The all-new Renault Scenic is now a electric and it will be available with two battery options and a driving range of up to 620 kilometres. A spacious interior makes it ideal of families too.
I’m guessing in right hand drive we’ll be made to have a crappy 9.3” infotainment screen the same as the Megane. I don’t know why we can’t have the larger displays in either car in the UK.
First looks are good. The back seat centre arm rest is clever. As per usual the drive away price and availability will determine if it goes on my short list. Put another away I hope we don't get the "nice car shame about the price" or, " Nice car but the delivery wait time is 12 months plus !" Fingers crossed.
Nice review Dave. The 87kwh version really interests me. Why the bigger battery? Because we do trips down the country on bank holiday weekends/Christmas/Easter etc... when charging stations are so busy and often have long queues, therefore this range allows us to avoid motorway charging queues 😊

Like the Megan UK version will this have the cut down infotainment screen ? Such a shame in the Megan as the Google font is too small on the smaller screen.

2 things I hate on Megane EV. 1. That wireless charger is not padded enough and was hurting my shin when driving 2. Funny enough, also padding problem: door arm rest padding is crap so your elbow starts to hurt. Otherwise it was an excellent car.
I'm guessing, based on the austral and Megane e-tech, that this machine will be touching 60k for the large battery version. It's just nonsense how unaffordable these ev cars are for normal working people who would like to make the switch but want something that's not going to need a charge after 100 miles. Time will tell i suppose.

Apart from the lack of a HUD which I would really miss now that I am used to having one, this Scenic looks the business and could be a contender for my next car when I am ready to swap out of the Niro EV. However, at £45k for the top spec, I am going to have to wait until the large discounts start arriving. 10k off for a model under 6 months old and I'll sign up..... edit....As long as they don't play silly buggers with the UK spec like they did with the Megane. Change the screen for a 9'' version and I wouldn’t touch it.
I love the design however feel a little disappointed that it doesn't have the three individual seats on the second row that the previous scenic had (I have a 2017 Grand Scenic - I can take or leave the fold down seats in the boot) or even the three isofix that the generation of scenic had before the last one. I have three children and like many other 'family' cars I don't think i'll be able to fit a booster seat in between two car seats in this..
Apart from using the name, it has nothing to do with the old Scenic, which was an MPV. The legroom iscreally generous at the back, but as most EVs, the seat does not support your thighs...
EV is more than replacing ICE with battery and motors. Chinese is far ahead of the world in EV after investing heavily for last decade while West and Japan ICE car industries tried to cling on their dominated ICE business.

Nothing like as striking as the Megane. I agree looks like a 3008. However vastly prefer the Renault dash. Perhaps they might lower the price of the Megane and the Scenic takes over the rice bracket

Clearly renault are not listening to customers about the seats being close to the floor give driver an uncomfortable seating position forcing your knee above your waist as see in this ,an seating position , this leads to strain on the lower back and uncomfortable long distance driving why can nissan build a good car and Renault get it so wrong most drivers are going to be over 50 with lower back problems come on Renault know your market.
All of the European brands are going to find it difficult to compete with the Chinese brands. Rate of innovation and cheaper production costs give them an advantage right now.

Tesla has just removed all the stalks on the steering column on the new model 3 and the S. Renault see the need to add more, 3 stalks on the right side and a fourth on the left, include the flappy paddles and that's 6. 🙄
Beats rooting in menus to get wipers like on Tesla, or on the new model 3, looking for indicator buttons when trying to exit a roundabout. Tesla stalk removal is just corporate costing cutting and the indicator stalk removal is dangerous. Thankfully my EV6 has both the latest tech which great range and stalks for wipers and indictors, not a big ask really 😂

Smart cars are Basically Engineered and made by Geely (a Chinese auto maker), but designed by Mercedes, who have ironically imitated Chinease design language. Fun fact. The new smart cars are engineered and built better than the current generation of German Engineered Mercedes. Geely also owns the majority of Volvo Volvo and London Taxi International. How the turn tables have turned. Mercedes now relies on collaboration, and imitation, and can’t match the build quality or technological advancements of the Chinese Auto Makers.
Not crazy about the front texture - looks like snake's scale otherwise the face is handsome. Side profile is unremarkable - pity that the window line kicks up (sorry kiddos). The seat's texture is classy. Interior is years ahead of my scenic III. Arm rest is amasing. But I still love the seats on rail (like my Yeti) and can be removed to convert it into a van. Does it do V2L?
If its the other way round, West will cry foul of Chinese EV is copying West EV design with full ceiling glass, and all the central big touch screen display screen, wireless phone charger and whatever.
I prefer honesty of Tesla, no big front grill needed so don’t have one p but why do so many other manufacturers pander to ICE design? Ridiculous and usually ugly.
Nothing can persuade me to buy a Renault ever again. Worst car I’ve ever had and the quality just doesn’t compare to other brands. Even Nissan build quality is better. Also their customer service is dire!
it will know the arriving to a charger and preheat batteri, unless you are using CrAppel play or Android Auto. because if that are used as navi.. the car has no clue they will stop at the charger.. therefore CrAppel play and Android auto need to be canclled. burned and throw away.. its stupied and only smart for oldcars. not new once.
I have been driving Renaults for 30 years now. I am not going to do that anymore. They have completely lost their personality and are basically the same SUV'ish car in different sizes. NOT a fan anymore. Polestar and Volvo are next for me

Boot floor with no lip and large enough for a families holiday- no sorry! Any styling features passed down along scenic generations- no sorry! It’s just a name stuck on another identikit SUV!

But very few people are handing over that amount in full. Most new cars are financed in some way, often helped with a trade-in.

Scenic shares the same platform with Ariya but the technologies are different. As a result, Scenic has bigger range than Ariya

The Gradn Scenic has 596 litres with the third row seats folded. This Scenic has 545 litres, so it's a little less but not by much.

Chinese cars still do a better and more advanced job with some infotainment and wireless charging applications that the European brands.
