Great video guys! Have you thought about getting lavalier mics instead? I've just purchased one myself and it's a real gamechanger when trying to film good quality audio while out hiking!
Hello guys! Thank you so much! We actually have one lav mic (Rode SmartLav+) and we do use it in a few videos, when there's just one of us talking, but it's difficult when there's two of us in the shot. The other issue is that we would still need to record audio externally and then sync in post. Yeah, I agree, they are really good for improving the audio of any built-in mic. There is a solution which we are looking at, which is a wireless lav system that can take two transmitters. Saramonic and Comica both have good options but ideally I want Rode to release a new Wireless Go!
@@PitchAndPaws Ah, I went for the Tascam dr10l and would probably get a second for multiple people but usually it's just me talking in videos! I looked at the Rode wireless one but figured it would be harder to charge both components while hiking/wild camping (once we're allowed out properly again of course!) compared to the Tascam, which just takes a AAA battery! I'm excited to see what adventures you get up to this year. How are lockdown restrictions for you at the moment?
We had never seen that Tascam before so thank you for letting us know about it. It looks so compact! The Tascams we used in the past were the size of two stacked iPhones (DR40X). I've added it to our Amazon watch list so I'll be watching reviews on these little bad boys over the coming days. Very interesting that it takes AAA batteries. Much easier to carry spares! The restrictions are not allowing any real adventures to be had yet but it's not terrible either. You're still allowed a daily walk and you can go 5 miles out of your council's boundary but what we noticed happening is that all the good walking spots are absolutely packed with people especially on the weekends. How about you guys?
@@PitchAndPaws I've been using mine to film a vlog this week and honestly the quality is AMAZING in my opinion! Yes the fact it takes a single AAA battery and is so compact were two of my deciding factors, it's so easy to carry about. I need to get rechargeable AAA batteries for the future but it's so much less hassle than having specific wires and chargers to cart around! We're supposed to stay 'local' but there's no concrete definition of what 'local' is. The guidelines say to stick to your town or part of the city but where we are that translates into literally maybe 3 blocks? Plymouth is such a small city compared to say London! Yes we have the same problem at weekends, everywhere is packed.
