Hey Andre, provided you’ve followed the steps here and have the interval shooting turned on, what button are you pressing to start the shoot? You MUST press the shutter button and NOT the video record button
Hey Andre, basically you’ll just have a bunch of images (that will be numbered) you can view any one of them like a normal photo. To make them into a video you import them as an image sequence

Hello Vic... need some help i have a sony zv1 camera and was wondering...what is the best setting for doing Light Trail shots. Thanks for your help 👍 fyi...love your work.
Hi mate love the videos and on their basis i bought a zv1, iv been trying various things but i tried star-scape time lapse but found in time lapse mode the maximum shutter speed i could set was about a quarter of a second, what am i doing wrong?
Check the settings for mechanical/electronic shutter. If the camera is in "electronic" shutter, it will max out at 4 seconds, so your night shots will suck.
Excellent info as always! I'm trying to make a timelapse of a 3d print over 5 hours. I have to get pretty close up but I'm having a hard time setting up the focus. Manual focus doesn't work so well since there is nothing to focus on in the beginning. Then once the item is printed its blurry because I haven't focused on it. I have the focus set to wide but there is no option for autofocus. I would just like to focus on the whole plate and not just a specific part. Any ideas on the best focus settings for a close up on a moving subject?
Hey there, so, few options on the manual focus setup. Put something on the printer where the printed item will form and focus on that. Then leave the camera on manual focus and remove what ever you're using to get the focus correct and then print. Also, the lower the aperture number, then the less you have to play with from a focus perspective. Put the aperture higher and you'll have more of the image in focus. Does that make sense?
Hi Vic, thank you for making this video. It cleared some initial thoughts about making a timelapse. I realise there is no infinity interval mode, like the Sony action camera. Can I, say, set the recording of the time-lapse for 2 hours, and manually switch it off after 1 hour 48 mins? Will I lose everything that has been shot until that point?
Hey Alvin, thanks for watching 👍 Once a time lapse has started if you stop it you won’t lose anything. You’ll have all the shots right up to the point where you stopped it. Does this make sense?

@@VicBarry Hey Vic! Great great channel btw. Must the import be directly from the ZV-1? I imported the footage to Lightroom (LR), edited it then saved it. Whenever I go to import to Premiere, the image sequence option is grayed out. I can select one photo and have the option, but soon as I select more than one, image selection is grayed out.
Once you’ve the files exported from light room they should be good to go provided they follow a numbered sequence so that way premiere knows which order to put them in
Hiya - is it better to speed up a movie in video editor or use time lapse function in zv-1? advantages or disadvantages? file size or quality or smoothness etc? Many Thanks and subbed..
Hi there. Time lapse will look like a time lapse with motion blur etc (clouds melting into each other and so on) while just recording a video and speeding it up will look exactly like that. Does that make sense?
Hey man, any chance you’d do another car insurance video? Saw your other ones and there really good and funny! Hopefully going to take my driving test soon and just wondering what my insurance would be like! So if you could do this video on young drivers that’ll be amazing!
Thanks for the video Vic. Trying to get my head around exposing an image in a rapidly changing lightscape when using a MSM slider, like the Slypod. My understanding is that the Sony in-built intervalometer averages out the exposure on the previous number of frames to determine the next one, but triggering the shutter from an external unit loses this 'averaging' and exposes just for each shot, is that correct?
@@VicBarry I just got it and I am new to camcorders so I can’t compare it to others but it’s way better than my phone camera and I’m loving the quality of photos and videos it shoots. I find it pretty easy to use so far. Plenty to learn still! So far, the only issue is the battery life is a little disappointing.
Hey Helen, yeah, at this size of camera and considering what it does, battery life is always going to be poor enough. Although it's better than it has been on other Sony cameras in the RX line. If you're shooting talking head stuff a USB power bank and turning on USB power in the camera, will keep you recording all day
Nice review! Do you know if the Zve10 works with QdslrDashboard or there's any way to adjust settings (iso, shutter, aperture) with some external App on your smartphone? Cheers!

What about the battery Duke? If you’re doing a long time lapse then you can power via USB. Haven’t had any heating issues so far. Although if it’s a super hit day then I’d expect you will
By the way, unless you have it set to "mechanical shutter" the ZV1 will not shoot a shutter speed longer than 4 seconds. Better check that before you try a night sky time lapse or sunset etc.
@@VicBarry I've made some slow mo videos but when I copy them to my laptop along with photos the videos don't copy. Are there only certain types of SD cards that accept slow mo?
Nice video sir. I'm not really impressed with the timelapse feature compared to Canon g7 mkii. When you do a time-lapse, its automatically stitched together into a video file. On the Sony, you have to do a lot of work to accomplish the same result.
Hey Ray, yeah. I take the point, however with a bunch of photos you have so much more control over the final look and even more resolution to play with. IMO anyway
Yes, this is a big disappointment. Up until the RX100 mkV, Sony offered the Play Memories apps. The timelapse app there was awesome. It has a bunch of automatic presets, and allowed you to make movies AND record the photos too. It was really good. I can't believe they took that away instead of just building it into the firmware. In some ways, the RX100 V is a much better time lapse camera.
@@VicBarry yes, but its geared to vloggers that travel or on the move for the most part. If I wanted the most control over quality, id still use a dslr over this. It's nice and compact, but the memory hog gets annoying and not fun to use on post. I just get annoyed on unnecessary steps is all.
It's really not easy since it doesn't make a movie. Also mine makes a shutter noise which kills the mood if I want to capture my kids eating or something like that.
Hey Kai, thanks for the comment. I'd argue that it is easy. If you're using Premiere for example (other software may be slightly different but the principle is the same) it's the same as importing a video, except you have one extra click and thats to check the box to import all the images as an image sequence. As for the shutter sound, you can indeed turn it off completely. Customer Operation2 (2nd Menu) Page 9/9 - Audio Signals: Off - There will be no shutter sound for internval shooting or any shooting for that matter. Hope that helps.
Great video, Sir! Quick question: is the ZV-1 converting the picture files into a time lapse video in-camera or do you have to import them all into premier and do it all manually? Thank you!

Didn’t work pal, got to the point where it said ‘not available in manual exposure’ etc. please could you make an updated version with what camera mode to be on to do the Timelapse….
For a point and shoot, the entire time lapse to video assembly process should have been done in camera (as an in camera process) after shooting time lapse (result output as a video file). I believe that’s how Canon and most smart phones does it and it seems way more convenient.
Hey there, yeah, it's a fair point, however this gives you complete control over the process from an editing perspective and as you're dealing with high resolution images it can make all the difference in how it looks, compared to a compressed video the camera could spit out. But I get your point about convenience. And for most people who are watching on a phone, it probably won't make a difference to them.
Absolutely right and a deal breaker for me. If the images were assembled in-camera you could always edit most things in a video editor if needed. There should be an option for in-camera assembly. Sony could have done that but choose to be an odd ball camera maker.

😂 Thanks. Just a personal choice I guess.
@@VicBarry probably but you Look much cooler and better with the beard and no hat.
