I imagine it could be done if you use a chisel to create a mortise where the hinge would sit on the inside.

Very nice. I wish there was something else to act as a hing. The ones you have on the box don't really fit with the integrity of the heart shaped box.

I concur. The brass hinges on the outside look clunky. You would have been better off with no hinges and just had an insert on the bottom of the lid to position it.
