Just bought the 2015 convertible IPL, I picked it over the BMW 3's and Audi mainly because of the awesome body design. I have yet to see another one (IPL) on the street. The performance speaks for itself. It drives like a dream regardless of what anyone says or compares it to. Go with what you love.
I just bought a black on black '08 G37S manual 6-speed with sat nav package. 43k miles. I love it. Searched for this car for over 2 years. It is a little thirsty when you drive it hard but it's worth it.
The IPL is loaded, a "comparable" 335 or Audi is $8-10K more, I shopped all 3 and went with a Graphite Shadow IPL. Added a K&N Typhoon cold air system and the car pulls hard!! In town gas mileage stinks, getting about 14-16mpg but driving agressively. I like they are pretty rare, only 3200 in 2011, you see Beemers and Audis on every corner here in Dallas. A sports car in a suit, I like it, and they do get a lot of "what's that" looks. I hope IPL does add a turbo version or V8, I'll be there!!
I drive a G37 IPL, and am very pleased. Performance: my best 1/4 time is 14.4 seconds. The G has plenty of torque, but the final drive ratio is less than perfect for 1/4 mile times. The G shifts from 4th to 5th gear just before the finish line. So I am crossing the finish line at the bottom of the torque curve not the top. Automatic transmission: with 6 forward gears, the transmission is always “hunting” for the proper gear. The slightest change in road elevation, and the G will either up of down shift. Reliability is excellent. Other than routine maintenance such as tires and oil changes, I haven’t put a dime into the car. Summary: if you can find a used G37 IPL with less than 50,000 miles, get it. You will be pleased with the bang for your bucks.
@@tommyvercettygt i know but we tested Q50 3.7S vs Q50 hybrid S and around 180km/h ish 3.7 goes faster, hybrid has a very long 4th gear. by logic G37 IPL has less weight similar power to hybrid should outrun it.
Definitely worth it. Interior and drive quality is above the Infiniti (it truly is in a different league, imo). Exhaust note is amazing. Car is extremely quick. Idrive system is really nice, and the appointments are truly first class. Any specific questions?
I drive a G37 IPL, and 365 HP is plenty of punch. Not practical? All the groceries that I need fit in the trunk. And my dog and I are cruising every night. Sport and luxury are always a compromise, and Infinity got the balance right with the IPL.
As an G37 IPL owner, I must say that the car is a great "bang" for your buck if you consider all of the equipment that it comes with. If you want a "pure" sports car; look towards the basic Chevy Corvette or one of the new high performance Mustang's or Camaro's.
The infiniti g series is a great car, when it came out almost a decade ago, but has only undergone a refresh in all that time, reallly needs an update to compete with the germans
Ok, the Infinity: I doubt its worth $51K, its an upgraded Nissan, and it is getting old. The GTR: Shouldn't even be considered a Nissan, it is a class of its own, the best car in the world IMO, extremely fast, affordable for the performance it delivers, no doubt! Congratulations on owning one, I hope you get it soon or are already driving it. As for your comment, whatever man, I have nothing to prove to a vulgar internet troll :)
I have a 2013 IPL. I LOVE my car. And you can't compare it to the Corvette price wise. I looked at the Corvette, for $51,000, you're getting the down and dirty base Vette, the interior on that car sucked. The IPL has every conceivable option, the Corvette, nothing. Oh yeah, HP, it's got that. But for a comparably kitted out Corvette, you're paying at least $75,000. You'd have to get the LT3 or LT4.
This review was terrible. Not because of what the presenter said but what wasn't said. The IPL is Infiniti's performance line and I never heard him mention it. What distinguishes an IPL from a regular G37s? Maybe it's just me but I like more information regarding its performance and engineering opposed to its practicality.
Marcel West-Bailey There weren't many performance enhancements to the IPL. Horsepower output increased from 330 to 348 and torque slightly increased from 270 to 276. The suspension is also retuned, increasing spring rates by 20% in the front and 10% out back, along with slightly upgraded brakes. Wheels were also made an inch wider. (1/2 inch wider when compared to the G37S). The IPL also comes stock with Bridgestone Potenza RE50A summer rubber sized 225/45 in front and 245/40 in the rear, whereas the Journey and G37xS came with all seasons. For the exterior changes, the IPL got new special front and rear fascias, side sills and rear spoiler unique to the IPL. The exhaust tips were also increased in size. Moving on to the interior, the IPL is the only G to have red-stitched sport front seats. The IPL also has 12-way power driver's sport seat, including 2-way power lumbar support with manual thigh extension, power torso and thigh support adjustment for the driver, and an 8-way power front-passenger's sport seat with manual thigh extender. The G37S has the same seat controls except the manual thigh extender on the passengers seat. The IPL comes standard with Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose. It features an 11-speaker Premium Audio System with Bluetooth and Navigation. The IPL is approximately 2 inches longer than the Journey, x or S models measuring 185 inches in length. These are all the differences between the G37 and the IPL. If you see any information I have left out or that is incorrect, please feel free to add it or correct me.
This is a sports car... youre not gonna be taking it on long road trips with your friends.. youre lucky you have 2 extra seats, at least they get to ride shortly... this isnt a car for practicality and economy... its a performance car!!
You can currently get a nice G37 coupe new for about $36,000 after dealer incentives. Don't go for the overpriced limited editions. A nice used example is in the low 20's and still has powertrain warranty on it.
It's practical. I drive a G37S Coupe to work every day. Not sure the IPL is worth the extra $10.000 over a regular G37S coupe. It's only 18hp more and different spoiler, rear bumper and side skirts. Fuel economy is more like 22 on the highway after 3 years of driving. I remember being dissapointed when the IPL came out. I thought they were going to have a v8 with 400+ hp. No sigar.
Replace the standard wheels with wider ones and the base model is better looking. The added plastic work doesn't do it for me. Unless maybe you really slam it and get 20" wheels.
It's a lux car with some sport. This car isn't meant to be a qmile killer. It's funny like when people try to compare the Vette to the Dodge demon. Demon is a straight line built for one thing only car. The Vette is a track built street car. Track meaning road course. I have a 2016 SS Camaro and it's ok, 11.9 qmile. I also have a 2013 IPL g37. Totally different cars, both lux and sporty, but Camaro is more of a brute and the G37 is more relaxed.
Consider this coupe's competition, not much else on the market like it really. More a 2+2, and RWD with an AWD option, it's not a bad choice. Yeah the BMW and Audi seem nicer, but when the miles start getting close to 100K, for most people so does the cost and problems, especially with Audi. I've worked at german auto repair shops over the years and went from really loving german cars while considering japanese cars as boring piles of compromise to seeing german cars as trouble and the better japanese cars as still kind of boring, but much longer lasting. Recently I found a near mint G37x AWD with all deler service records for a lower price than competing BMW's and I'm damned impressed that infinity left some sporting edges in this car. You can hear the engine and the drive is firm and tight rather than soft, and when pushed hard it holds the road well, unlike my old 530 that would easily misbehave in fast turns. I hope to have many good years with this car.
nice review thanks alot I have the 5 speed one its more sporter than the 7 speed I drove it too but the 7 softer and economy I race me friends have the 7 and after 3 gear I won about 3 cars or more
Nissan/Infiniti could have made this car so beast... Could have made it a v6 twin turbo pushing 470-500 HP... A v8 supercharged... Hell anything to be honest, but instead added 18 HP... Come on... IPL could have been like an M or AMG for the G37 IPL, M56 IPL and maybe a QX56 IPL..

Weird comparisons below.... No, a G37 will not outrun a Boss 302 at the stop light but it will leave it in the dust on a mountain road. It's apples and oranges... you don't normally compare a GT to a muscle car.
You DO realize that's a G25, NOT a G35, right? One is making 218hp and the other 330hp. That's like showing a comparo with a V6 camaro and making fun of the V8 version. G35/37 has always done well in comparison tests.
We agree in my main point, that it is over priced, and I too like infiniti as a whole, as well as nissan. Frankieboi is going crazy because I said the g37 is over priced. Sorry, but IMO it is! Cheers Fozzy
This is the IPL version, not any regular G37. I love this car, but must say that when it comes to 'badge' factor BMW, Mercedes and Audi win every time. This car will definitely kill the stock MB C350/Audi A5... but won't stand a chance against a BMW 335i (or iS which the IPL version of the Infiniti G aims to compete with - both the 'supped up' versions of the stock cars) or the Audi S5.
Did you test drive a normal 335i before the 335is? I would like to know whether you think the extra money is worth it for the IS version, and what made you decide?
The IPL is for thoes who wants more oumf with out having to go around and buy the after market goods. I would get the G37Sx, go nuts with the brakes, suspensions wheels and tire. More grip the better! Then I would unplug the engin with high flow cats, titanium exhaust, cold air intake and ECU chip! Wen I get bored with that... a sweet twin snail set up! a full surgery under the hood but no more then 600WHP, for the street and moi, its beyond enought!
As opposed to an Audi/Bentley/Bugatti (upscale VW), Acura (upscale Honda), Lexus (upscale Toyota), or Jag/Land Rover (upscale Tata [by your own logic])?
@djpr0n I didn't test drive one, but had been in my friends a few times. I think it's worth it. IS is a limited model, DCT transmission is amazing and the exhaust is perfect. I have some videos on my channel. the style 313 rims are also awesome. if you load a 335 with all the options the 335is has, price will be similar, except you won't get that limited edition badge. I loved my G37S, but honestly, I just always felt it was inferior to the 335 and that G37 -> 335 was a natural progression
Does anybody have their original floor mats that say IPL G37 on them that they're willing to sell? I'm looking for the IPL ones not the ones with the Infiniti logo.

I have a 2011 convertible g37s
Do you still have ur car. I have the same car
I am pretty sure when buying a flashy car you're not trying to pull elderly couples leaving the fitness center
just to make sure this is a japanese car right? because everyone keeps saying unlike the other german cars and that throws me off.
Infiniti is the luxury brand of Nissan (similar to Lexus to Toyota)
Ranger x Turbo
Yes nissan/infiniti is japan
The fact that people (or idiots) even mistake it for a German is saying something..those smooth lines and exterior are KILLER
What a fast car
Sorry, I don't get what your getting at, are you comparing it to the infinity?
I wonder how this IPL rides compared to a 370Z with the sport package? It's probably pretty similar? Just a guess though.
why didn't he address the fact that it's an IPL g37 with extra power and a harsher suspension? he's not driving a normal g37.
I'm thinking if i should buy this or an acura TL top of the line or the new avalon ?
19 gallons in city, 27 on highway... didn't You said it conversely :D?
I get like 10-12 MPG city Lmao but I didn't get it for gas mileage. If you get anymore more than that you seriously drive like a granny.
Yeahhhh, very thirsty car I spend a lot of money on gas 😂
What do you like with the 335is, been thinking about getting one but cant decide if the money is worth it or not.
ahahaha you guys always find a way to view evilness with a postive attitude. Keep up the good work!
The steering: "when you turn, it turns". No way, please tell me more!
As opposed to an Audi/Bentley/Bugatti (upscale VW), Acura (upscale Honda), Lexus (upscale Toyota), or Jag/Land Rover (upscale Tata [by your own logic])?
OK we get the "worst review" part but what does "evar" mean. Do you mean Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (EVAR)?
hes right it is too expensive, they should have thrown in a couple turbo chargers for 55 grand
2:14 shoulda taken traction control off
I have the ipl. Neck snapper
Same
Nice car. Not meant for practicality. I'd go completely impractical and go for a manual shifting model
Oh, and I liked the review....
Does anybody have their original floor mats that say IPL G37 on them that they're willing to sell? I'm looking for the IPL ones not the ones with the Infiniti logo.
If you want a better review of the ipl, I got one on my channel 👌🏻
Wonder if this guy even knows he is driving the IPL ?!
buy it? rent it? forget about it?
the '17 model is such a disappointment. Big step backward from this model
pontiacGXPfan said nobody ever
That's the look of "what a douchebag!". Most people hate German luxury car drivers. I had a BMW that got keyed, spit on, etc.
335is doesn't have 350hp, does it?
im sorry for cursing but have you ever drivin an infiniti G37 it drives almost as good as a BMW335 for 10k less
i need it... now...
Review sucks, car is beautiful
Which comparo?
Can this beat a Boss 302?
