- CoverGirl just released their new Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence Hydro Fresh Tint. You know the weird one with the microdroplets that are supposed to blend seamlessly onto the skin and create a radiant bare-skin filter effect. I have been testing it out and boy, do I have some thoughts on this "drugstore' skin tint! It's gone viral before hitting the stores! Update! As you know, this Skin Perfector can be used as a primer. I used it under one of my trusted foundations that I love, (RMS Beauty Re-Evolve foundation) and it did make the foundation "bunge up " around my upper lip and chin area, almost creating a "separation " of primer and foundation. I prepped my skin accordingly and made certain the Covergirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector was applied evenly, but received the same results 😕 I hope this helps you out! Cat, thank you so much for commenting on the appearance of this product! I probably won't try it, mainly for the price, but with my oily skin, I feel like it would slide right off. But I'm not sure I can get past the appearance. It looks like it went bad and is all separated. And $20 for something that's 70% water?! I realize they want you to compare it to a $70 product and think you are getting a deal, but in my mind, that doesn't justify the high prices of these intentional drugstore dupes (and I'm talking about elf here too). And any foundation that can't go a full 8 hours at least is a no for me. I don't want to touch my face after I apply my makeup. No blotting, no powdering. Just don't want to think about it. My complexion is normal to dry, but it did separate on my chin and around my upper lip. It looked great at first, but it definitely separated at the end of the day. What a bummer! Especially when you can get much better with the Maybelline for a lot less $$. Thank you for spending your $$ so we don’t have to! hi Cat! 🙋🏻♀️ I was excited about this new Covergirl essence/tint, whatever the heck is 😆 but it seems to be one of those products that people either love or hate, it takes a lot of work to spread out evenly and I've seen other reviews where it just doesn't get along with their skincare, quite finicky IMO, and for the price 😳 I'd expect it to apply by itself, to cook, to do my laundry and my dishes 🤣 so it's gonna be a pass for me, but thnx so much for your honest review 🤗 and congrats on 10K!!! 🎉 I'm happy for you, you deserve that and more 😉 have an awesome day my beautiful friend, hugzzz 💜🌹

excellent review … i have the chanel one but i don’t use it all the time … but i think chanel foundations really deliver . it’s not really practical all the time but it came w a brush and was very quick and easy and natural looking . but i’m going to try the maybelline tint . on lazy days etc i don’t want to use my expensive foundations . cute hairdo too ☺️
The Maybelline skin tint is pretty good but just know it's really not like a skin tint, it's really more like a medium coverage foundation imo
I am also reminded of the Rose Inc serum tint. Oh you just said that…lol
It looks nice, Cat, but I think I'm going to pass on it for now. I appreciate the review, but to be honest, it seems kind of weird and gimmicky as well as pricey for something that is 71% water. I looked nice in the beginning, though, I must say! I found a foundation that truly does not settle into my lines, bunch up, or look matte and it's powder, believe it or not-Laura Geller's Balance n Glow in Fair as well as the Balance n Brighten version in Light. I love these and use them even if I use a sheer foundation thinly spread first. It's the first high end foundation I've ever had, got it in their sale that made them drop from $38 to just $19. And I also got a retractable brush from the brand, very cool. I just make sure my skin is juiced up before I put on the powder. Thankfully, I don't have dry skin, but I do have a good bit of texture and I was not happy with most of the liquid foundations and skin tints I tried. By the way, it was 3* at my house this morning, brrrrrr! ~Cynthia
I have to agree with you, I did not like the Chanel one and I was not looking forward to get this. For me I prefer something that its a bit thicker.

I totally disagree. I put a drop directly on a soft foundation brush and it blends right in. No problems at all. I use drop by drop until I get the coverage I want which to be honest is natural. The essence is smoothing and blurring and lasts all day. I’m very happy with it and have been wearing everyday for 4 weeks. I also wanted to try the Chanel product but didn’t want to spend the money. Now I’m glad I don’t have to. I’m almost 61 yo, have large pores on nose cheeks and chin and normal skin, neither oily or wet. This foundation works well over moisturizer and sunscreen. I wouldn’t put a foundation on top because that would be too much coverage for my go to work look. I should add that I can also put it on with my fingers and it applies easily.

I tried this skin tint and I too was rather unimpressed. It was a pain in the butt to apply and it looked really nice at first but didn't wear off very gracefully. Kinda bummed. If it had worked as a primer that would have softened the blow a bit. Oh wellllll

I had the same problem with that weird Covergirl foundation. You have to rub and rub and rub to get it spread out and then it doesn’t last?!? Other beauty TH-camrs like it but I sure didn’t?!? Thanks, Cat!!!

Hello @midlifemom5829 ✨️ great question! Benzyl alcohol is the 7th ingredient listed, with water/eau as the first ingredient and glycerine as the second. I'm still testing this out, as a primer, but seriously, if it's a great deal of work and money, I'd pass on this and go with a skin tint that requires less work, and ingredients that can potentially dry out the complexion despite 71% water and 0.5% Bakuchiol. It's not a pleasant experience 🤣

Kat I think your lights are too bright and you look washed out. I would’ve loved to see The difference the make up was doing on your skin. At least this is what I saw. I love your channel and watch you always.

I have no interest in this. It's a lot of money for so little coverage. I'm not a skin tint kind of lady, though. My holy grail base is my Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow foundation. I've been really happy with that and no desire to try anything else in that skin perfecting/foundation category. I do appreciate you trying this out for us, though, Cat!
It's definitely pricey, especially for drugstore! @karekausnicolli4890 😳 I was really intrigued by the microdroplets and see if they would work on the complexion.
