The sizes change depending what I am going for. It creates reflection. For the eye glint I use a disc and a rectangle no idea the sizes because I chang3 them all the time. Height and width for rectangle try something like 20 and 40 or 40 and 80 and so forth.
There is a art to that as well, you can add the quality level up but render time will increase, the easiest way is using photoshop and using the blur tool.

Just a small correction. When we see light coming from the moon it is reflecting sunlight from the side, not behind as you stated.
