FYI.... for a V8 to have the same smooth header exhaust flow that a inline 6 achieves naturally by it's design, you must have a set of 180 degree headers. These are usually custom designed and primarily for racing. Look into it. It explains why the sound is so good.
Yep definitely a necessity. I did that in the first part of the video but didn't really record because I had too much going on trying to keep that rpm up
@@ivanpudge1187 my off the shelf comp cams 268 work and has a nice chop too it but if I were to do it again I would find a company I can't remember the name to make you a custom grind with the characteristics you want. Get a lot more chomp out of it
@@dilbeck6785 I know yours is carved but do you know anything bout camming a EFI setup with auto trans? What all is needed to be done for it to be successful and what if I'm trying to produce more power instead of just having a loud idle
Looks like you're having fun with your pickup. I have been running a BBC in my '71 F250 highboy since 1979. My next move is going to be swapping in a 4.2L Vortec. Unmodified the 2006-'07 are 290 hp.
Moving the exhaust away from the intake manifold will help with keeping intake charge temperatures down. More importantly, with an N/A motor is scavenging it's the biggest way to increase the motors volume metric efficiency.
@@adamscott9725With a carb, you need heat for proper atomization and to prevent carb icing. The factory setup literally had a heat riser built into the carb body. It took heat right from the exhaust.
Just a 6" towing mirror off eBay. I think it's supposed to go under the big rectangle mirrors they have on semi trucks. It's great for seeing stuff really close to the car
Sounds fantastic one of my favorite engines
Great motor, but where's the V8 sounds mod🤔
Nice sound i like regrind Delta cam on the straight 6 300 engine with 2 barrel carburator old ford carb old school style
The delta probably would have been a better cam. Wish I knew about them before I started

sounds amazing for a 6cyl
Thanks!

Rude and crude totally gnarly
I love it, sounds great
@@LifeisGood762 thanks!
This is too cool. Can't wait to see more.
Thanks! Gonna do some driving videos soon
That sounds good!
Aren't you supposed to run @ 2,000 rpm to break the cam in?
I'm pretty sure that's only necessary if you have solid lifters.
Yep definitely a necessity. I did that in the first part of the video but didn't really record because I had too much going on trying to keep that rpm up
Did not know this, thanks for the tip because I'm thinking about camming my EFI 300 i6, any ideas on cams?

Why a 4.2 5.3 makes good power and mileage
lame. put a ford motor in it.
@@jonhathaway2537what he said
That's sacrilege.
Very cool!
Why would you put the header collector so close to the intake manifold?
It's so close to it stock that it doesn't change much doing it the way I did. Going to be wrapping the header to help with the heat tho
The ford 300 never got a crossflow head. The intake and exhaust are on the same side.

@bcubed72 I know heat deals with fuel puddling at the bottom of the intake manifold, but after warm-up, I would think it would hurt performance.
Awesome!
What mirrors are those?

yeah , you wont smell any exhaust
If you keep the window up and fill in the holes in the floor then there's a chance 🤣
What cam
268 comp cam and spring kit
@@dilbeck6785how hard was it to install? Any difference between the carb 300 vs a EFI 300 when it comes to cams and sizes n shit?
