Hello Daniel, Really love all the videos and the breakdown of all the cards; I have learned a lot about credit points from your videos. If I were to apply for an Amex Platinum, would I still get the welcome offer on platinum considering that I already have the Amex Gold?
Hi Daniel! New subscriber here... great information, thank you! I cannot find any discussions regarding the strategy on how to obtain the Amex Hilton cards in the bottom up order to maximize welcome bonuses. I plan on going to a Hilton resort in March and would like to have as many Hilton points as possible, as well as their top status, by means of the Aspire card. I believe I can apply for the base Hilton card, then the Surpass, then the Aspire. What I am uncertain of is the timing. I'd like to go for each at their current hi-level welcome bonuses. Yeah I've made this video on how I use a custom budgeting template that you can download for free: th-cam.com/video/_JBxP_oz2kQ/w-d-xo.html I use that template in combination with Rocket Money now because I have a lot of cards and the Rocket Money app helps me to see all of my transactions in one place really quickly. Then I just change all of my credit card due dates to fall on the same day which makes it easy to make sure that I'm always paying off each one in full. If you're going to have multiple cards and worry about getting overwhelmed and losing track of things, then my best advice is to start out slow and see what feels comfortable. Hope that helps!
I was shocked at your positive take on the chase quarterly categories for this quarter! I thought it was complete garbage. But I get what you’re saying. Personally I have Silver status until the end of this year and I haven't found it worth it for my uses. Some other people may find value here and there with higher levels of Bilt status, but the only thing I would really want is the elevated transfer rates. Only problem is that those occasional elevated rates are on the first day of the month only and I don't really like to transfer speculatively (prefer to transfer at the time that I need to book and find award space). Citi Custom Cash could be great for Home Depot actually! 5% back (really 5x Citi points) per dollar on $500 of spending in top eligible category each billing cycle. And home improvement stores are one of those categories. So if you use the Custom Cash for only Home Depot purchases then you’ll lock that in as you’re highest spend category by default. Not sure if they will change anything with the It card if the acquisition is completed. We'll have to wait and see, but I'm curious how everything would go!
Initial thoughts are that this could be a really really good cash back option for someone willing to switch over some assets to US Bank. Up to 4% cash back on everything is outstanding! Going to talk about it in more detail once the card launches
That was actually only in one video about a year and a half ago where I did that. A bit of a longer story to explain better than I can in a comment haha. But long story short, kind of a misunderstanding on my part and I've continued talking about Discover in plenty of videos over the past year. Definitely always been one of the best cash back cards and happy to have it after all these years! 👍
@@Daniel_Braun It is indeed a great card, especially for students just get the SSN and its cash back match in the first year! Thank you for the content!
What about the Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express, I know it does not earn any amex points but still a good card right? Also whats going to happen to the discover cards now that Capital One has bought them?
Still a very good card for cash back purposes! But for me, I'm focusing mostly on earning points and miles for travel and so there's just better options than that. The Discover it works great for cash back right now because of the 5% multiplier as well as the first year cash back match. And only time will tell what will happen if and when the acquisition is completed! Lots of stuff to speculate about but no one truly knows
Can someone tell me how it works with annual fees and offsetting those annual fees with the credits? Is it just the annual fee is offset because they put the credit amount on the card or do you pay the annual fee and you just use the credits so that it evens out as if you didn’t pay as much? Really would appreciate any explanation!
@@Daniel_Braun Oh nice! (Context why I was jokingly asking, Joe Barreto mentioned you on his live stream how tall you were and how Spencer wasn't haha)
Haha I figured it was probably something in reference to the New Orleans meetup! Yeah I’m definitely taller than most people expected when I met everyone in person 😂
From my understanding, you put the Amex down on your Resy account, and paying with the card at a restaurant that’s on Resy will trigger the credit as a statement credit.
Was Discover generous with your credit limit? Im considering either that or the freedom flex to complete my chase trifecta but unsure which one to get first. I got an invitation email for the flex recently.
They were pretty good - got a $10,000 limit but I don't really need anything super high. I think the Freedom Flex is the better card overall because the points are more valuable than cash back if used correctly - but you I think it's worth it to have both cards in the end
Not sure honestly because the card is still new. Could be an option after having it for 1 year, but product changing under 1 year is usually not an option. I was able to product change my Wells Fargo student credit card to the Active Cash, so they do allow certain product changes
Can you do a video comparing the gold card and the sapphire preferred? I’m debating between the two, gold kind of makes more sense for me especially since there is a 90k point bonus rn. But I have 100k+ chase points, so I’m not sure what to do. Thanks!
I personally think everyone should get the Sapphire Preferred at some point to take advantage of at least the sign up bonus on that card. Could always downgrade after a year if it’s not worth the annual fee anymore. If the Amex Gold makes sense with the credits then also a good card to pick up later on as well. I wouldn’t worry about the offers because Amex always seems to running good ones 👍
Chase closed all 3 of my credit cards, and an investment account bc I said I hoped someone brings a gun to their office on an online survey review lmao

What are we thinking about US Bank Smartly???? Need to know your thoughts
Initial thoughts are that this could be a really really good cash back option for someone willing to switch over some assets to US Bank. Up to 4% cash back on everything is outstanding! Going to talk about it in more detail once the card launches
I see Citi refers to 'Points' and 'Thank you Points'. Are they the same thing?
Does Discover finally approve content creators to mention them on TH-cam? I remember you blacked it out on previous radios
What if your rent provider charges a 3% fee on your rent for BILT
Every rent provider does that - but that’s the benefit of the card because Bilt covers that fee for you
No Amex Platinum? 🍷🤙
That's a BIG dog 🐕😳😳
He's about 50 pounds right now but should be getting a little bigger!
Get and review a Credit One Bank card just for giggles🤣
The real serious question is, how tall is Daniel Braun?
If you guess correctly then I'll tell you haha
@@Daniel_Braun haha, 6’3”???
@@soapa4279 You pretty much got it! 6'4"
Great video! How do you use your Resy credits? Isn’t Resy just for booking free reservations? Trying to justify the Amex Gold
From my understanding, you put the Amex down on your Resy account, and paying with the card at a restaurant that’s on Resy will trigger the credit as a statement credit.
You just go to a restaurant that is listed on Resy and you pay for your bill with the Gold card. No reservation required.
I'm waiting for one of these credit card TH-camrs to do a "Whats in my Wallet" videos.....and just pull out a stack of $100's
💸💸💸💸
Sounds like the perfect joke for a future what's in my wallet video hahaha
Was Discover generous with your credit limit? Im considering either that or the freedom flex to complete my chase trifecta but unsure which one to get first. I got an invitation email for the flex recently.
They were pretty good - got a $10,000 limit but I don't really need anything super high. I think the Freedom Flex is the better card overall because the points are more valuable than cash back if used correctly - but you I think it's worth it to have both cards in the end
@@Daniel_Braun You are the man! Your videos got me into this game in the first place. Thank you.
Can we downgrade the wells fargo autograph journey to the normal journey one, I contacted the bank they said you can’t.
Not sure honestly because the card is still new. Could be an option after having it for 1 year, but product changing under 1 year is usually not an option. I was able to product change my Wells Fargo student credit card to the Active Cash, so they do allow certain product changes
Now we need a "what's in my wifes wallet" video lol
I agree haha - a good future video idea!
HI
Hi
Hi 👋
@@Daniel_Braun Thank you!
Chase closed all 3 of my credit cards, and an investment account bc I said I hoped someone brings a gun to their office on an online survey review lmao
Time to grow up huh?
@@daw7773 nah, I got an amex and chase supports genocide and I still got to use my points. There are no negative downsides to this.
Grow up man
👍🏻
Thanks as always for stopping by!
Philadelphia area ....Yikes
The best city in my opinion! My home city
Get pet insurance!
There’s no way you don’t use the $10/m at five guys (even tho shake shack was WAY better).
Five guys is loaded with peanuts everywhere and peanut oil - and unfortunately I'm deathly allergic haha. So never gonna use that, but I do use Grubhub from time to time. Very rarely though so I don't value it in my expectatons
@@Daniel_Braun oh that sucks man sorry to hear /:
@@Isaiah094 it’s all good! Luckily I’ve had it my whole life so I don’t have to feel bad about missing out 😂
Too messey
I like this guy's videos but his face makes me angry
Time for some plastic surgery then
Wtf? 😂
Buying a house next year could be a great idea! Rates are starting to go down and inflation too. Great cards and strategy Daniel, thanks for the detailed overview!🫵
Thanks Cesar! Yeah hopefully everything will work out and we’ll find a good house for a good deal!
Same crap just recycled
Lighten up bro, it’s just TH-cam
If you watch the whole video you'll see that I give new context for different updates in my wallet setup. I understand that I make these wallet updates every quarter, but I only keep making them because people choose to watch them. If that ever changes then I'll stop making them, so it's pretty simple.
No hard feelings if you choose to pass on watching these wallet updates, but just wanted to give you the full picture of it 👍
@@Daniel_BraunIt's easy to focus on the haters. Don't pay him too much attention. IDK what he's expecting, as if you would be rotating out 5 cards every quarter.
I personally find these updates interesting and the consistency adds credibility, if anything. Some of these other TH-camrs are out here chasing every new card that drops with affiliate links and it's impossible to know if they're actually giving out tips or selling something...
Anyway, thanks for the video Daniel! I always appreciate these. Best of luck to you and P2 on next year's house hunt!
@@HspncAt7heDisco Thank you for saying all of that! Yeah I like to say that my message has always been very consistent in my content, and it's all out there going back to 2021. So to me I think these wallet updates are valuable to make and I've organized them into a playlist as well. Thanks again - and yeah hopefully we'll get a good house if everything works out well next year!
Something great about the discover card that I don’t see any talk about is the 10% boost when redeeming cash back for gift cards. Basically redeeming $100 in gift cards will give you a $110 gift card.
Yeah my wife has done that before when she's had cash back and was planning to spend money on something covered by the gift cards they offer. Definitely an underrated option, so thanks for commenting!
