When were hovering your mouse over the link to download the home builder, that was actually the link to download Blender, the home builder link was below it. I downloaded it and I think it is great.
I would recommend setting the scale based off the largest dimension to minimize scaling error. for example, instead of using the 5'-9" dimension, use the 14'10" or 11' dimension. mis-clicking by 5 px over 11 feet is a much smaller error than 5 px over 5 feet.
Excellent thanks Justin. Downloaded home builder last month. I liaised with Andrew Peel several times regarding some issues I was having. An exellent add-on. In combination with blenderkit, and archimesh, the sky's the limit 🙏
Yes. also i love ur tutorials always so helpful, basically every addon I use if from one of your videos lol, they make blender so much easier, thank u :D
I like this video! It would be helpful for a beginner like me if you switch on key logging so it is possible to follow the steps. i.e. I am struggling to scroll and zoom while drawing a wall. It seems to me like scrolling/zooming is disabled as soon as I select 'draw wall'. EDIT: I figured out why I cannot zoom/scroll while placing walls: Magic Mouse on Mac is so far not supported. You need a mouse with a physical wheel. I got the answer from the very nice and helpful developer of the plugin himself!
Agree that this addon is currently the most intuitive one to create a floorplan in Blender. Although archipack is much more robust and offers more functionality, it has quite finicky controls and terrible UI, whereas HomeBuilder excel in those areas.
I tried using this to recreate my apartment but didn’t know a couple things like I do now with the angle rotation so may try again! Also not sure if it’s just me but when I was trying to draw a interior wall close to another wall it would draw it far away from the area I was wanting but maybe I didn’t set the wall type to be a interior one
Great idea and thanks for the instruction. I do, however find this addon quite gitchy. When I add a floor it runs one of the walls off to an infinate length, the drag n drop materials donest seem to work, it crashes quite a bit. I usually use Livehome 3D ( similar to Sketch up but cheaper lol ) to create a room / building then bring it into Blender.
Hi! Excellent tutorial! I just downloaded the latest version of Blender (4.2.3 LTS) and added the Home Builder add on, the downloading method is slightly different than the one rendered in your video. I can not, however, get the window with all the home modelling tools (like drawing walls etc., in your video - on the upper right corner) on my screen! What could be the reason? The "Home Builder" tab appeared on my menu screen after installation.
Thanks for your channel. I was thinking about importing an AutoCAD floorplan into Blender as a dxf file. The floor plan uses multilines and I don't think that is support. Suggestions, thanks
This tutorial is great but I'm going crazy because when I try to use custom angels for my walls it won't let me, only 90 or 45 degrees. Is there a setting I have wrong? I've been searching for a solution for this for 1hour now with no luck :( thanks!
I have found an issue - this addon works ONLY when I frame the viewport in fullscreen, if not - starting position of the wall sticks at world origin and start to move slightly only when the cursor at the bottom part of the screen (usually Timeline is located there by default). UPD.: I Found solution and WHY this is happening (Hope it will be helpful) - I have multiple viewports on screen at the same time (main for everything, small one for camera view), so the solution is - to keep one 3d-viewport at the same time)
Hello there, do you know why updating settings for archimesh objects is very slow ? I have to wait 2-3 seconds each time I update settings. It is not as fast as your video
hi there i need your help on my problem, floor plan png images when i try to put it in blender it comes out as yellow rectangle but i can only see it in shading but not in layout
I've learned that literally all of these tools suck for anyone who wants to do anything other than model something quickly with little need for precision and versatility.
As someone who started off in SketchUp, which is much more of a "drafting" software, I don't disagree about most of the tools (this is definitely the best tool out there, btw, and I think it's moving in the right direction) . It actually blows my mind the number of people that try to make the case that Blender is better than SketchUp, AutoCad, or even Revit for this kind of thing - it's not, but you CAN use it if you want to.
@@TheCGEssentials For sure. To that end, I’ve really tried to get into Sketchup and I’m embarrassed to say this, but the “learning curve,” however minimal it is, kind of frustrates me - even when using plugins. I started this journey or whatever by using an app I randomly downloaded for my iPad, and it’s been by far the most fluid way to make a floor plan, walls, roof, add windows, etc. I’ve been looking for something in between it and something like Archicad with precisely the same ease of use. I’m trying to teach myself a lot of programs right now so it’s all a bit overwhelming.

Hi everyone! Let me know what tools you're using for Architectural Modeling in Blender in the comments below! :)
I don't have set scale with two points as an option.

Polycam do a good app that will use LADAR to scan from the camera of your devcie to document 3d scenes realtime. Very cool.

Is there any good way to measure? The doors for example is just placed at random instead of measuring, let’s say 1 meter from the corner.

Can you add materials to the wall, doors etc
If you need to for ext shots

Same. In version I have, it's the ALT (OPTION) key. I wonder if it's my mouse. But when I press ALT it just adds length. It's weird.
How does this compare to Archipack (paid)?
Why would blender crash every time I try to click the products tab from the home blender tab
i couldn't install the the home builder whenever i click install it didn't appear on add-ons anyone help to know the reason?
set scale option is not showing for me,
is anyone here have the same problem with holding the CTRL key to change the wall degree? mine doesn't work.
I do, did you figured it out?
Mine too..Blender 4.2..But holding ALT snaps it to 45°. Nothing more..nothing less..
Same problem, can't find a solution
