Thanks both. I watched this vlog a few weeks back. Then today, 24 hours before we go away, I randomly tried the m/w as the van is powered up on the drive.... it did not work. Fused and power checked. I remembered this vlog. The dimensions in our 2010 twin axel Lunar are pretty much the same. So I opted for the identical one. It is mm perfect. Just the two screws on the side fouled a bit going it, but a bit of gentle persuasion with the wooden surround and she now fits like a glove and looks factory fresh! Thank you again!

Well done Keith a great job done and great explanation of the steps you have done I’ve watched my dad make similar upgrades when we have had our static caravans in the past I am amazed Bailey have fitted the microwave like that it’s bravery indeed to drill into a new microwave but as you say taking your time gets to a quality job! Very good to share that DIY info as a microwave won’t always last the life of a caravan and a job you can do yourself and save money. Thanks again for sharing both 😀😀

A man after my own heart! You measured the size of the microwave in good old imperial (feet & inches), I've absolutely no idea when people/workmen start talking about metric! Maybe it's 'cos I'm the wrong side of 70! 😂
Hi to you both , my wife did the same thing to our microwave in our caravan , there's not enough ventilation around the microwave , very compact , my advice ,only use caravan microwaves for a few minutes or you will keep having the same problem , hope this helps 👍
Great instruction video. As you said at the beginning, people used to be able to repair small electrical items. And it would have been a good video if you were able to do so, however, very good information on how to replace one 👍🏻thank you.
Glad yours was an easy fix Keith👍, ours went in our Swift Sprite Major and the one one we bought i had to make a complete new base for the microwave to fit the feet into so that it wouldn't move during transit. I got there in the end, though 😉

Another enjoyable and informative vid, think i would test the microwave before drilling holes, sometimes new stuff can be faulty. I have a mirrored front microwave in the house, very handy for a wee pose in the passing 😂😂😎. Ive not been away yet in my downsized Alpine two i had told you about (Jess), but have made new curtains just to be different😊
Hi Keith and Michelle great video thankyou. I have wondered before how easy it would be to change the microwave. I did hear a dealer say once the microwave should not be on for to long because it can overheat because it is enclosed in the caravan. I have not had any problems myself but i have taken to opening the overhead cupboards left and right of our microwave when using just to give it that extra air flow around it to help disperse the heat

Ours came off the securing bracket a few weeks ago. The wooden surround was held in with 4 screws. Needed to remove the same stick on screw covers to get to the screws. Caravan is a Coachman Pastiche.
Hi Keith. Not sure what fuse u mean, my mistake, should have been clearer. I was on about the fuse inside the microwave itself. 😁👍 watched the rest of your vlog and I was too late with my info🙄😂
One tip on microwaves and caravans in cold weather. When you first pitch up the caravan can be mighty cold. If you set the heating going it will take a while warming through everything, including the microwave electrics. Until it warms through there will be condensation on the electrics and inside the microwave are very high currents and it only takes a slight leak and it will short. Sometimes with a bang and flash, other times with no visible sights or sounds but the microwave will be mort. A past microwave. Dead as a parrot. Sorry for the Monty Python references. So never run a microwave as soon as you pitch up or it could wave bye bye.

Goodness knows why manufacturers persist in siting microwaves at head height - not only is it dangerous removing hot food at that level but what an inconvenience. A weighty appliance at that level is also not a good idea - a combination microwave /oven fitted where a conventional oven would be in a UK spec. installation would be a much more practical solution

Nice job but probably the worst possible place to have a microwave, what happens when you accidentally tip super boiling water over your face and chest? Microwaves should never be fitted with the top surface higher than your eye height. All the best , l hope it never happens.

I’m 67 and I think I remember being told by my science teacher that we were the first year to be taught fully in metric so age does make a difference!
