This is an overview of the experience of a military Space-A traveler who recently became stranded for a week at Yakota Air Force Base Japan as they were attempting to fly to California. Here I give my observations and cover how you can potentially avoid stranded traveler's fate.

LOL, we were trying to get back to Washington State from Guam, we gambled going to Okinawa on a Marine C130 to maybe catch a flight to Alaska, noticed there were flights to Alaska, then short commercial flight to Washington. We got stuck in Okinawa for 3 days, eventually did make it to Alaska on a C5. That was an adventure for the wife, she's never flown in a military aircraft before, she experienced flying on a AF C17, USMC C130 and AF C5.
Wow - that’s quite an adventure!
We've never traveled during PCS season but had difficulty trying to catch a flight out of Ramstein late December. Lucky, a C-5 showed up heading to Dover AFB. Perfect !!!!! Got home in time for Christmas with the family.
Thank you for sharing your story and for supporting the channel!
Great video! I haven’t tried Space A yet (we are in the VA Beach area) but there’s six in my family. I’m almost wondering if it’s too risky trying to get us out on a flight? Thank you for the information!
All depends. Avoid travel during PCS season - mid May through mid Sept. If you see multiple aircraft on the same day to the same destination, which happens between Travis AFB & Hawaii frequently, then it is a different calculus. I would recommend you view the Space-A Boot Camp series and begin preparing for an adventure! th-cam.com/play/PLxcQV6VxZEv4FQw42on_Bh1Eir7IRoR34.html
There is one bright side to being stuck in Yokota AFB…it wasn’t Andersen AFB Guam…THAT would have been a real disaster. Commercial flights from Guam are NO JOKE expensive.😮
Thanks!
Like it!very amazing video-work~ 😲
Thank you! Cheers!
I’m trying to catch a flight from north island, CA to Hickman next week, I already registered and everything, do you think I can get a seat or it might be really difficult (PCS)?
According to their Facebook page they have a C40 flight scheduled with 50 seats going to Kaneohe, HI on Wednesday,,July 31st. Nothing going to Hickman from there in that time-frame. Probably good odds of getting a seat though.
@@CliffWagnerthanks for the answer, my bad, yeah that’s the one I’m trying to catch, hopefully I can get a seat, how long before roll call should I be at the terminal? And by chance, do you know if there’s a website to check flights from Kaneohe back to CA? Thank you !!!
@@dayanabenitezramos233 Marine Corps Base Hawaii shows this number for the flight schedule 808-257-0777. Can't tell you why but they don't update the flight schedule reliably, but it is probably because they don't have many flights.
