Car Buyer you are so far off the mark with this car, and scoring it 2.5 out of 5.0 is ridiculous, its not a sports car and wasn't designed to be, solid, economical, reliable, looks good, good warranty, space for the whole family, most buyers aren't looking for cars that handle like sports cars, wake-up please
Not if you avoid the disastrous diesels and go for the 1.8 vvt-i and the even more pornographic 2.0 vvt-i that goes toe to toe with BMW and whatever Germoney has to offer... Oh and one more thing : Drove the 2.2D-Cat 170 bhp Avensis T25 and that car was everything but sedate
"most buyers aren't looking for cars that handle like sports car" I think you are wrong on that score.................2.5 out o 5 correct, it is ridiculous
I`d rather have a "boring" car that goes forever and is well built than one which is unreliable and will cost a fortune to fix when the reverse helix CO2 sensor, or whatever, gives up (which the dealer insists never happens even though its a regular posting on that cars web forum). My fourth Toyota is a gem. Long may they continue to make superb cars.
Overall, this is a nice car. What I found especially great is that Matt pointed out that all around visibility is great. What surprises me is that Matt often complains about hard interiors. I also thought it was rather classy design. He doesn't do it too often, but here it looked like he was just trying to find not so nice things to say about it.
***** Well, Toyota has always been known for their 'badge of reliability.' It's also worth noting that the Japanese were careful not to over engineer their cars or make their parts so exclusive that it would be hard for your average mechanic to get them. American: My Ford broke down so much, it should have had a warning label on it. My Dodge on the other hand was MUCH better. Some European cars are good. But you take your chances that it will be hell for your mechanic whenever he has to order something.
Hahaha, I love it. "Reliable up to 100k" yeah that is nothing compared to what Toyotas can achieve. 2004 model priuses are coming back to Toyota with nearly half a million miles on the clock, on their original batteries and they are still running. An avensis will run up to 300,000 miles with little to no problems. Fords are not quality products and are not built to last. They never have been.
I drive a 2009 Toyota Avensis T4. Loads of extras and is the most reliable car I ever owned. It's fast enough in the low revs when I need it and is very comfortable. A number of people I know are very impressed with all the extras on it. I happen to love the look of the car and mine is looked after better than the wife. I have no intention of trading up anytime soon.
Charles Mc Carthy Hi , there , looking to buy it , 2009 , I test drove it from Toyota dealer , m a bit disappointed with lots of cable noise , otherwise m happy with the specs, so a bit confused , what will you suggest me to go for it
Muhammad Imran Hi Mohammad, I agree the cabin insulation could be better, but to be honest like anything in life, after a short time one doesn't even notice it. The deal breaker for me are the things that actually affect the finances. At 09 a lot of cars will start developing issues that's where Toyota comes into their own. Your decision really comes down to use and can you live with the car. I travel long journeys and its very comfortable. I would have no problem recommending this car. Best of luck whatever you decide!
I just don't understand where this nonsense comes from regarding the VW badge. What sort of people think a VW has more status than a Toyota.......and why?
The people who think VW and Audi are better generally dont know much about cars. VAG spend their money on marketing to make an average product seem above average. Toyota /Honda etc spend the money on quality control. When a fault is found with a Japaenes car they recall the cars and fix it. With VW you have to take them to court first. Not to mention that VAG fiddle emmisions figures and test exhaust gases on humans and monkeys. I would never give money to a company that does that!
You have to remember that Toyotas quality brand is Lexus so they have to keep some sort of differentiation between the Brand Names, ie not take the luxury sales away from Lexus.
I gotta' admit, The Toyota holds its value well! I had a Toyota Corolla 2003 SE Saloon - Had an accident, which caused the whole right side to end up in a mess, the bumpers, headlamp, side skirts, both right side doors, side skirts, and the side seats ended up in a disaster... Yet again I was able to sell the car in 2010 in more than half its price.
You guys are absolutely right. OK the Toyota may not be as sexy to look at but I used to work in a break down company and let me tell you I used to get a Toyotas and Honda's only in a blue moon but your French, Germans and British motors on a daily basis. BMW mini 1's were the worst offenders I have ever seen in my life next to the Vauxhall insignia and the pugs, citrons and fords. If you want to pay out your backside for repairs then by all means take this guy's advice and get a good looking problem riddled sexy looking car. But if you want a car for what it was designed for in the first place then you cant go wrong with a Toyota 👍👍

The majority of Toyotas are more like transportation appliances than something you'd have fun in... which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Many people (especially in the US) just want something that gets them where they need to go with the least amount of trouble or effort. Put the Avensis against its main UK rivals, and yes, it's boring as hell. But it will probably outlast most of those rivals, too.

Mercs? Terrible resell value? I don't think so, the only ones depreciating fast are the High Power Petrols, but the diesels are reselling for good. And they probably have enough money to throw it away while most of us don't.
I rented one of these while I was in Britain, and honestly, it felt a lot like the old Opel Vectra. Solid, but decidedly dull and uninteresting. That being said it feels like a mid-engined Italian supercar compared to the average Camry.
@ashystyle rather neck myself than own a toyota. they offer less equipment in the small car and medium segment in terms of safety, breaking and performance.
believe me a Cruze is no were near a toyota.. and i'm a shameful cruze owner!.. have a 1.8 manual Cruze with only 55000 km on it.. and have already changed the flywheel twice! at one point it ran out of engine oil (almost borke the engine) ! it had an electrical problem that shut down the engine in the middle of the mountains in albania! it uses much more fuel than they say it does ! so seriosly anyone who is thinking about a chevrolet please DONT DO IT ! by a second hand toyota!!! or a VW!!
What the heck badge it's desirable as VW Passat? Toyota is wayyyyyyy more desirable than VW at any day. VW is crap and it doesn't have resell value at all.
Not really, it's got simple styling that stay's fashionable longer than some other daring styles and the lines are sleek. There are far worse looking cars, my family owned a Fiat Multipla a few years back, practical as hell but known as the ugly bug.

Oh no, my family economy machine isn't premium enough.
The body style of this toyota reminds me of a Chevy Cruze.
@ashystyle rather neck myself than own a toyota. they offer less equipment in the small car and medium segment in terms of safety, breaking and performance.
Dude, you shouldn't choose what car to buy based on the resell value.
Is this fast ?
Luca Ferrigno nuttall . 205km/h 2.0 gasoline engine.
believe me a Cruze is no were near a toyota.. and i'm a shameful cruze owner!.. have a 1.8 manual Cruze with only 55000 km on it.. and have already changed the flywheel twice! at one point it ran out of engine oil (almost borke the engine) ! it had an electrical problem that shut down the engine in the middle of the mountains in albania! it uses much more fuel than they say it does ! so seriosly anyone who is thinking about a chevrolet please DONT DO IT ! by a second hand toyota!!! or a VW!!
Car buyer is always promoting the ford mondeo but overlooks how unreliable it really is
What the heck badge it's desirable as VW Passat? Toyota is wayyyyyyy more desirable than VW at any day. VW is crap and it doesn't have resell value at all.
Not really, it's got simple styling that stay's fashionable longer than some other daring styles and the lines are sleek.
There are far worse looking cars, my family owned a Fiat Multipla a few years back, practical as hell but known as the ugly bug.
@JIMBOBERS333 No and No you pull it up when your about to leave and when ur on a hill you push it down
i prefer the 2007 avensis
@igotwhips no. Totally different car. The two have nothing to do with each other.
Lovely

güzelmiş bencede çok eleştirilecek bir yanı yok
volkswagen took that title from them a while ago... might had something to do with a little pedal incident and the tsunami
is it just me or does this car look similar to the suzuki kazashi...go check it out and somebody tell me what you think im almost positive they are similar
из всех таёт мне больше всего понравилась эта.

I'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THIS THING BEFORE.

@ashystyle I checked it out and it counts in miles for the warranty , UK / US website ? anyways i've always had 5 years/100.000 kms warranty with toyota. at least for the last 5 years (wasn't that interested in cars before then, had a cheap peugeot hatchback). check out toyota.be or toyota.fr

2:51 what is that black shadow there in the back?
The camera man probably.
where do you live ?!!
Only problem i'd have is that the door and door handles are huge and oddly shaped!
The previous model looks so much better.
Por que Nicolás Mora está probando autos😅
0:30 little details taht put me off toyota, cheap mats that stick up when you fold the seats down. And in the Wagon, no handle for the boot cover, so u gotta dirty it with ur hands
obviously a Korean-made-and-rebrended Chevrolet is no match to Toyota, I was talking about the looks
