The Foxes have made huge defensive and attacking strides under new coach Enzo Maresca, but how exactly has the Italian revived their fortunes? I still don't understand how they got relegated in the first place tbh with the squad they had. Its nice to know that next year Vardy will be back smashing in goals next season
that's easy: a number of Leicester's defensive players were poor last season (Ndidi and Soyuncu in particular, with Tielemans having his worst season in a Leicester shirt too) and Vardy could not find the net and Iheanacho was too inconsistent in front of goal. Danny Ward was also one of the worst keepers in the League by statistics in terms of save percentage. It should also be noted that some players were sold and not adequately replaced (Fofana) for financial reasons - apparently, the owners were in a tough spot financially and Rodgers had no reinforcements to call upon, as well as having a lengthy injury list for much of the first half of last season. His sacking was incredibly unfair in my opinion and Leicester deserved to get relegated just for that alone - it's not the manager's fault when his hands are tied with injuries and no money available to spend despite getting in excess of £60m for Fofana.

@Durbanite2010 that is a completely inaccurate assessment. The rot had set in under Rodgers long before last season. He should have gone long before he did. Dean Smith, despite being a bang average manager had a better points per game ratio than Rodgers last season and he had Man City, Newcastle and Liverpool in the eight games ge took charge of. Smith picked up 9 points from 8 games. That form replicated across the season would have seen Leicester comfortably survive.
2 key factors was the board leaving it way too late to sack Rodgers and an inferior replacement for Kasper Schmeichel in Danny Ward
@sachinkelsen1751 Absolutely! Even then, Leicester had a much better keeper in Iverson on the bench. Rodgers didn't drop Ward for Iverson until game 26 when it was obvious that Ward wasn't good enough after 4/5 games alone. Bringing Iverson in ten games earlier alone would have probably been enough to keep Leicester up. Rodgers should never be allowed to get away with how disastrous his last 12-18 months at Leicester were.
I don't think it was that hard, Leicester's relegation was a shock . They are top 10 PL team in the Championship
Say you didn't watch us for 2 years without saying you didn't watch us for two years, the rot in the squad was real, we had 12 players leave the club in the summer, Enzo had to start from scratch.

players from Prem teams (Winks,Casadei,Doyle) and an understudy to Kasper,also,he has found a formation,433,and stuck to it,not always played well,but ground out results,and have a good coach in Willy Caballero.Still didn't expect this run though,and to think there was talk of us going in for Ipswich's manager,which,

Leicester deserved to get relegated last season. That was the consensus at the King Power last season, just like they deserved to win the PL in 2016 and the FA Cup in 2021. Fortunately they are not blaming anyone else and getting down to sorting out the mess they got themselves into. Hiring Maresca is turning out to have been the best business of the summer.

Feels good to be a Fox once again 🦊💙 Last time it was goid was 20/21 when they lost out on a European place to an Alison Becker LIV header! 21/22 was very average and 22/23 was a disaster - staet to finish. I just hope they can make the climb up to PL in one go and there wont be a few yo-yo seasons.

It’s different though, Burnley had a lot of loans and were probably weaker upon promotion when they needed to strengthen. Leicester had built a squad for European football before adding two players 30 and under with double figures England caps.

Further, Burnley aren’t the only team to have been promoted. So all options are currently on the table until Leiceater are promoted.

Will their new way of playing work in the premier league? Look at burnley they dominated the championship last season and now they are struggling in the premier league
This is completely in accurate look at where Burnley were this time last season they weren’t first and 14 points ahead of third
If you look more closely Enzo does provide some latitude to the players if and when they need to go direct. He's coaching them game management something rogers seemed clueless about for 2 seasons! This flexibility is what's making the foxes so effective. Of course they will have to go up another gear for the prom. next season but Enzo has been there with City and will have everything ij place. He's gonna be hard to tie down when the big boys come sniffing.

That’s a poor outlook on football there mate. As you could clearly see last season, the ‘best’ players don’t always get you anywhere. We got relegated with players like James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, as well as poor play, bad man management and average transfers. Maresca does have good players but he’s got them working in a phenomenal way and he’s quite tactically intelligent for someone who’s hardly managed

He was a great player for City. Always put a shift in. Then Rodgers fell out with him and refused to play him for 18 MONTHS!!! It's one of the reasons Rodgers is hated by City fans and one of the reasons Rodgers lost the dressing room. There. Hope that helps your 'journalism'.
