- Today we are testing the New Covergirl Skin Perfector Essence and this didn't go as expected! I also will be testing a liquid eyeshadow by Covergirl, a new concealer by Revlon, mascara by Pat McGrath, a Charlotte Tilbury look alike, and a blush from Essence! I will be doing an over 8-hour wear test and seeing what is worth your coin!

Lovely look! I purchased the Covergirl essence about two weeks ago and I love it. I use my fingers initially, then press it into my skin with a sponge. It really is a beautiful foundation.

I got a hold of this foundation and I loved it - I was kind of taken aback by the cost of it but then I saw the ingredient list and I understand that Bakuchiol is NOT a cheap ingredient and has great skincare properties. I apply mine with a brush and I was really impressed with it too (I'm 58 with dry skin). I was really pleased with how it wore throughout the day on me. Those Essence blushes are so underrated! Thanks for the review! And yeah, boo to that PM mascara!!!!

I was completely thrown off guard by that foundation! I would have never purchased if I didn't have a channel and never seen a review. It's definitely a product that looks like it would be a complete fail! I was completely thrown off by the mascara as well! I thought that was going to be the star of the Show 😳 the bronzer is fantastic, and so is the blush that came with it. I tried that today! Have a wonderful weekend sweetheart XOXO 😘

@@LauraFagelmanI have the Chanel one. In two shades, that’s how NUTS I am. It is nowhere near as pigmented as the Covergirl one. It’s much more watery. After it dries down, at best, it looks like you applied a serum and maybe just a tiny bit of foundation. I rarely use it, except maybe to mix with a foundation I find too heavy - works well for that, but so would any inexpensive light moisturizer.

This foundation is a 100% dupe for the Chanel Waterfresh Tint and $50 LESS!!! 100% SPOT ON... I have both and tested them side by side on my own and was blown away!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have to say that when I use my hands to apply foundation, I like it better as well. It must be the warmth of our hands that just melts the makeup perfectly. But, I still apply with a sponge only because I don't like the clean up of my hands.
I hear ya!! Using the hands has its disadvantages! I found I get more coverage using my hands too. Did you get the same results? It's a beautiful product either way. I'm so happy I ignored the price tag and went for it ❤️😘

I got this foundation and am absolutely blown away by it. I have spent ridiculous amounts of money on foundations - like Clé de Peau crazy, but no more. Between the L'Oreal Age Perfect serum foundation in the tube, and this Covergirl essence one - I will not pay for department store foundation again. I blend this essence on my hand before applying it with my fingers. My skin looks radiant! FYI: I really like your closeups - it really helps to see how it is done - Thank you!
Isn't it crazy that this is a drugstore product! They really hot the mark on this one! I thought I loved the simply ageless foundation, but I think I like this essence even more! Thank you for letting me know how this holds up to your more expensive brands XOXO 😘

You just popped up on my homepage, and I am so happy to see someone that is not in their 20’s or 30’s doing makeup. I have the Covergirl Essence foundation, but I can’t find a skincare product that goes well with it. I have extremely dry skin, and I have to use a good moisturizer under my foundation or I will look like I am 60 instead of in my 40’s. Every single moisturizer that I use makes that foundation pill on me. Everything has silicone in it these days, so it’s impossible to find a moisturizer or primer without silicone in it. I am in Michigan too!
Hello my MI friend!! GO LIONS! I'm so excited you are here! Thank you so much!! As for foundation with skincare, you honestly won't need as much skincare. It may be too much. Try using a serum instead of a moisturizer. Have you tried snail mucin? It's amazing!! Very hydrating and has worked with all my foundations! Also, make sure to wait at least 10 min to let the products sink in before applying foundations that pill with your products. I use snail mucin, timeless coenzyme Q10 serum, and elfs whoa Glow sunscreen with this foundation and had no pilling. Hope this helps. 😭😘
@@LauraFagelmanSnail Mucin breaks me out. I am that girl😂 I take three hours to do my makeup, because I just take my time. I do eyes first, so my skincare is on for at least an hour before I put any foundation on. If I use a primer (rare for me), I even let that sit for at least a half hour. I am going to try a super hydrating water based serum and see if that helps. I am always on the hunt for anything that is light and super hydrating.
Just stumbled into your tutorial here today - so I pulled up a chair and I'm so glad I did! Us chick's lives who aren't 20 yrs young anymore, matter. Lol

I love it!! It's perfect for winter months when the air is so dry. I suggest using fingers or a brush. Because it's made of 70%water, the sponge just absorbs the product. I hope you love it!! XOXO ❤️ 😘

I have 4 of those serum foundations, all high end except for the Covergirl - and think the Covergirl one is the best of them all. I just don’t prefer the dry down feel of any of them. Could be the skincare I use under them, but they have a sort of waxy feel on my skin.
Oh wow!! That does say a lot, though! Sometimes high-end just means higher cost, but not high quality I have found. Don't get me wrong, there are some high-end gems out there, but there are also some fails. Yes, it definitely could be the skincare under it. I have learned that if a foundation has skincare, I back way back in my skincare. To much can be drying and messing with the formula. Especially if it has HA in the foundation, I definitely won't use HA for skincare. Hope this helps XOXO 😘

You're so welcome! Yes, definitely try with fingers! I definitely liked that side better. I also didn't use any primer, just SPF. I wait a good 15 minutes for that to soak in before applying any foundation 😉😘

Thanks for your honest reviews for “mature ladies.” I’m one at 67.😮 I’d just be careful with the dupes though. Didn’t see that anyone reported skin or allergic reactions, 👍 but there are some pretty scary reports about high-end dupe makeup from China. We all have to practice “buyer beware.” Just sayin’. 🙂

I just got my foundation or essence in the mail and tried it today! Unfortunately I got too dark of a shade but the finish is lovely! I’m going to order a lighter shade and save this for summer.

Awe, I know that feeling so well. Maybe purchase as you need. Like have a little list. When a product of yours is empty, try one from the list next. I also put a lot in my carts and let them sit for 7-10 days. If I still REALLY want it, I will purchase it. 😉😘

I love that new Cover Girl Essence as well. I originally bought the light and it was way too late for me and I went to the light medium and it's just fine I think you should try the light medium.

LOL, just mix your current favorite foundation with a pump of COSRX Snail Mucin Power Essence. It is kind of slimy but it is super moisturizing and will make your foundation seem much more skin like.

Yes, I agree they definitely can. In my case, they often make me look ill. This one had a more rosey undertone, so it didn't give me the sickly vibe. The unfortunate thing is it faded on my hooded eyes. 😩

I honestly think it would work well with oily skin. It dries down like an essence. It's like applying water! I don't think there is any oil in it, and it doesn't have any slip when dry, but I agree 100% on the price tag 👎😘

@@LauraFagelman ok, I had been a flight attendant for 33 years and I can’t use high maintenance make up so it’s basically one and done I was using the elf lip stain in the darker brown color on the outside and then with a brush I would use a different color stain on the inside for an ombre effect. Depending on what kind of gloss I would use, really makes my lips look amazing. Now that I’m not flying, I still use it and try different lip stains for different effects. They last all day and if my lips get dry, I just touch it up with a beautiful gloss.
The trick is to tap it lightly with your finger for a subtle effect. If you don’t wanna use your finger, use a Q-tip. Lasts all day, even after eating!

I am 61, and I have cholesterol pockets above my eyelids. Any ideas in how to make them disappear with makeup?
I honestly think I would either get an eyeprimer that matches them. That way, they get camouflaged with the primer and then use eyeshadows that are darker around them. Kind of like my hood, I use the dark shades to conceal the hood. It also depends on where the pockets are on your lids. If they are in the inner corner, you could really play around with some shimmers to mask them. I think you should just really play with a bunch of different looks and colors and find what works. It's all trial and error with any makeup look. The key is to step out of the box and not be afraid to take risks. If you don't like how it looks, wash it off and try something else. XOXOXO 😘

Now, when you say you have no lashes, do you mean that literally, or are they just sparse and hard to see them? If you don't have any lashes, the only solution I know would be to wear falsies, but I know they can be complicated to apply. But with practice, it's definitely achievable. Now, if they are just sparse and hard to see them. I suggest applying castor oil to them at night. Apply with a spooly. You can purchase both the oil and spooly right off Amazon. For mascara, lawless one and done mascara is fabulous! It really thickens and lengthens the lashes! Hope this helped Linda 🤞😘

It goes together beautifully!! That's been my combo for the past week!! Just wait for the essence to dry down as much as possible before going over it with the LG! It's great if you want just a little more coverage and everything lasts ALL day XOXO 😘

Really? How does it stop smudging? Did you have that problem at first? Also, it was super clumpy. The only word to explain is, cakey on the lashes. Maybe I got a dud?
@@LauraFagelman it dries a little I wipe the brush when I am pulling it out and usually most mascaras don’t perform well first time you use them at least for me a junkie makeup lover 😂
