    I recently transitioned from an ASTRO A50 to a DT 990 Pro 250 OHM 2 days ago and first impressions are a BIG Difference in sound quality. It helped me in certain video games like R6 Siege. I have no intention of becoming a mixer or editor, solely as a gamer. and to be honest. it's an awesome upgrade but the price difference is a bit high.

    They aren't really designed for gaming, they lack Low End as they're initially designed for Music Production. The Mid Range and High End frequencies make it more clear sounding. If you want great gaming headphones, there are better options out there, but If you're into Music Production they are close to perfect.

    • @goochipoochie
      @goochipoochie หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your statement is literally self contradictory and makes no sense because music needs more low end than gaming, and gaming needs clearer mids and highs for directional footsteps
      By your own logic it is better for gaming than for music

      @@goochipoochieI never said music, I said Music Production. Music Production headphones are designed to have a boost in the Mid and High end to make it easier to find harsher frequencies. For casual music listening experience, most people would prefer more Low end.

      How are you using them? I tried them through a GSX1000 and they are so bad compared to HyperX. There is barely any bass at all and they are so quiet (I had the 80ohm version). I had to crank the volume to 70 (40 on HyperX) to get close to the level I needed to hear anything. And even then there seemed to be so much missing information compared to the HyperX. So I have sent them back.

    I know from both a consumer's and a creator's POV, I'm appreciating these "talking head" videos a lot more.
    As a creator, they're much easier to produce without all the editing gymnastics, so it frees up more energy to put into all the other hats you have to wear as a solo creator.
    As a consumer, I'm finding the same conclusion you are -- these just feel more comfortable. High retention editing gets exhausting after a while, and everyone needs to stop trying to be Mr Beast on a budget.
    Maybe it's just me, but substance will always be more important to me than anything, and too much editing can negatively impact the quality of substance in a TH-cam video.

    I was hugely disappointed with these. I bought them to replace my HyperX Cloud Alpha's and the HyperX blows these out of the water. I tested them on Hunt: Showdown and Cyberpunk through a GSX1000. I also tested my old A40's for a reference. These are marginally better than the Astro's but significantly quieter than the HyperX. And there is little to no bass at all.
    In 7.1 VSS they are crisp but quiet and you lose so much sound information compared to the HyperX. Distant explosions and fire is gone with these. As for footsteps, your own are muffled and difficult to hear so enemies are significantly quieter . In 2.0 setting (recommended for Hunt) they are completely useless. I got the 80ohm version, the HyperX are 65ohm for reference. Sent them back after an hour of testing on games, didnt bother with music as the 2.0 testing on games was barely audible so didnt see the point.

      GSX1000 seems underpowered for even the 80 ohms model. Specs says supported impedance is 16-50 ohms and max output voltage is 800mV at 32 ohms. There are cheap portable usb dacs delivering higher output.
