Really a fantastic review explaining what the Orba is. Sets an example for other TH-camrs to follow for clarity, simplicity and ease of following through with the reviewer of a music gear. Thanks Filip
Great video. I’ve had an orba 1 since the very beginning but gave up on it because of the limited sounds but you’ve opened my eyes to alternative uses. Thanks
I'm getting this for my son for Christmas bc he's been showing and interest and good instincts for making beats with some more simple tools. I had one question- I read you can record/import samples to play *as instruments* from the device (like different buttons will play the sound at different pitch etc). Can you load samples and just assign them to individual buttons (like chopping samples to pads to make sample based beats like an mpc) instead of playing a single sample as instrument? Not as a remote midi controller, but just locally on the device? Thanks!
I'm sure he's gonna love it! Unfortunately, you can't sample to the drum track :( Which is kinda sad. Hopefully they'll change that with a firmware update, but I'm not overly optimistic for that. But maybe. The different soundbanks for the drums have a lot of interesting sounds tho, so I think there should be enough interesting sounds there for him.
This and the previous video were much more helpful then Artiphon videos, thank you. I got mine recently and I am a total noob to music and DAWs, this was helpful but I don't really get how everything just immediately recognize the signal from the orba. Like those on-screen keys you showed for the chords. Is it important that you connected it as a midi device? Is it okay if its connected to an audio interface via 6.35 input?
Hi! Thank you! Yeah it can be a pretty confusing at first. But yeah, basically you have to connect it via midi in order to control virtual instruments with it. You can either use bluetooth (but if you're using windows you will need a bluetooth device) or just via USB-C. Once it is connected to your computer or device, you can select it as a MIDI input device in the settings if it's not automatically assigned. Once it's connected, you can load up whatever instrument you'd like to control. In the video I'm using Keyzone classic, which is a free piano plugin, and an orchestra plugin from Spitfire, which I believe cost around 50 USD. If you connect it with a 6.35 input in your audio interface, you will get the audio, but not the midi. So you can still record with it, but just with the sounds coming from the Orba
Chorda made by the same company Artiphon the same company that made Orba2 will be shipping in Nov 2023 is much better then Orba2. I have pledged on Kickstarter to get a Chorda for myself this early November.
very important question ..how much abuse can it take. My friend's son has CP but luvs music and absolutely luvs those giant button toys (that was easy) ...can this thing handle a million presses in a 1 day? lol
Much better job in explaining orba being useful than artiphon videos
Thank you! I'm glad you find them useful 😊
AGREE!

Excellent video! I think you've pushed me over the edge into buying it! Thanks! :D
That's awesome! I hope you'll love it!
That Lodi was hard g!
How cool's that?😲 definitely need to check this one out!
Right? I was pleasantly surprised. Kinda thought it would be more gimmicky tbh
Nice Job !
Now that Orba2 can play stems... I use my Orba1 strictly as a midi controller. An amazingly expressive midi controller.
Hi. Do you use it with windows. Back in the days it doesn't work with Windows.
@@eDrumsInANutshell yes. My studio setup is on a Windows i9. Ableton Standard Edition
They need to add more soundscapes sounds
