The Renoir nude at the sea was probably a steal. The Chagall (12) was beautiful.
Monet, Chagall, Renoir, Signac, Picasso and Caillebotte ask a group question to the buyers: "Did you really, really like our paintings?"
The answer was, "No, but your signatures were on them"!
Great way to see how inflation works when you tune in a couple of years later
I figure inflation lifts the average work by 10 to 12 per cent a year.

I was just coming her to say the same thing. I don’t understand why that was done?? Someone enlighten me. Less profits for them too even though it was a smaller amount on the scale of prices being thrown around. But why accept a lower bid??

Auctioneer obviously has some favourites... he closes bidding way too quickly on some pieces.. Have witnessed this behaviour many times from general mart to rare philatelic auctions !!
