We’ve only been caravanning for 5 months and found your Chanel almost straight away and today I decided to go back to the beginning and can’t believe you’re Bedfordshire, we are Bedfordshire too. Started with a 2 berth caravan and have just purchased a 4 berth as we quickly realised we needed something bigger. We also went to see Alistair at Oxford caravans. You never know, maybe we will bump into you at some point. Thanks for all your videos, they are so helpful. X

What an excellent video - there are almost no vids on this subject and this one has really helped us with info unavailable elsewhere.
We're in Bedfordshire too (a bit obvious from the channel name😃😃), so this has been really interesting for us.
Will message if that's ok - we will be needing storage at the end of this year, and would love any info on local(ish) sites

A great video with some extremely useful information, thanks for sharing your experiences and the hints and tips for researching. Very sorry to hear of your troubles and pleased to note you are moving on and have a new 'van to enjoy now. Our disco was stolen from our drive on NYE last year (2018) so we fully empathise with your situation.
We are caravanning virgins and hope to pick up our pre-loved caravan later this week, so we are currently actively looking for storage sites. Whilst it is not new, and nowhere near the value of yours and most others, we are unable to store on our drive because of local restrictions and are worried about away from home storage as well.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone having bad experiences with such paid through the nose for facilities should definitely name and shame when they fall down on their responsibilities, this will warn and assist others to avoid them like the plague...

Hi ! We have our caravan stored in gold cassoa storage, like you There are three gates which are worked by key fob there are loads of security cameras,a warden and dogs roaming of a night. We also have the use of electric hook up and water, there is a place to wash your caravan and a on site caravan workshop with a maintenance man who will do any repairs you need and service caravans. Also some one to wash your caravan if you don’t want to do yourself. Love your videos.👍

weve literally just moved storage sites as the last one was at least half hour away from us and the owners moved my van twice in a week, their excuse was that they were doing some fencing behind out van, then when they put it back it was on an angle, when i went to retrieve it to move it to our new site, they had put it back next to a motorhome about 2 inches up to it!!
our new place has key fobs and on site owner etc and its 10 mins away! happy days
Hi Chris, Really curious to know if your caravan had wheel locks on when they moved it & if so, what type? We would be livid if this happened to ours without notification or permission. Totally understand why you moved storage location.....we would have done the same. Good luck, Keith & Michele

I pay £320 per year cameras and 24 security patrolled and 24 hour access stored there for 5 years now

Ours is in the Council run site that I think you are looking at, which is great but I'm surprised its a 3 year waiting list.
Near the Motorway Neil? yep were number 82 on the list. we do have a friend who stores their caravan there and told us that the pitch next to his has been empty for over 2 years!!! that's the council for you!
Hi kieth, just watching your videos and I came across this one. Can I ask please did you have a hitch lock & wheel clamp on your caravan which got stolen, our new caravan has to have both fitted whilst left stored. One by the site owner and our insurance company. Thanks Davey Ipswich 👍

Hi folks, I've heard that some storage sites joined CASSOA to get the award (not sure how true this is), once they got it, they never re-applied but still show it on their storage web site as a member. It's always best to check the CASSOA web site for updates, and if in doubt, ring them.
We've only been caravan owners since 2017, our first storage site was a 2 minute drive but it had no security to speak of. The owner told us that there was 24hr security, two CCTV cams and locked gate... this turned out to be somewhat false, the CCTV only worked when the owner was in, the locked gate was a draped chain and dummy padlock, and as for 24hr security, well....
We've now move our van to a proper CASSOA gold site 45 minutes from home, it's well known to the insurance companies and is very secure.
You’re so right Bob, research is key when choosing a storage site! We’re in a very secure site now, like you, it’s about 45 minutes away but it gives us peace of mind! 👍🏻 Thanks for watching 😀
Hi again folks, and apologies for the rushed first comment, it was rather late, I'd had a couple and sounded somewhat brash ;). First, I'm sorry you've had your caravan taken by those who prefer not to buy, I know I would have been livid with the storage site as well as those who took the van, I think I would have also looked into taking legal action against the storage site for mis advertising... it's not a great introduction of being first time owners.
You're both giving out great advice, keep it coming.
Hi Bob, we did think about taking action against the storage site but decided to just put it behind us & move on. Cassoa we’re notified but the site is still being advertised as Gold standard 😠 Thanks for taking the time to comment & not brash at all 😉🍻😀
That's fair enough, I know these legal and compensation things take a long time to settle. That doesn't surprise me that they are still advertising as a gold storage site, and if CASSOA had any balls, they would do something about it. As you mentioned before, other van's have disappeared from there and magically, the CCTV wasn't working then either.... does make you wonder doesn't it? At least you have moved on now, just enjoy the good times ahead.

Re: CASSOA, it seems like it is a familiar tale of the "trade association" racket. It's promoted as though it exists for customer protection but don't be fooled - they're most often there to look after their members. The association badge will be prominently displayed but it means little. I've had a sour experience with this before, once around a house removal company and once again with a member of the "Master Builders Guild". Sounds like a safe bet right? Think again! Like you wisely say, do your research.
