thanks my friend! I truly feel Wilson is where its at for a semi or full custom 1911. Their history is interesting and they've been doing it for a long time and their custom service is bar none. I know they are pricy but I believe its worth it (to a certain extent). Les Baer is nice for sure and what you get at their price points is almost a bargain.
I am watching this Video a second time, it is a gorgeous 1911! Congratulations! I am looking forward to the Shooting Videos. All our best to you Ol1911. Big Thumbs up from us. Beretta Sr.
don't be! LOL - but yes it is a nice 1911. We'll see how functional it is at its first range visit. I'm planning to blast a ton of rounds at the first range session!
I have twins, I put about 300 rounds through each and then did a complete disassembly, Took all of the steel components, coated them with millitec oil and put them in the oven at 175 degrees for an hour. Ohhhhh Baby!! They were awesome before but Wholly Catfish!! They are as sweet and slick as it gets now!!
Well, thanks entirely to this video and the others in this series, I bought a Hak just like the one you did. I'm 5 weeks into the two months it's taking to build the one I wanted and I'm getting Pumped! I totally agree with your opinions of this firearm after the research I've done on the Wilson company and its products. Again, thank you for all your work and astute observations of the Hakathorn Special. Good luck!
Congrats!!!!! Let me know when you get it. I've been running this gun through its paces pretty hard. The only spot where there is wear is the ejection port...its chipping away the finish... but I'm shooting it a ton. Been practicing a lot of presentation drills and I've already done a one handed reload in which I used the rear sight to rack and one time used the front/recoil plug to rack so its getting its marks...LOL.
You ordered "THE Hackathorn" Special. His is a 9mm with gold bead front sight. Not sure why this pistol is called the Hackathorn Special? Best to ya",,,,!
I agree! And yes I do believe Wilson has the edge in the semi to custom 1911 market. Their history is interesting and they truly do know what they are doing with 1911s. Customer service is top notch. But I believe over the other semi-custom makers Wilson has the edge.
Really enjoy your videos. I just placed an order for my own and customized the hell out of it from Wilson. I can't wait. I did the armor tuff in grey with black aggressive starburst grips and it's a 9mm. Man it's a slow wait! I'm gonna carry mine appendix every day! Love the Wilson vids, keep them coming!
Been a subscriber for a bit. Always kept coming back to your WC Hackathorn series videos. So I pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered a brand new Hackathorn Commander in 9mm. Been quoted a 12 month wait. But oh well, I just got my new Ed Brown .45 to shoot after only a 6 month wait.
I plan to do the same! Not even going to field strip it. Just lube it up and go. I might enlist a bud of mine to help. We'll see if it fails. Stay tuned
thanks! will hit the range soon. I'm going to blast a ton of rounds through it for its first session. No break down - just lube and go! Might need to enlist a buddy to assist.
I know I'm posting late but this just showed up on my watch list. I just ordered a Wilson Combat ACP from Wilson. It was a toss up between the Hackathorn Special and the ACP. The ACP won out beings it was $1500 cheaper but it was a hard decision. I just didn't want to be paying for it for 20 years. I financed mine because it works out better as I got a lot more going on here at home that requires money, such as 2 new cars another getting repaired, my oldest in college and my youngest is a senior in high school getting ready for higher education. I just bought an RIA FS TAC II in 10mm and I also have a model train addiction. Both LGB and Lionel and it gets expensive. But anyway, I'll soon be the owner of a Wilson Combat ACP with a black Armor Tuff slide and gray frame. I saw the Hackathorn Special in those colors and fell in love with it.
Gorgeous pistol. If you end up shooting this pistol under lots of different outdoor light conditions, you will probably begin to notice the slide top and back checkering. It does make a subtle but nice difference.
Flitted barrel, not a chamber. It’s designed to dissipate heat faster. I am amazed how much people find something to complain about. Wilson combat is a great gun.
I thought Ken Hackathorn said the magwell is one piece with the main spring housing in his video about this pistol. I will have to go watch it again to check.
Well worth the suspense, that 1911 is a fine pistol. Racking the slide sounds like buttah. Congrats on finding an FFL to score you the Hackathorn Wilson Combat.
Take your time. Research. There are tons of choices out there and if you want to run anything by me please do not hesitate to send me an email or message!
Don't know why people make video's on these gun's..You know what your going to get is going to be stellar. Not to mention all the haters that can't afford it, or 'justify' the cost. Nothing beats the feel of a serious tool in your hand, I'm reminded of that every time I take a piss...lol
Without a doubt, that is the greatest and most beautiful 1911 and even pistol in general in my opinion. Enjoy t while you have it, that is my dream gun exactly the way yours is. Someday I will have the money to buy that dream gun and I will enjoy carrying it as my ccw pistol too.
Yes its my primary ccw and its been on my person since september 2016 till today and not one malfunction so... impressive. The finish is wearing but no biggie. Thanks for the comment!
That is one all purpose, no gimmicks, nice looking gun. (for a 1911?... ) ;-) :-) Everything you need, nothing you don´t. I always liked the "Government" fullsize look the best.
also very reliable 1911's. This one has not exhibited a single hiccup. I do know of a detective that raves about his Professional he carries. Never a malfunction either.
LOL - yeah I actually have a friend that bought the Vickers Elite. Very nice 1911 as well but it has a different look. He loves his but he just uses it as a range gun only. I should borrow it for a video!!! Range vid will come soon. I might be able to hit the range before the weekend... I plan to blast a min. of 500rds in one session to see what happens.
+TheOl1911 Not yet. I actually have a few recorded but I am having storage issues on my computer. I have to get that sorted out before I can download and edit the videos. I will get them up soon!
I do feel with Wilson you are getting what you pay for to a certain extent. Its tough... the pricing is high but you can find deals...just have to be patient.
I should be going before the weekend...i plan to break it in with a min. of 500rds in one setting. I wanna see what this thing is made of. Will not field strip it. Just lube it and go to town. I think I'll have a buddy help me with breaking it in. I like the Wilson X-Tac also. I know of a guy at the range that carries the compact one.
You are all forgiven for having sold your Les Baer. It is a Bill Wilson Combat after all. What a sweet 1911. What down the pipe next? A range video, maybe?
LOL thanks. Yes I need to hit the range with this thing. I plan on blasting a ton of rounds through it for its first range visit. Not taking it down - just lube it up and go to town. I might enlist some friends to help me break her in. Should be interesting. I hope no issues!!!!
I know someone that just got a Guncrafter - I wonder if I could borrow it for a video. He got it off GunBroker...he almost got a LB but said he got a good deal on the Guncrafter. I saw a 6" long slide 10mm somewhere for sale and I started drooling, haha. I gotta ask, years ago was there some "Chuck Norris" look a like guy advertising for them? I seem to remember seeing a really cheesy video about the 50GI?
Beautiful piece. That being said, I think Dan Wesson is about as high as I would go for a dedicated carry blaster. Either that, or never lean back in my seat at a restaurant. lol Nice vid.
I've owned quite a few 1911s since 1998-present. Some have stayed but most were sold/traded. I think the Wilson will stay for sure. It is something special to me. But we'll see. I did a lot of selling earlier this year... I am planning on adding another 1911 this year maybe. We'll see. Also am willing to sell the Colt LWC 2016 model probably...
+TheOl1911 I own only 3 1911s now have had 5 at one time. Only regret selling one which was a Colt Gold Cup Trophy. But I also bought a blued Delta Elite so my regret went away quickly.
Which of all Wilson Combat models is really best suited for one-hand Precision shooting competition at 30 yards? Thanks and hope some advanced shooters can help out with some comparison of all their models for one-handed Precision Shooting !
Which of all Wilson Combat pistol models are the best choices for one-handed Precision Shooting at 30-60 yards? Please be elaborate and share your opinions of what works best specifically in precision competition shooting for one-handed bulls-eye target, (not two handed center-mass competitions). Thank you
I think its funny that you have to special order things like serrated front strap, extended safties, chamfered slide edges, chamfered mag wells and so on. These guns are fully machined on CNC's and that stuff could be automatic and not charge the customers. The 1911 game is pure racket that most companies are raking the customers over the coals.
You know I looked at Guncrafter but... There was a guy at the range that carries a FRAG model. He let me shoot it a few months ago and I liked it. Never saw the guy again but that was a nice piece. Range video coming this weekend I think. I'm gonna blast a ton of rounds through it for its first range visit. Might need to enlist a friend to help! Not going to field strip it or anything. Lube it up and go to town. Curious to see if it fails.
+TheOl1911 Yea, layaway is wonderful, lol. I put the wiley clapp and a defender in layaway at the same time. Took a while to pay off, but was cool picking up two guns. Anyways, love your videos. Always nice job done. I'm subscribed now.
WOW Finely, very very nice congratulations. You lucky dog someday I will have one of those. Meaning WC. Will be curious to see how it does it out of the box . I have heard only good things but it is a 1911 . A high end tool , just like any good thing worth while , it should need some kind of break in congrats.....
Thanks, I will be hitting up the range soon and first session gonna blast a min. of 500rds. No break down to clean. Just lube it up and go. So we'll see what happens!
Seriously beautiful 1911 right there. I dream of owning a Wilson Combat one day...
Its my primary CCW and been carrying religiously since Sept. 2016 till today. Impressed with its performance for sure. Never say never!
Congratulations my friend , that is a beautiful pistol.
thanks my friend!
7 seconds "Let's just jump right into this"
3 minutes - Shows the pistol.
Poking fun. Beautiful piece!
Absolutely beautiful gun. For me it's got to be a wilson combat and Les Baer for high end 1911's.
thanks my friend!
Dan Wesson, all day, every day.
I like my grandfather’s Cabot 1911 over my Wilson Combat.
Beautiful 1911!
"Want to thank the FFL..." Does not name the FFL
was thinking the same thing... lol they hooked hime up but he dont say their name.. lol fail...
I want a Wilson Combat so badly.
I am watching this Video a second time, it is a gorgeous 1911! Congratulations! I am looking forward to the Shooting Videos. All our best to you Ol1911. Big Thumbs up from us. Beretta Sr.
LOL, thanks as always my friends! I truly appreciate it!
Very, very nice! Thanks for sharing your new 1911.
thanks for watching!
I enjoy your videos. Your perspectives and observations I find to be interesting and appreciate that you seem to be genuine. Thanks.
WOW... She's a BEAUTY Clark!
Thanks! Let's see if it shoots good!
That is a work of Art..Beautiful !!
thanks! I plan to blast a ton of rounds through it shortly!
Wow - That is a work of art and a precision machine! Congratulations
thanks! it is working out very well.
I am jealous. What a nice and functional 1911.
don't be! LOL - but yes it is a nice 1911. We'll see how functional it is at its first range visit. I'm planning to blast a ton of rounds at the first range session!
Absolutely gorgeous. Just ordered one myself!
very nice! enjoy!!!! This gun has never let me down.
Robby Chitwood...whats the procedure buddy I am from Pakistan and I am desperate to have this baby in my gun collection.
That is a real beauty!
thanks! Will be shooting it a ton!
I have twins, I put about 300 rounds through each and then did a complete disassembly,
Took all of the steel components, coated them with millitec oil and put them in the oven at 175 degrees for an hour. Ohhhhh Baby!! They were awesome before but Wholly Catfish!! They are as sweet and slick as it gets now!!
Very Nice! The anti corrosion pkging will come in handy, because I'm drooling just watching the video!
hahahaha, that's awesome. Thanks for watching!
Well, thanks entirely to this video and the others in this series, I bought a Hak just like the one you did. Beautiful man! Congrats. My dream 1911.. Near future!
Just ordered one with a gold bead front sight in 9mm.
You ordered "THE Hackathorn" Special. His is a 9mm with gold bead front sight. Not sure why this pistol is called the Hackathorn Special?
Best to ya",,,,!
I have it now. I opted for stainless steel th-cam.com/video/734r7Tv2WYo/w-d-xo.html
I like the solid black trigger and the grips!!! Wilson combat top notch gun makers!!!
I agree! And yes I do believe Wilson has the edge in the semi to custom 1911 market. Their history is interesting and they truly do know what they are doing with 1911s. Customer service is top notch. But I believe over the other semi-custom makers Wilson has the edge.
Very nice looking 1911.
thanks!
Did u do it on the WC website or did u go order from your ffl?
I should NOT be watching all these Wilson Combat videos. So pretty. So expensive. I want them.
Congrats on the Wilson. It's a fine piece for sure. Looking forward to the range video and overall impression. Perhaps a equally nice holster for it.
I have a nice holster for it and that vid will be up tomorrow. I also have 2 IWB holsters coming in for it so stay tuned. Range vid soon!
Broke my Tac Elite in with 500 rounds in 1 sitting. Smooth as silk. I bet yours runs without a hiccup like mine did.
I plan to do the same! Not even going to field strip it. Just lube it up and go. I might enlist a bud of mine to help. We'll see if it fails. Stay tuned
Gorgeous I'm jealous. Best of luck with it. Can't wait for the range vid.

Wow------Im really happy for you. I can hear how excited you are and I don't blame you,. Enjoy it brother.
haha, thanks! I hope it works out, going to break it in soon.
Nice.... Hope to see more wilson combat unboxing...
Heh.... well..... maybe next year.
Beautiful...CONGRATULATIONS!

Nice acquisition!
Sweet 1911.I have said this before if I spend alot on a 1911 it's gonna have a rail.Great video.
I hear ya. I eventually will get one with a rail. Thanks as always my friend!
Flitted barrel, not a chamber. It’s designed to dissipate heat faster. I am amazed how much people find something to complain about. Wilson combat is a great gun.
Beautiful 1911.
I just picked up a nighthawk Bob Marvel Addition 9mm. What a great piece of art.
Don't know about getting a Hack but I'm on my way for a second Wilson !
I am in the process of putting in the order, just got the quote, and can't wait for it to be paid off in full to take the vickers tac commander home!
Without a doubt the finest Handgun made
I thought Ken Hackathorn said the magwell is one piece with the main spring housing in his video about this pistol. I will have to go watch it again to check.
Thanks for sharing -Excellent choice
thanks!
Well worth the suspense, that 1911 is a fine pistol. Racking the slide sounds like buttah.
Congrats on finding an FFL to score you the Hackathorn Wilson Combat.
Thanks! I hope it works out of the gate. We'll see...stay tuned.
+TheOl1911 I can't imagine it not rocking from the start. Both 1911s that I've owned have been amazing shooters.
That is a sweet 1911 you have. I want to buy my first custom 1911 in the near future. Really enjoy watching your videos
Take your time. Research. There are tons of choices out there and if you want to run anything by me please do not hesitate to send me an email or message!

HOLY SHIT!!! You're in the big leagues now buddy! :D NICE gun!! XD
LOL - thanks for watching! Truly is one of the best 1911s I've ever owned.
Very nice congratulations!
Excellent 1911. I went with the Chambers Customs WMG. Just like there cone non bushing barrel fit a little better. But you can't go wrong with either.
Beautiful, good luck with it.
thanks! range session sometime this week and I plan on blasting a ton of rounds through it for its first session.
Just gorgeous! Love the fluted chamber. The hammer carry features are interesting. Good luck with it my friend.
Thanks my friend! yes the fluted chamber does look cool.
That is one all purpose, no gimmicks, nice looking gun. (for a 1911?... ) ;-) :-) Everything you need, nothing you don´t. I always liked the "Government" fullsize look the best.
Man I bought a 327PC after watching your videos and now you're making me want to buy this! Staaaaaahppp! Lol
Congrats, that is one nice lookin' 1911.
thanks very much!
So beautiful! Only thing I would do differently would be to delete FCS. I love naked slides on a 1911. Great vid and I appreciate your enthusiasm.
wilson combat makes the best looking 1911's hope to buy one someday
also very reliable 1911's. This one has not exhibited a single hiccup. I do know of a detective that raves about his Professional he carries. Never a malfunction either.
Another awesome one!! That is just amazing ma, beautiful gun that will always hold value and go up in value in years to come.
Thanks H4T! I believe it will hold its value but I believe this will be one that I will keep for a long time.
wow baby! the Marilyn Monroe of 1911 right there my friend
Nice, pick up bro! I was guessing it was going to be the Vickers Elite. Close I guess. Can't wait to see the range vids!
Gun looks super sweet dude!! Nice grab!!!
thanks!!! Did you put up any new vids on your Wilson?
+TheOl1911 Not yet. I actually have a few recorded but I am having storage issues on my computer. I have to get that sorted out before I can download and edit the videos. I will get them up soon!
This gun will have me on the Dark Web, auctioning off one of my kidneys! Another excellent acquisition, brother!
I just ordered the Tactical Carry Compact in 9mm. Patiently playing the waiting game.
Very nice, good luck with it
thanks, I hope it works out!
A work of art....congrats!!
thanks! after the first range visit the thing is really proving itself to me and pride of ownership is very high.
Beautiful 1911, you definitely get what you pay for!
I do feel with Wilson you are getting what you pay for to a certain extent. Its tough... the pricing is high but you can find deals...just have to be patient.
Very nice guns 👍
That thing is awesome wow
thanks! range time soon...
sweet gun bro
Fine,very fine gun!
For $4000 that little bag better come full with mags! Damn...
Id rather go with a les so i could get mags and ammo lol
Can't wait for your range trip. Interested in how it shoots compared to the Les Baer. Love my Baer but local gun store has Wilson X-tac in stock.
You had me up in till thumb safety. Does not float my boat. Also 3,500 sank it for me also.
Great range vid, nice gun!!almost makes me think twice about my Guncrafter...almost...
Nice. Noting special, just maybe a nice colt commander
Beautiful piece. That being said, I think Dan Wesson is about as high as I would go for a dedicated carry blaster. Either that, or never lean back in my seat at a restaurant. lol Nice vid.
Nothing wrong with a Dan Wesson or a Springer! I know plenty of "professionals" that carry both. Especially the Springer Long Beach Operator. thanks
Awesome gun. I've always wondered how many 1911s you have had over the years. Hope your Wilson stays. You Les Baer was pretty awesome too.
Don't tell the revolvers but this might be the best looking gun you've showcased.
LOL - haha - nice! The Pug nose is sweatin for sure
How is the price of this gun? I like this gun very much!!
Sweet 1911!!
Which of all Wilson Combat models is really best suited for one-hand Precision shooting competition at 30 yards? Thanks and hope some advanced shooters can help out with some comparison of all their models for one-handed Precision Shooting !

I think its funny that you have to special order things like serrated front strap, extended safties, chamfered slide edges, chamfered mag wells and so on. Glenn Davis You obviously know jack shit about Wilson Combat. Away with you.
Awesome video..great deal..my question is how many MiM parts or plastic parts are incorporated in this piece..
should be 0.
Pretty, Very Pretty!!!
everything about this gun is awesome except the price lol but u get what you pay for.
It's a very sweet gun!
thanks!
***** You're welcome!
I want one!
don't forget the used market. there are deals to be had out there.
I'm going to need another video with the range info bud!!!!it looks like a Guncrafter industry's no name...
I just bought a wiley clapp government model colt. Long story short, $1200 made me weep, lol. Nice gun sir!
that's a good price! My buddy just got one but I think he paid 1400!
+TheOl1911 Yea, layaway is wonderful, lol. I put the wiley clapp and a defender in layaway at the same time. Took a while to pay off, but was cool picking up two guns. Anyways, love your videos. Always nice job done. I'm subscribed now.
thanks for the kind words! appreciate it! and very nice on getting those two cool Colts!
If you have to have one of the best, this might be it.
I knew it, You sly old dog. I knew it was a wilson. I should be getting mine here soon as well. She is nice congrats.
LOL - what are u getting?????
Do you think it would be ok to put those grips on a Springfield 1911? I may call and ask Bill.
I like, 7 inch barrel 1911 .45 long slide
I wanna this one
