CLIMBERS Rip My Legs OFF

- The second day of the May Surrey League 3 Day Stage Race Day, saw us on a completely different course to Stage 1 and after a flat and fast race we would now be tackling the hills of Surrey, creating a completely new race.
This one was like an interval session, with super fast cruise decents and then into fall gas 'legs ripped off' climbs.
Unfortunately, it wasn't my day with back issues and the boys at the front were super strong. A breakaway got away after 3/4 of the race and stayed away, with a reduced bunch chasing and me in the grupetto.
A super hard 2 days of racing and stage 3 had to be cancelled due to road works - which to be honest was a good job as I couldn't take another leg ripping! Back to the MTB for me now.

Were all these people going to the same café ? That's a lot of cake !
Nice commentary, esp. the "breakaway did get away and stayed away" 😆😉 thanks for the insights, very cool to watch !
😂 if it was a race to the cafe I would of been in the yellow jersey 😜😂
I’m a 1 take man on the commentary… any mistakes I just hope get missed 😬😂
Looks like you have plenty more to give there mate... you were cruising up those climbs... Casual 1,000w out of the corners too.......
Yeah legs have been feeling good recently, just a few little niggles with the back/ribs which should hopefully clear soon 🤞
Love your banter! Great vid 🤓
Watching this makes me want to do a few road races again next year!
Next year… get involved this year 😜
Keep racing all you can. One helps the other.
nice video G, good to see how the race panned out- keep up the odd road race or crit, makes you stronger for the proper MTB stuff :) Ben gave it a good go getting the early break, well done lads
Yeah it definitely helps but it’s not as exciting/fun as racing on the mtb that’s for sure! Full send from Ben a lot of balls to do that 😂
A great look into road racing.
I think the slow corners are just the concertina effect, less change in speed up the front.
100% it’s why positioning is so important in road racing
What does flick the elbow mean at 5 mins? Is he telling you to pass? Great vid!
Yeah, or the old dual elbow flick if you're getting out the saddle
Well done Ben! You never score a goal if you don't take the shots...
100%
I can relate to back issues in races. It makes the race that much harder and it’s very annoying
It certainly does and you feel like you can’t put down the power as you are worried about your back all race 😅
Cracking vid mate. Sort your position out ffs😅 , you're going really well but back pain is your limiter, get a bike fit maybe. Mixing it with the fast boys didn't phase you and if you are moving up and down the bunch you obviously can do it and are learning to race more effectively. Good show😎
I’m not sure a bike fit would help… I think I may have damaged a rib when I crashed my mtb a few weeks back 😅 I should have rested but being stubborn decided to crack on and the more aggressive bike position probably didn’t help 😬 It’s slowly feeling better though so hopefully I will be back 100% soon 🤞
lmfao, more sniper clips pls. They need to be in every road vid you do.
Going to start making my own if anyone crashes on camera… they crack me up 😂
When I’m doubt. Flick the elbow 😂
100% although I did try it during Sundays mtb race and they looked at me as if to say this ain’t a road race now son 😂
Definitely get out on the road bike and race
It means that someone wants to shift
Give some time take a break. Let your back recoup. Get it cracked and massaged and try again later
The backs slowly getting better, I should of rested when I originally injured it 3 weeks ago but was too stubborn 😬 hopefully it will be 100% soon 🤞
@Giorgio Coppola Cycling I didn't get a proper fitting when I got my bike last year, the pain was kicking in during my 2nd race, I finally couldn't handle it and dropped after 45 minutes in. It's fitted pretty good now but the fitter said to perfect it I'd need a seat and handlebar extender. Should've been fitted first lol
Do your mtb racing you seem to be taking that more serious now days
It’s definitely my main focus… it’s super hard to fit it all in so maybe focusing on my mtb is the right decision
No George.. do more crits! :)
having said that, you're making me ponder getting an mtb..
Mtb is the way forward trust me… much more fun 😜
@@syrus3k do it mate...come over to the dark side :)
