg I need more of these videos and more in depth of what to do with stuff you don't want to throw out. I feel like such a hoarder. What do you do with all of your children's memorabilia? I got four kids and a very tiny house I need help! Absolutely adore you two!
I am new to your channel and just want you to know I love it so far! Thank you for such positive content and for sharing with us.
Thank you so much 😊 and welcome to my channel 💕
Another good place to donate clothing and formals is to your community theatre for costumes
You two are adorable!
