Hi all, apologies if you saw this episode briefly appear and then vanish earlier today - we had to reupload due to a small export glitch. Hope you enjoy!
I notice you have removed my comment about when the cam-car was leading - whoever was driving the Renault was wandering all over the lane, swinging from almost in the grass to well over the centre-line. That's a driving test fail! And the Renault has the same flat fronted draggy boring face as all the other offerings.
@@hamshackleton I certainly didn't remove anything. We had to upload a new version of the episode because of a technical problem with the original so the old version was deleted. As for the driving shots, the filming took place on a very quiet lane where we had at least half a mile of clear road in front of us. Both the camera car and the filmed car drive for very short, controlled periods, in different positions on the road to allow the camera to see as much of the car as possible. Of course it's a massive, calamitous driving test fail. As for the look of the car, that is entirely up to you.
Great review on this car ,i have an ID5 at present what is the actual range as Renault keep on talking about 380 miles is this acheiveable or wltp hype
Love the reviews as always. Only thing in this review which was a shame not to highlight - the various driver displays. We test drove the Megane E-Tech and loved the elegant display, especially the subtle circle dials (speed & power). Really wish our MG4 Trophy had a display like the E-Techs. Scenic looks fab. But, better efficiency with MG4, yep.
Can you guys PLEASE start showing the trunk space? As someone who only buys a car maybe every 10 years, trunk space is very important and a big part of the buying decission.
That's fair criticism. I guess as a potential buyer you still have the ability to go watch other reviews of the same vehicle but your comment is absolutely right. FC videos should be a one-stop shop in video form for a new EV. We shouldn't have to go watch other reviews.

Anyway this should be written somewhere, because as a French guy, im loving it everytime he pulls out the French language. This cracks me up so much. Keep em coming guys.
I was lucky enough to UK test drive the top of the range earlier in the year when my local garage said they were getting one in for their own sales people to see it. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I have no idea how I will afford it, but there's no harm in trying. Been a while since I've raved about a Renault but I think they are doing a great job with their new models
We need more EV's with high efficiency and smaller battery to give high range. An 85kWh battery costs more and requires longer to charge. Otherwise a great review and always fun when done by Bobby! it is good to see more and more EV's coming to the market as it increases the choice.
Agree with your comments on range becoming irrelevant and Teslas still consuming 20% less. But as an engineer I could not find anything about battery cooling, but I am sure it's liquid cooled with preheating for cold early morning starts and for charging preparation (????) or that the heating/cooling is done by a heat pump(???). Automotive commentary needs to address EV issues and not on cupholder, etc.
You are correct on all your assumptions, apparently it has very good battery heating and cooling and heat pump as standard. Tesla consuming 20% less but battery is smaller, in the long range. Like Tesla it also preheats when it knows you are on your way to a charging station, and also the Google software in this, developed with Renault, is excellent and does charge stops on journeys where required etc.
@@wakeywarrior Thank you for that confirmation. Hope that car testers will talk more about technical issues that impact the economy, battery life and thus the secondhand values

The Renault Scenic e-Tech is our favourite to replace our Citroën ë-C4 next year. Skoda Enyaq, Skoda Elroq, Kia EV3, and Ioniq 5 (updated version) are others in the mix. The amount of choice available compared with about 3 years ago is great,

Good review on a great car. I drove an ICE Scenic last year -Portugal- and wished that they were available in Canada. The only thing I didn't like was the lane assist, which kept pulling to the right; I thought that it was a tire pressure problem until I found the switch that turned it off. Can the E-tech version of lane assist be turned off??

@@iambenmitchell it’s subjective but that certainly didn’t look cramped to me. This does more range than most people will need in 1 stint, even on the motorway it’s over 4hrs driving. Styling is so much nicer plus proper controls & proper sensors. But as I say subjective.
I have to say, well done Renault, it has ticked all my boxes, fulfilled all my wishes for Polestars, the 360-and-rear camera combined view, the smart space utilization in the cockpit, the physical buttons, the roof rails, and even fancy sunroof! This is amazing! I have seen the Norwegian NAF measured its baggage room (trunk/boot) 96*88*67 for claimed 545 L, for a shorter than P2 car at 4470 mm. I’d only wish two things from Scenic: 1) give a Dual motor version, driving in the Norwegian winter is much better with AWD; 2) could just add 20 cm in car length to be the same length as a Polestar 2, and the same floor area in the trunk but much higher for a gigantic storage room!
Wish we could get these in the US. We need this size of vehicle for people like me that like to sit slightly higher up than in a sedan but don't want a 9 seater 3 row SUV.

Hi Fully Charged Show, I heard that Hyundai & Kia are having problems with the 12 volt battery early discharge issues? How does Renault Scenic address this? Thanks, Charlie
phenomenal range of 275 miles on the highway in the summer for £41k purchase price according to the EV database. My 16 year old E Class Mercedes diesel has a range of 650 miles on the highway and it doesn't have much difference in the winter either and a much bigger car as well, it can also do another 650 miles after a 5 minute fill at supermarket fuel prices. Progress ? If I travel with my driving spouse, we can eat, drink and rest in the passenger seat also, leaving only 5 to 10 minute pee stops, if we are in a hurry and don't want to stop but with an 87kwhr battery you are charging for about an hour, depending on the rapid charger speed, each time, that is if you are lucky and the charger even works, or is not already in use ?
Is it 2010? Are we genuinely trying to argue people can’t do long journeys in EVs? I go thousands of miles without ever visiting a petrol station often using free solar, yet I’m not posting on the internet about it as everyone has figured out the pros and cons of EVs in 2024.
The elephant in the room here is the Nissan Ariya. It's the same platform and almost the same car. Difference is the scenic has better suspension, better storage, bigger boot and far better infotainment. As an Ariya driver this is currently top of my list as a potential replacement. It seems to be the same car but better.
I tried the ariya as it looked like an excellent option but I was very disappointed to find I didn't fit as a 6'3" driver unless I had a steel roof and the storage just seemed to squander space. Hopefully the Renault is better in this way.
@@miless2111sutube I'm 6'5'' and I went for the option without the sunroof for those reasons. I have the light interior though so I don't miss the sunroof to be honest. I love my Ariya but it has a lot of software "quirks". The internal storage is adequate but not what most people would want. The stupid movable centre console on the higher spec is a waste of time and money for all concerned and just a gimmick. What's really annoying is that even without that you still get the same console but it doesn't move and you don't get any extra storage. So much wasted space there! They have the "secret storage" compartment in the dash which is tiny and pointless. They could have put the wireless charger in that location instead and given people a normal console storage bin.
No doubt that it's a good car and will suit some people well. It's the styling for me, I just can't think it's a little... erratic? I've gone for the Ariya as I just think it's an amazing combo of style and comfort, can't wait for it to arrive.
@@mikesmith71 The Ariya certainly is stunning......although that's personal taste of course. If feels like a premium vehicle. A little while after I'd had mine I picked up my other half and she said all the other cars on the road look so old and boring :)
Totally agree the Renault Driver Assist systems are very chilled and easy to get on with and also easy to turn off. They’ve really stepped up their game. 25k miles in 15mth in Mégane etech fault and squeak free.
Wow, 5kw/mile! That's impressive Robert. I felt the same with my driving habits in my 2023 Nissan Leaf Plus with the 214hp (160kwh) motor. The best I've gotten is 4.2kw/mile. Hat's off to you Sir Robert!😀
I’m liking the range not being an issue on newer EVs. As infrastructure and charging options improve, I can see that going away completely. It has to, tech will push it that way. Electricity is always all around us.
As I start planning to replace my E208 I NEED to see boot space/ease of access, as GreyFox474 says. And I presume no `frunk`? The only images I've seen show a gnarly boot lip. But they don't show how deep or troublesome it is...
Nice looking car and sounds like a great driving experience. Not sure the battery needed to be that big though.....seems like it has added $$ to price and weight to car limiting efficiency. Great first impressions Robert. PS: mention of the boot space/capacity and towing ability would have been really helpful :)
Renault is really smashing it design wise. I've seen a couple of these on the road and look really nice! I'm looking to possibly replace my Ioniq5 with the Meganne or Renault 5 (replacment list grows every week) as I dont need a car as big as the Senic, or this could be on the list.
Does anyone know if the new range of Renault's have a heated windscreen? I can see the button for it (on the screen) in their promotional content, but I can't see it mentioned in the specifications or options list in the UK. Maybe it's only an option in other regions?
Renault on design alone last 10 - 15 years has been smashing it, everyone crap on them and I have no personal experience but their cars in general look awesome, some of the most beautiful designs on the road be it ICE or BEV, and the Zoe eventually got very good range eventually, last I heard about 350 - 400 km, maybe that has improved since last i heard of it. I spotted one the other day outside my local grocery store heading out. This thing and the 5 looks great! Just imagine what we might have in 4 - 5 years, with promises of 2 - 3 times the capacity coming soon. With faster charging on top of that... exciting times! Imagine if all the haters actually took their time and watched your content and others instead of spouting nonsense.
Love the fullt charges show and Robert and all that he does. However, perhaps this was not the best and most informative review we are likely to see on this car. Felt a bit rushed and a bit unprepared. Thanks for all that you are doing, you have set the bar hi for electrification channels, keep up the good work.
I've always liked Renault, proper everyman cars for anyone. My first car was a Clio and my second EV a Zoe. Little to fault either of them, they just got on with the job.
I was going to buy this.... But then when in the car schop its 53000€ for the version that was good spec. 87kW or 61kW usable and charges in 40min Model Y rwd price 35000€ after a 5000€ deduction premie (60kW LFP 100% chargign posible) 52kW usable. And all revieuws schowing that Scenic is using around 19kw/100km We have gone for the RWD way cheaper and that 8kW diference aint there we have driven 2800km and averange consumption is 14.6Kw ATM we are on holiday in Germany and the car charges like a animal 10-80 in 20min And if you need the range add 20min (40-45min total) and your at 100%. Now we mostly stand there for 20min and where back off. We dont even have a charger at the hotel. PS charging fee is between 0.35 and 0.42€ vs 0.69 and 0.93 on local chargers. To me Scenic is a overprice high consumption EV But it looks good....
Just like the car reviews of a decade ago, Robert doesn’t show the boot space! The rear of that vehicle looks superbly spacious though. Thanks for posting.
We’ve had this Iconic Scenic on loan from Renault for the last week. It looks great, has tons of kit, great range, but a couple of things ruin it - my left knee touches the corner of the phone charging tray thingy, it’s uncomfortable and potentially awful in even a slight crash 🥴. It also has a few bugs - the seat doesn’t always go back to the recall position when starting the car. The alarm went off during the night for no obvious reason. The drivers door isn’t great for resting your arm while driving. The plastic ‘key’ thing is awful. I’m being overly harsh, but I don’t think I’d trust it on a four year lease as it just feels a bit too flimsy. It’s a massive step up though, and I’d give it a solid 7/10 even given the negatives. If your knee avoids the phone tray then I’d definitely consider it 👍
Just wondering how easy it is for the front seat passenger to see/operate the infotainment screen, given its angled position? When my wife and I are driving (especially in strange places) we often find it useful if the passenger can prompt the driver and/or set destination, check traffic reports etc.
@@Tradewind25 Well you are clearly not the slightest interested in checking out the vehicle. Most main dealers where I live are in SW Exeter, about 60 miles from me.
@@willswomble7274 I was merely asking a question of someone who had already reviewed the car. It might just be that he, unlike you, would know the answer rather than offering a sarcastic remark.
Yes CarPlay. The built in system is Android Auto so you can run both together, CarPlay just selected on one of the page tabs, then click on home and unit are back to the Google map. The Google map is better than then CarPlay map as it has better route planning, battery pre heat when going to charger, charge stops etc. CarPlay is wireless. The software on this actually seems better than Tesla and I’ve had two Tesla’s.
Interesting, we have just visited the UK from NZ and we had to get used to miles, and yards, and lorries, and an over supply of roundabouts............, but you do have to control 72million people living on an island about the same size as NZ which has a population of just 5million. This place is deserted in comparison. The speed limit signs were a bonus, when it said 50 it was in mph not kmh, great! I can go faster than I thought.
All the details are important... But, in my modest opinion, after 11 years that I am driving only evs, the most important detail to give fir first is, the speed/capacity of charge.... 0-80% and after.
Then I presume you're outside of the 95 percentile model used for the packaging. There will always be compromises. You can please some of the people all of the time...etc
It’s the one big problem I’ve had in my week with this car - my knee naturally rests right on the angle and I dread to think what’d happen to my knee in even a small crash 🥴
Robert, what are your thoughts on the fact that at £40K the Scenic will fall into the Governments Luxury car Tax bracket next year when EV's are no longer exempt adding a rather hefty sum onto each model for the first 4 years?
@@David-qs5ii so others know about them to. It's a new car. It improves on the Megane. It also has the amazing digital rearview mirror which very few cars do.
So weird on the Solar Panels on new homes, I noticed that on my drive to Cornwall this summer. Every new house in Scotland over the last 5 years sems to have them; houses, flats and event the new council houses. Very odd.
Priced right. If the car is more expensive than the Model Y it better show more than some silly buttons. Even more so when the built-in FSD hardware will someday be the #1 item on the car buyers' options list. Many Tesla drivers already swear they will never buy a car without the FSD.
Great review! I had a test drive in this car today. My first time trying an Electric car. I was very impressed. The regeneration braking was hard to get used to, but after a couple of minutes driving the car. I got used to it quite easily. Putting in my order next month. Alpine edition and cannot wait! 😊
Every time I see these videos I asked myself exactly the same thing: WHAT IS THE SOUTH? THE SOUTH OF WHAT? HOW COULD I JOIN YOU IF YOU DON'T SPECIFY WHAT SOUTH YOU'LL BE IN? Thanks.
Two comments, I need to move stuff, one reason why I went for the Tesla Model Y, it has a huge boot. You didn't give any indication of the boot size of the Renault. Secondly, all very well plugging in to a Tesla Supercharger, but you pay more than Tesla owners and a Supercharger station is laid out for cars which have the charging port on the rear left corner of the car, not on the front left wing as shown on the Renault. You would have to take up two charging bays.
The best thing about this car is that it is not a Tesla. About 5 years ago I was so excited to buy a Tesla. However, I have changed my mind. I won't ever buy anything from Elon Trump. If I had a Tesla I would sell it asap. Don't support tyrannical leaders in business or in life.
I was looking at a new house on the weekend, with the intention to potentially buy it, until the salesperson told me that this phase would not be having solar installed. She looked a bit sad when I ended the viewing right there.
Citroen Picasso / Spacetourer had 3 full size seats in the back. Why do manufacturers of "family" cars think that 2 seats plus a bump that passes for a seat in the middle that no-one wants to sit in is acceptable? And why do reviewers never think about the people who will use family cars?
Mmmm...clicky buttons...nice!!! I love physical controls, does that make me a grumpy old man? Tesla cars remind me of Apple products, flashy and different but somewhat hard to get used to. I used to own an iPod and, as much as it was nice to carry so many albums in such a small space it drove me crazy. It had so many little features that were counter intuitive to me and I would often activate them by accident. I now own several SanDisk Clip Sports which are very simple to understand and user friendly. I don't want a lot of techno-flash that has a learning curve, I want something that works well and does what I expect it to do. That's why I love my Clip Sports, have little interest in Apple products and would probably prefer a Renault Scenic over a Tesla Model Y. Honestly, I'd also prefer this kind of user friendliness in a smaller package.

Never been interested in an electric car but this one I find myself really wanting it. Probably never will be able to afford it but still.
Looks good. Sounds like you should get it, Robert. (Getting a bit embarrassing to be seen in and associated with Tesla at this point anyway.)
With regards to the Tesla charing point, was that a Tesla Supercharger or a Tesla charger open to other EV's? I have read conflicting information.
Totally agree the Renault Driver Assist systems are very chilled and easy to get on with and also easy to turn off. They’ve really stepped up their game. 25k miles in 15mth in Mégane etech fault and squeak free.
I have a 9 year old Zoe and we can still get nearly 100 miles around town. My best was a 20 mile trip that made 6.1 miles per kwh.... 😊
7:03 That made me laugh! I live in Brazil, and the WINTER sky here is clear blue!
Robert, please, show us the boot! You forgot on the last review too!
I already had high hopes for the 5, but after watching this im sure it will be even better than I thought.
Wow, 5kw/mile! That's impressive Robert. I felt the same with my driving habits in my 2023 Nissan Leaf Plus with the 214hp (160kwh) motor. The best I've gotten is 4.2kw/mile.
Hat's off to you Sir Robert!😀
Wrong way round. 5 miles per kWh! You wouldn't get very far at 5kWh per mile.
@@keithoneill6273 oh, very true. 🤭
I’m liking the range not being an issue on newer EVs. As infrastructure and charging options improve, I can see that going away completely. It has to, tech will push it that way. Electricity is always all around us.
It largely has for most trips now
As I start planning to replace my E208 I NEED to see boot space/ease of access, as GreyFox474 says.
Had mine for a little more than a week Love it .
Not one look in the boot AGAIN.
Come on guys it's pretty basic stuff. I get you're more interested in the motor battery etc but the boot is important
Renault is really smashing it design wise. I've seen a couple of these on the road and look really nice! I'm looking to possibly replace my Ioniq5 with the Meganne or Renault 5 (replacment list grows every week) as I dont need a car as big as the Senic, or this could be on the list.
i´m very impressed with this car the Design, the range and the price is relatively okey and is very pleasant to drive
Boot space? Can it charge at 22kw on AC?
Is a 7 seat Grande version going to be available?
5 seater only I read. A shame.
@@TimN3 seems like everyone has got rid of saloons and 7 seaters and replaced them all with fat 5 seat SUV's, is this America our Europe?
Nice size car , 3 x stalks is too busy .
Coming from a merc glc ,where all is laid out so well
Another satisfying video from the Fully Charged team
currently watching the celebrity antiques roadtrip you did - where does that plug in then :D
Just imagine what we might have in 4 - 5 years, with promises of 2 - 3 times the capacity
coming soon.
I have scenic 2 and I like that car it is very convinient, hope one day I could buy ev version.
Great to hear this good news review
Robert is really, really clear about his opinions. Really.
I've always liked Renault, proper everyman cars for anyone. My first car was a Clio and my second EV a Zoe. Little to fault either of them, they just got on with the job.
Picking my Scenic beggining of December :)
Does anyone know if batteries are pouch or prismatic?
I was going to buy this....
But then when in the car schop its 53000€ for the version that was good spec.
87kW or 61kW usable and charges in 40min
Model Y rwd price 35000€ after a 5000€ deduction premie
(60kW LFP 100% chargign posible) 52kW usable.
And all revieuws schowing that Scenic is using around 19kw/100km
We have gone for the RWD way cheaper and that 8kW diference aint there we have driven 2800km and averange consumption is 14.6Kw
ATM we are on holiday in Germany and the car charges like a animal 10-80 in 20min
And if you need the range add 20min (40-45min total) and your at 100%. Now we mostly stand there for 20min and where back off. We dont even have a charger at the hotel.
PS charging fee is between 0.35 and 0.42€ vs 0.69 and 0.93 on local chargers.
To me Scenic is a overprice high consumption EV
But it looks good....
Just like the car reviews of a decade ago, Robert doesn’t show the boot space! The rear of that vehicle looks superbly spacious though. Thanks for posting.
Yeah, for what's supposedly is the 'perfect family car'.
Team Fully Charged... Please write and talk also in km? Not only miles? The world is using the metric system 😅. Thank you very much 🤗
We’ve had this Iconic Scenic on loan from Renault for the last week. If your knee avoids the phone tray then I’d definitely consider it 👍
Another review thank you Robert
Just wondering how easy it is for the front seat passenger to see/operate the infotainment screen, given its angled position? When my wife and I are driving (especially in strange places) we often find it useful if the passenger can prompt the driver and/or set destination, check traffic reports etc.
Well sit in it and play with it!
@@willswomble7274 Now why didn’t think of that? Well, it’s easier said than done when your nearest Renault dealer is 40 miles away!
Not sure if I missed it but is CarPlay in the radio??? Great review Robert :)
Yes it will have it. But the OS of car car is Android Automotive
I'm sure Robert enjoyed the sunroof for hours 😂❤😂❤
Robert you are really good at reviewing cars now
When did the UK go metric? 1965
@@TerryHickey-xt4mfwhere did you get 72 million from? It’s about 65 in GB.
All the details are important... But, in my modest opinion, after 11 years that I am driving only evs, the most important detail to give fir first is, the speed/capacity of charge.... 0-80% and after.
What’s towing limit - braked. Renault’s answer is peculiar , based on driver only. Can you help.
I am not sure that my left knee would be comfortable, as Robert's knee clearly touched the console's angle.
Plastic sarcophagus and clutter... now that is annoying.
Yes. Beautiful car. But what are EUCs ?
Blimey if this ends up being cheaper in Australia than the Model Y, it might just be my pick...
No mention of the digital rearview mirror, self opening trunk, no frunk
You obviously know about these things already, so why bother to tell you again?
@@David-qs5ii so others know about them to.
It's a new car.
It improves on the Megane.
It also has the amazing digital rearview mirror which very few cars do.
What happened to displaying modern, civilized range and consumption numbers on this video? (your other videos have it, right?) :)
So weird on the Solar Panels on new homes, I noticed that on my drive to Cornwall this summer.
Every new house in Scotland over the last 5 years sems to have them; houses, flats and event the new council houses. Very odd.
Make this a Talisman and I'll order TODAY!!
Looks good but the front wing has got to be the worst position for a charging port.
Thank you.
Priced right. If the car is more expensive than the Model Y it better show more than some silly buttons. Even more so when the built-in FSD hardware will someday be the #1 item on the car buyers' options list. Many Tesla drivers already swear they will never buy a car without the FSD.
Was this reuploaded? Watched this this morning already 🤔
Yes. Text was messed up
@@bigdhav Oh yeah you are right. I remember seeing that but somehow thought it was intentional
Apologies, we had to re-upload due to a small export glitch. Hope you enjoyed!
Great review! I had a test drive in this car today. My first time trying an Electric car. I was very impressed. The regeneration braking was hard to get used to, but after a couple of minutes driving the car. I got used to it quite easily. Putting in my order next month. Alpine edition and cannot wait! 😊

Do you apply the same passion to Chinese products?
So no US leaders then.....😂😂😂
How annoying is it with new homes not having mandatory solar panels. Instead let's stick them all on farm land🤯
I was looking at a new house on the weekend, with the intention to potentially buy it, until the salesperson told me that this phase would not be having solar installed. She looked a bit sad when I ended the viewing right there.
It is mandatory in Hungary for newly built houses
@anemeth9281 I should of said in the UK. Our government couldn't lie straight in bed or run a tap let alone run a country however
the red colour in sport mode feels more like a warning rather than agressive 😂 great car nonetheless
