I love doing Timelapses, Hyperlapses and motionlapses!! Are you a fan of Timelapses? What camera do you use to create them?
Shot my first time-lapse today! Took me ages to find the files. Looking forward to trying your setting recommendations. Thanks!
@@HubertMurrayMusic Try doing some small timelaspes with different interval settings to get a good feel for the effects and looks it creates. That way when you do a long timelpases, it will be epic!
Great video and helpful instructions!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks! Been using zv1 for one year. Still learning...
Your welcome. Glad to help!
Thanks!
Your welcome.
That hyperlapse came out really well! The file must be a lot smaller than taking a whole video and crunching it down yourself.
Thank you, Yes, the file is a lot smaller.
Thank you! Very well done.
Your welcome.
will doing timelapse can increase the shutter count faster than shooting a normal photography?
Do you mean the shutter speed like 30 fps? a timelapse is simply a pile of photos all put together to create a video.
You can simply take photos at what ever shutter speed you want, then compile it all in post.
Or you can set timelapse interval, etc in the menu. Then if your in manual mode you can adjust shutter, iso, f stop, etc
@@MichaelCGrayPhotography tq for details explanation. btw i mean the shutter count (lifespan of shutter actuation) , usually people will check about it before buy/selling to others . can it affect shutter count for timelapse? will shutter count be eliminated by electronic shutter mode ?
@@aircraftangan Ah, I understand now. I do not know that answer. You could try it yourself and see if it does. I would assume every time that shutter opens and closes it would count it.

tq so much. btw do you know , what is the setting for this video if let say i want to make a video exactly like this using zv1 ? can you recommend me the best setting to make it exactly like in the video below

How did you focus in Hyper lapse... I tried but focus is getting out even in Auto focus
I just used auto focus. If things are coming closer into the camera it will focus adjust on that object in auto focus. You can try to focus lock on a distant object, then walk towards it, see if that works better for you.
Thank you for the helpful sharing
Your welcome. happy it helped.
Great stuff...I do vlogging...if I use hyperlapse..what settings should I do if am outside walking...can u help
Thank you. I show you in the video how to do it.
As for settings, I keep the iso at 100 if i can. Shutter at double your frame rate and then adjust f stop to get proper exposure.
Hope that is what your asking.
@@MichaelCGrayPhotography thanks brilliant 👍
thank you so much! it was so helpful. greetings from russia
You're welcome! happy it helped.
Would you recommend just shooting normally and speeding it up in post or actually using the sony interval menu? Any noticeable differences or same result in the end?
It is basically the same, but I feel you get better control by shooting normal video and speeding up in post. Also sometimes The lapses can feel a bit choppy when shot in the modes.
@@MichaelCGrayPhotography Appreciate the reply! Keep up the great content sir!
@@SteezReviewsTech Thank you and your welcome.
What would be the advantage of using the Time-lapse feature versus just speeding up video?
I think mainly file size, the timelapse mode only takes a photo every say every 3 secs (or what ever interval time you set) where video is continually recording. You can also get better editing control over photos vs video footage.
@@MichaelCGrayPhotography Thanks, that does make sense.
Glad to help.
Time lapse is not a sped up video usually...
Especially for night/sky.. photographers usually use intervalometers where it takes a series of photos at a set time .
Then you edit and combine the pictures as a video.
With the built in time lapse.. it does the same but already exports as a video so you won't have to.
As a lazy camera guy why does Sony not have a timelapse video feature in camera so you don't need to use an editor to put it all together... Smartphones and even some other cameras have this feature why not the ZV1
Sorry, I can't answer that one. I do agree it would be nice to have the option to have it produce a timelapse finished in camera or have it do it by photos. The photos done in an editor do give you a greater control on color grading and if you had like 1 image of someone who stop for a sec in the way. You can just delete that image. You can always cheat on a smaller timelaspe. Shoot normal video, speed up in post.
@@MichaelCGrayPhotography True enough... But for the trials and tribulations of the lazy videographer ... LOL Thanks for the response.
Completely agree on this. Canon and even GoPro allows you to simply shoot a time lapse and then it makes it into a video “in camera”. Having to drag a couple hundred individual photos into an edit software is for the birds. I like the ZV1 for many reasons but it’s not at all user friendly. On the streets making vlogs you have to be able to shoot fast and process fast, Sony is not good for that run-and-gun process.
Sony used to offer a really nice timelapse app with great auto modes through the Play Memories platform. That went away after the RX100 mk V, which is a bummer, since that worked awesome. It would even spit out a movie and give you the picture files separately if you wanted. Shame on you Sony.
I couldn’t agree more. I have ZV E10 and it doesn’t have one push timelapse button either. I’m just a casual user, point and shoot user and shoot everything in Inteligent mode. It’s too bad Sony doesn’t give us that feature as it also claims for Vloggers which I think they just want one push button feature 😭 Why does it have S&Q for Slow Motion iso Timelapse 😮💨
You forgot to explain how to select timelapse which is the most important information in the video.
Umm, I fully explain how to select timelapse. I stated Sony calls it " shooting interval " in their menu.
I walk you through the menu and how to fully set it up.
What part are you having trouble with?
You NEED to pay attention to that "electronic shutter" function. If you are doing a sunrise/sunset/star trail time lapse, the electronic shutter will not allow shutter speeds longer than 4 seconds. This will completely ruin your time lapse if you leave it on "electronic shutter" and hope to expose the stars or sunset correctly.
Thank you for the info. I normally use my DSLR for that kind of work.
Not useful
Maybe there is another video that is.
