I don't care much for this set because I know how much of ahard time it is for leffen to win GF against hbox. But I don't entierely find that ness game funny. I guess it's just me, but that's disrespect at it's finest (or at it's worst). I can't complain, seeing as I would probably have enjoyed it had it been someone like Mang0 doing that.
Personally I thought the Ness pick was a good strategy if anything. Hungrybox already went through a tough set against Leffen in Winners Finals where it went to game 5. He barely takes it over Armada in Losers Finals where it was a game 5 last stock situation. For Grands, he has to win 6 games in a row at minimum against a player he already lost to in Winners Finals in a matchup he's already played 10 games against. Playing the same match-up over and over will take it's toll. In the 1st set, he's up 2-0 and barely clutched out the 2nd game. Leffen will for sure run it back to FD after having barely lost the previous game. Hungrybox knows he'll go to Dreamland game 4 if he loses, which is his most preferred stage, so why not take less mental stress and have a more enjoyable game on FD with Ness? It's much like when Mango picks Mario on FD against Axe; it might not net him the game, but it takes up less mental stress and gets the FD counterpick out of the way in a best of 5. Some could see it as throwing away a game, but I think in cases like these, depending on how the player's feeling, sometimes you have to cut your losses and save the mental stress for later games in the set.
