  • This video will show how to replace the circulation pump on a GE model GDF520PSF4SS dishwasher when dishwasher doesn't clean dishes. If your the dishwasher adds water, heats, and empties water, but the dishes are not clean the circulation pump could be the issue.

The troubleshooting paper on my dishwasher GDF520PMJ6ES says you can not ohm this motor because it is a DC motor behind a rectifier. The plug connector supplies 120VAC, then the rectifier converts it to DC, then to the motor. Ohming the plug connector just ohms the rectifier. Anyway, thanks for the video showing how to remove and replace the unit. I'll be doing this tomorrow when my new pump arrives!

Where are people getting repair manuals for GE Profile dishwashers? Do you or anyone know a link? Thanks

Were the hose clamps you used narrow or just standard 1/2 inch wide hose clamps?

There's good news and not so good news. I found test instructions right where you said, behind the toe kick. Not so good, after pressing Stare and Select Cycle as directed, 5 or so seconds, all the lights came on. Then after 3 or 4 seconds all went off. Except for the Heavy & Sani lights. Each stayed on steady for several minutes before finally shutting off. So far we can't find anything explaining that occurrence. And if that weren't exciting enough, we can't find anything explaining what to look for when something is wrong, broken, etc.

That would be AWESOME IF you could please make a video explaining codes and how to access them for those of us who didn't get left with the paper,,, previous owner didn't save or keep it when they sold the house.

    Great video! Thanks!
I'm hoping to just remove the circulation pump and find what's causing a noise before putting it back in. It's working fine otherwise. But I've heard that standard hose clamps don't fit the skinny space in one of the connections? What size hose clamps will I need to replace if I'm only putting the same pump back in?

Would it be easier to tilt the machine on the other side?
Looks like there would be better access to pump and connections.

That would depend on how your kitchen is configured. For me, it was easier this way.

I had the same problem. Stuck a flat head in it and got it started. But got stuck mid cycle. I'm debating wether to buy a new dishwasher at & $450 or replace the circulation pump. I already replaced the control board.

If you do purchase a new dishwasher, look at the Bosch 100 series. It is at that price point that you mentioned and looks to be a much better dishwasher than GE or other brands. That is what we replaced ours with.
I am very disappointed with the GE dishwasher. It lasted only a couple of years before the first problem and we sent it to the appliance junkyard after about 4 years of ownership.
The good news for me is that my GE dishwasher repair videos are my best performing videos.

@@TwoKeysStudio ya know I was about to buy the pump. But you're absolutely right. Ours is only 3 years old. It clogged the first year. Replaced control board second year. Now here we are 3 /12 years of use and the stupid circumstances pump goes out. I'm afraid if I replace the pump something else we'll go out. Thanks for your reply. 👍🏼

@@julianbueno6699 GEs have a diverter failure: our 2018 model had that--- replaced it and motor doesn't want to wash. It's had drain issues for a while so I suspect the main control board.

What cleaner did you use? MIne is intermittently working, I can see the spark from the connection when its trying to come on.

I used alcohol and then cleaned the armature with 400 grit sandpaper. Make sure that if you use alcohol, that you give it plenty of time to dry otherwise it could start a fire.

Is this a common problem? How common is it the inlet valve?

    • @TwoKeysStudio
      @TwoKeysStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It appears to be pretty common for at least something to get lodged in there. I never had any issues with the inlet valve.

@@TwoKeysStudio I did some research and in my model it's a float filter that blocks off the part to the sprayer head when the motor is draining
