Why don't you ship products to KS backers who have paid in early 2020 instead of pushing your marketing out without spending any penny for those who have supported you in the early days? And also, have you fixed your many technical issue like no save button and bad connectivity?
@@jean-francoisreconnu1930 Hey there! We have fulfilled over 95% of our Kickstarter pledges at this time (with the remaining pledges on the way!). For those few who have any technical issues, we're always happy to help troubleshoot with an email to support@artiphon.com and the save song function will return shortly!
Just received mine today and I gotta say, it’s pretty freakin cool. I noticed they have the Orba 2 and it can do some more really great things but isn’t shipping until July. I’ll probably get that one too, and use both of them. Great design and idea.
Yeah, I preordered an Orba 2 as well, excited for some of the new features for sure! Something about it still makes me just like jamming on it, even just to make some noise for a bit, just can feel so expressive.
This is a great tutorial, I've just finished with all rythem and cords in my head because of listening to alot of talk radio. I've been playing with this for a couple of days mostly while driving, and I just wanted the basics as you have demonstrated here. It's definitely a great fidget, to occupy time with and just relax and play to whatever comes to you, without any preconceived tunes in your head.
I am starting on my journey to become a musician and this is one amazing piece of equipment. I don't have much money to pour into a setup because of college draining my money, but thats beside the point. I would absolutely love to get the Orba as a product tester, I would give them an amazing review and it would greatly help me. (Sorry for my ramblings)
@@LouSassoleSledgecock_III If you knew what you were talking about, you would know that a synthesizer is just as much of an instrument as a flute or piano. Such hateful gatekeeping has no place here. Leave this page.
Yeah, agreed. My guess is because these seem to be at least partially synth engines controlled by midi, most are not just recorded samples firing off but actual generated sounds based on all the midi info combined. Still could map a sample and control volume and stuff, but my guess is also they would have to make that whole interface, and you can basically already do that with MIDI playing external things, so at best it’s a v2 feature. I would love to be able to tweak the engines, like say pick square vs smooth waves and such. I did learn you can use midi over Bluetooth and play a lot of synth apps on phones pretty easily fwiw.
Not on the Orba, no. I only mention that there is NO quantizing on the Orba itself, at least as of now still. But you are totally correct about connecting to a DAW, if you use as a MIDI controller you will have access to any quantizing tricks your DAW may have.
Oof that’s rough. I did pay the extra $8 for “expedited” shipping fwiw. Even then it said it was in SoCal for like a week and then just showed up one day (I’m in Bay Area).

Yes, there is a 3.5mm headphone line-out port. I imagine you would just need some variation of USB-C to MIDI cable. I’ve also seen ads for Bluetooth MIDI dongle things, but that may require a smartphone to bridge the gap and connect Orba > app > dongle, never used one. Hope that helps!
Battery life seems pretty solid in my experience. I’ve only been using it here and there but also have only had to recharge it a couple times since I got it.
You can check out the official website at artiphon.com/pages/orba not sure if any retailers are selling any yet. I did a quick google and see the MoMA store might have them and offer returns but I can’t personally vouch for them a shop.
@@aidenalmaraz4644 sorry it’s not working for you. Like I said, about the best I can say is make sure you have the latest firmware and are hitting the correct button combination. I also don’t know if you can clear the “song” via the connected app, they’ve been changing the app up too though so results may vary. If none of that helps I’d suggest checking out Artiphon’s support, or just searching the forums/Reddit. I haven’t experienced this issue yet personally.
I dont have any experience with a cappella singing really, I suppose you could use this to create a beat or bass line to sing along with, Im not sure how conducive it is to live playing/recording/looping but I don’t think it’s out of the question. Totally depends on what you’re trying to do! There is a version 2 of Orba coming out that can do quantizing and some level of sampling, FYI.
Not really good, consistency-wise. While making a pattern, it gave out a wild screech and everything was gone. Also, can't get it to stay connected wirelessly to either my Mac or my iPad. And, why is every sound fuzzy, especially when added together and it all sounds like a muddy mess? Can we get a sound pack with clean sounds? It could be soooo much fun!
Not sure about the lights turning all green. Only things I can think of that give me green lights is the loop indicator once I turn off record/dub mode, or checking battery by quickly hitting power. Also on pad 8 most drums seems to use this as shaker you can hold a finger on pad and shake Orba. It does work exactly like a shaker, but it’s different I suppose ha.
Hey! So, at any one time, you can only have one “preset” of each instrument type loaded onto Orba, so one drum kit, one bass, one chord and one lead. Once you connect to the app (either bluetooth or USB to phone or computer) you can choose from nine presets for each of the four instrument types, so there are 9 different drum kits total you have to choose from, 9 different bass sounds, etc. They share themes, so for example there is a “Bedroom” drum kit, a “Bedroom” bass, etc. though they’re not using the same sounds or anything, just thematically go together. Also, a thing to note is currently you can’t edit the “presets” at all, so they’re more like kits. I’m hoping in the future they’ll be tweakable. I’m not sure how the drum kit sounds are generated exactly, if they’re samples or what, the drums generally will have a sound for each pad and then a bump and shake sound. The other instruments will obviously have one main “sound” that is then pitched up and down, but even there shaking can sometimes make some weird noises. Hope that helps! Let me know if you still have questions.
Yes I believe there is a Windows version of Artiphon app to switch presets on Orba and use it as a MIDI controller with any Windows music apps that can use MIDI.
Are you saying you can’t delete all your tracks like in this video? To be clear I hold the middle “A” button and pad 6 REC at the same time for 3 seconds or so. Holding middle menu button tapping pad 5 will pause/play your loop if you have one. It may be hard to see which pads I’m hitting here.
@@airguitarbandit yeah tryed holding down for longer as well, only way i can delete is by turning off and on again and its weird because iv got two orba's and they both like that, thinking maybe if i update the firmware might sort it, but thats another trouble as i cant install the app saying my macbook need updating grrr..
