Not surprising. Most of the people in the crowd are broke college kids who have nothing to lose and can only go to Shine because they're all too broke to afford to go to any other Smash tournament. I doubt most of these kids are actual Mango fans and only wanted Mango to win for the hype.

I don't get why people hate it when Hungrybox wins. I understand that ledgecamping is boring, but he didn't ledgecamp and he beat mang0 at his best.

Because people doesn't like that one character/player that makes top level Melee look like Smash 4, myself included, although I do not hate Hbox by any means, I just hate the character that is Jigglypuff. Kind of sucks out the fun of watching Melee. I get that some people find it extremely hype, and I don't fault them for that. I just find it boring as hell and usually skip Hbox sets entirely these days.
Again, nothing against Hbox, but its just not entertaining to watch.
There are some people that like entertainment and flashy and then there are some people that like winning and pure competition. Flashy and the "exciting" part of melee is just surface level IMO. I find this set very entertaining just because of the underlying reading/counter fights going on. But most people just wanna see the no-depth surface level flashy momentum playing. And probs to hbox, honestly while watching this set I was thinking damn puff is just so bad compared to fox, and I thought that amongst other clear reasons because hbox wasn't using its biggest strength, which is ledge camping and he still won! He played mangos game against fox! He didn't even play his own usual game and still fucking won. Listen mango may be hype sometime and also win in an amazing ways but he's not about winning. Mango is all about emotional momentum that's why his fan base is so big cause who doesn't like that emotional spike you get from this. But this separates people some play it to win and for the competition and some play it for the emotions. And those people watching/playing for emotions cannot appreciate hboxs style because he's about winning. Hbox has all the social power and confidence stand against him, like obviously mango is more popular and hbox is even hated by a lot of people. Just ask yourself if you could play your best if half the people hate you and most cheer for your opponent, but hbox doesn't give a shit about it and still wins. Not many people would have that willpower and phycological strength to do that and yet mangos ass gets more respect than hbox.( I don't hate mango btw, I understand and respect what he is about) People are fucking stupid honestly. If mango was in that position he wouldn't do shit. He would cry and go home. The people that talk the loudest are rarely the ones that win the most just remember that. The quiet ones focused on their game are the ones that win and succeed.
that's so funny because when hbox isn't ledgecamping constantly in a game i find his sets to be just as hype. Sure some of them can be very long and drawn out but i'm always anticipating a rest and hbox's combos are filthy
I honestly feel bad for HBox. Imagine winning a hype af tournament, only to find that nobody in the crowd is happy for you, and is instead mad at you for beating your opponent. He had to sit through twenty minutes of children cussing him out, whilst screaming the name of his opponent every time he got KO'd.

Even though I usually hate it when Hbox wins, I couldn't be mad at this. Mango was honestly cooking him right when he switched to Fox. I haven't seen Mango play this crazy in a while. Props to Hbox to keeping it together though. Not many people can do it when Mango's playing like that. Wish we would have gotten a reset but great set nevertheless

i just have to respect the HBOX, hes one of the few elite melee players that wins with a character that isnt top tier... hes just is a god at jiggs.
Good set by both players. As a huge Mang0 fan, I can see where Mang0Nations fans are coming from. I wouldn't hand Hbox the #2 spot for the year based off the results of this tournament. Mang0 tried Falco in Winners finals and the first two games of grands, a matchup that he doesn't have much experience in, and his Fox has been dominating Hbox for most of the year (minus that SD, it might have won him at least one set here).
That being said, Mang0 fans can be a little ridiculous in saying that Hbox was handed this win. Mang0's Falco is by no means an easy character to beat, so big props to Hbox for dominating it so easily and clutching out that win in the end against Fox. This win definitely builds on Hbox's argument for the #2 spot, but I don't think you can look at it and say "well, he won so he's number #2" without taking all the factors into account. I think the Number #2 spot will ultimately come down to how they preform at Big House. It's pretty neck and neck right now.
No wonder such a reasonable comment here has no upvotes.

I enjoyed this. Mang0 can be an unreliable player but he and Hbox are fun to watch even if you hate one. Would've liked to see M2K come through that set with Jonny. Not because Jonny didn't earn it but because M2K probably would've had more steam against Mang0, making final 3 more interesting

That Falco against Hbox wasn't looking too bad. Feels like the real issue is that Mang0 never seemed to have labbed out Falco Puff. It definitely felt like he knows Falco's best kill moves, but doesn't understand the best neutral decisions. It's clear that there's blueprints that he can beat Hbox with Falco, but grinding up the match up certainly is a must if he wants any chance of doing so.
BlackDeathBlade We will probably not see that anytime soon though I'd say. After that showing of his fresh Fox without warm-up there is no reason to play Falco vs Puff.
I honestly think it was more of a fan thing. Not only the hype but a "it's possible if you convert" hope for other falco mains. Respect to him and hopefully PP makes a comeback soon. His play style is much needed in the scene.
Exactly, Mango was testing out Falco to prove to other Falco's who just lazily switch to Fox because it's easier that this match up is possible for Falco, and they need to pick up the slack. Westballz is one of these people.

I don't understand your point of view. He looked very hot vs a HBOX who was not at all expecting or practicing with Fox in mind, and floored him the first set. Hbox reacted, worked to slow the map down, and adjusted to the Fox play. Notice HBox towards the last two matches (that he won) added in more neutral airs and less ground game that went well against Falco. I don't think it really proved anything about how Fox was that much better than Falco here.
Are you certain he is just "wow, he should always play Fox vs Puff", based on such a set of circumstances? If he masters the Falco play, he might actually be better off.
I think people appeal to mang0 because his cocky nature is fun and competitive. I like all smashers but leffen to be honest even though leffen is damn good.

MAN my heart fucking dropped after that Mang0 SD on game 4. Guy was playing on fire, I feel like he definitively could've taken it right there had he not fucked that up. That said, I'm always happy to see my boy HBox take another tourney. RIP in peace headphones :P
