legit everyone started remembering why they love melee again for a split sec. I respect and care for every top ten player, but if someone asked me why I love melee, I show em these sets. So fast you forget there is even a timer.
One of the dopest moments in Melee. When Mango popped off after the dair and the crowd went nuts was so exciting. Mango brings the hype way more than any other player. Shame he couldn't follow it up in this tournament against Hbox and Plup. It's a bummer time to be a Mango fan, especially after witnessing runs like Royal Flush. Though moments like this are still awesome.
The amount of reservation composure and focus mango has during his set then his epic celebration after he wins is one of the many reasons he is one of the best players to watch and one of my favorite.
Mang0 puts too high of an expectation on himself when he plays hbox/ plup. When he plays Leffen, he seems to feel comfortable and just focuses on playing to the best of his ability. This set was hype af. Wish he could've kept a solid mindset going into to winners finals.
I think Mango's issue is he gets frustrated at himself, at then his play suffers. You can see in the player cam how visually frustrated he gets, trying to calm himself down.
in my opinion, he does so well against leffen because he really respects him. most players he doesn't have such a high level of respect for, and it seems when he gets frustrated that it's more of "how am i losing to this" instead of "this is me messing this up and it's infuriating". you can see this when somebody in chat once asked him "why don't you ever practice vs sheik?" and he said "the only prominent sheiks are like... swedish. oh, and plup" and while that's true, he also has a very choppy record vs plup's sheik. i think he just still sees plup as a top 25 player and not one of the very best at the game across multiple characters.
Actually...Mang0 always compliments Plup on his skill. He always says Plup is the fastest player, and that literally all of his mains are lightning fast. He also said he thinks Falco beats Sheik...until he faces Plup, then Sheik beats Falco. He also said he feels like asking Plup "Can you let me play" when Plup's tech chasing him because he never drops it. Heck, Mang0 even said Hbox has skill and isn't as lame as he used to be. Long story short, Mang0 has respect for all of the top 6 members when it comes to their skill...except Mew2King. Seems like his playstyle still genuinely triggers Mang0. :') But yeah, one of the reasons I like Mang0 is because he respects his opponents and is a no-johns type of guy, even when he plays Falco. Edit: On yesterday's stream, Mang0 said that he still plays like he doesn't respect the players. He said he knows how much skill Hbox has but deep down, he still plays like he can do whatever he wants because back in the day, he could pick any character and destroy everyone when he was the best. So I guess we're both right because he definitely said both things. XD
That laser at the end was gnarly. Everything leading up to that too. It looked like Mang0 fast fell right before he air dodged to bait out an attack from Leffen. Crazy stuff.
@@Pan_Z I mean, this is 2018 Leffen has nothing left to prove, he is the top of the top of course. All I'm saying is I've seen almost all of their sets in the last few years and Leffen was not playing the match up as well as I've seen him do before.
"Leffen has nothing left to prove." He hasn't been ranked #1 yet, so yes he still does. What do you mean Leffen's not playing the match up as well as "you've seen him do before." He was playing it exactly how he has in the past, and that was the problem. Mango's been practicing. He was faster than Leffen, and out playing him through baits and out maneuvers. Go watch Ginger's recent analysis if you want to see how.
how is it possible for this game to be over a decade and a half old and still get me this hype? melee really is one of the greatest games of all time. period. the shit speaks for itself.
Those down shines when Fox goes shooting up in the air feel like they fuckin last forever. So much potential. Sooo good to see Mango shaping back into form.
Watching this set gave me a feeling I haven't felt for many years. It felt so amazing to watch melee again, the way it felt back in 2014 and 2015. best set in a long time!
what an absolutely bonkers match, sure to go down in history as the definitive new age "fox vs falco" set, one of those instant classics. i love melee so much right now
The old mango was back for a second in time. I hope mango is inspired by armadas retirement to succeed and keep up more, he's been falling behind this year. I'm excited for a rejuvenated mango to go head to head with prime hbox, optimal leffen, and the rising plup. 2019 and melee still has amazing storylines ❤️
I dont even care what part of the tournament this was. This shit was mad entertaining. Props to mango and leffen for going ham on this set. Stakes were high and performance was top notch. Love to see it. Some of the best falco/fox melee I seen
So this is my first time watching this set and I know I’m late to the party. I have to say: Both players are playing REALLY well in this set. Yeah they have mistakes here and there, but everything in between is so well executed. If you broke down some of their movements that no one commented on, it’s truly so good. Two good players, a fast paced set of games, and an excellent community watching :)
Every time I watch these things, I find them amazing, not only in the skill shown, but also in the crowds that it draws. Even today. And each time, I wonder why Nintendo refuses to replicate Melee in future games... I mean, the fans keep showing that this is what they like and want to see.
Mang0 vs. Leffen is better than Mang0 vs. Armada and I'm sorry but it's because of Fox/Falco. Sickest matchup to watch at the top level and these guys just keep treating us to these incredible sets. I hope they both play forever and keep going at it.
7:22 when i grew up, this chant was a taunt. ive been to many hockey games where u chant the enemy goalies name like this to try and tilt him after he gets scored on. can anyone relate?
Basically, it's the Mango chant lol If you dont know the history, Mango played people from out of the country and when the crowd cheered for him they would chant USA, bottom line instead of yelling Mango, they chant USA
Ha ha ha ha! Clearly not. But on another similar note, I hate it when the in-game crowd chants my character's name because usually seconds after that, I die.
At times like :15 I sometimes wonder why players don't use the air dodge back onto stage more? This seems to work at lower levels pretty well as a mixup recovery when close to stage, but I don't notice many pros do it often. Is it more punishable?
the thing is about fox v falco on fd is it's only a good counterpick if fox can get grabs, otherwise if he loses neutral and falco gets a shine the combos are more free than on FoD
Wow dude I can’t believe my favorite rocket league streamer beat this DBFZ player in the winners semis. This game never stops amazing me.
Im super sad that my favorite mario odyssey speedrunner stopped playing singles. But at least we got these 2
as funny as this comment is it really puts some shit into perspective
Ive seen this comment twice. I give that means i owe you a like
Wow i didnt expect to know ALL three of these games
legit everyone started remembering why they love melee again for a split sec. I respect and care for every top ten player, but if someone asked me why I love melee, I show em these sets. So fast you forget there is even a timer.
Bless you.
Mango on FD had me squealing because I was just so like "OMG MANGO IS DOING MANGO SHIT"
@12:03 for the best laser in history
dinojack9000 so true
dinojack9000 damnn that was so low
I literally jumped out of my seat when I saw him follow that up with the down air it was amazing to say the least

3rd at BH8 is still pretty massive, people forget there was a time Mang0 was getting 16th and 17th at tournaments. He's def on the come-up right now
Mango vs leffen always a treat
This is the closest thing to goku vs vegeta in the world of gaming
Or you know... Playing Goku vs Vegeta on literally any Dragonball game... That's gotta be pretty close right
HypeHypest don’t be a buzzkill guy
You're soo right! haha

For sure. Definitely lost some of his mindset ability that allowed him to win some clutch tourneys in the past. Seems a lot more easily frustrated

Mang0 and Leffen were both playing incredible. This set was absolute gold.
Ehhhh Mango and Leffen both had some flubs, but it was great nonetheless.
Nah Leff was not on it, Mango had godlike reads though

Probably the best match in the tourney, at least for me. Extremely fast paced fight between 2 amazing players
Easily the hypest set of top 8, but I think rishi vs zain was even better than this one
It was the best of top 8, but top 8 didn't really have any good sets tbh. Top 64 had quite a few matches better than this (e.g. Zain Rishi).
bananas v fiction tho.
And they say Mango is washed up
He went on to get 3-0ed by both Plup and Hbox.

The match all of us wanted to see. The #1 Seed against the Fan Favorite. Mango looked amazing this set.

God killer

To have a fighting game where you are in COMPLETE control of your characters mobility is the BEST!
Mango must have used Armanda's meditation technique.
Dude that ~Mangonada~ is real and refreshing. Leffen and him always have that Hype, Melee at its most anime.
