I think you getting ahead of yourself calling yourself a cycling influencer. with 8k on here and 10K in instagram. Ive been riding with PAS Mallorca for a couple of years now and found the community better than any of the others and would class them all as good friends. Your where being so negative and judgmental before you had even been there. Its a free ride put on by the shop and by your own words given one of the best pre ride descriptions and told more than once to download the ride route and then you moan that you go dropped and lost. So I wouldn't think that's a problem with them at all. If you're in Spain and your reason for some of them not being social its your fault because you don't speak Spanish. I think the Monday or Saturday rides would be better for you. I think you needed to change the video title to "Im not as fit as I think I am and I don't like getting dropped by PAS"
That’s exactly what I said, I understand I’m the outsider by not speaking Spanish. I made sure I said thank you to everyone exactly because they are putting on a ride and I know that takes time and dedication. I met a guy called Ruben at a ride last year and he genuinely was so nice and welcoming. We don’t remember the watts we remember the people and the experience. It’s all I’m saying. Like I said no one owes me anything, but the PAS crew passed me on a climb the next day, not one of them turned and said hi… all good crack on, I was fooked and could only manage a ‘hey’ as I do when I pass most riders. Community means different things to different people but if no one even asked how I found the ride hinges on me not speaking Spanish then perhaps that reflects the sense of community which is at the heart of this observation. I welcome discussions on all of this…
I also don’t mind being dropped by anyone and you might notice that wasn’t what I had a commentary on, I was just sharing when/how and how strong this group of riders are.
Stop crying 😂 he’s right, state the wright info and stick to it, if it’s is a tempo ride just say what is the tempo of the ride and also state what the watts are and be clear on the socials.
Perfectly fair play. Nothing wrong with anything that happened here. Guys are just strong, they know it and they ride that way. If they said it's a normal group ride or even a ride to get to know each other and than smash it like this and start dropping ppl, than it would be bad. This way, with the briefing, with giving all the information about how it will play out, it's perfectly fair play. 50km/h is a wicked speed and it's almost a sprint speed for vast majority of people. Strong guys.
I really don't see the problem. They open up the ride for anyone, they call it a drop ride, and then smash it. It does what it says on the tin. If you don't like getting dropped, then guess what....
lol I’m kidding I don’t mind being dropped, I know where my ability is. I share it all the time. Creating videos that allow people to see how strong these groups are allows them to decide if they have the ability to join in, and that the value in sharing how fast these rides are.
Not sure how you come to the conclusion that they arent friendly or caring, Max. They didnt do anything wrong in my opinion. You just wasnt as quick as them. However, correct me i am wrong but didnt you drop the man with the mechanical in your group of three. Surely caring and friendly would have stopped with him?.
I didn’t say they were unfriendly, I did say I like friendly groups, you might notice I try to always say hi to people, it features in my videos a lot. Not one person in that group said hi first and no one asked anything when we got back. Thats cool, nothing wrong with that, it’s their ride, their group, I’m a big boy I don’t need hand holding but as I said I like hard rides and I also like friendly. It’s besides the point, this ride was too fast for me for sure- lol the only interaction from one of the pass guys was shouting to close a gap after the rider in front of me jumped out the saddle to kick. Again, not my first chainy, cool I get it. They didn’t do anything wrong, they turned up, rode hard, laughed with their mates, went home. It’s all in the vid 🫶🏻 Best briefing I’ve ever been to and if you want a smash, do pop along and I can recommend the flat white
Perhaps the first comment you have here, from someone that actually lives here (Mallorca) and knows this rides, and riders. The guy doing the presentation is known for going always "full send" and some of the other dudes race cat1 locally, so you can expect high pace, this reputation is not only on their group rides, there are plenty across the island that do this chain gangs that take no prisoners. So it's no unusual or specific to Pas. What i can confirm is the snobbish vibe , from the brand and the 'Cult' followers, And the moment you arrive with a camera and in other brand... You are someone to be dropped, faaast hahaha😅 Plenty of other group rides in the island, go and check Rapha club house and in the same square ask also in th TanLine shop for their rides, also fast , but friendly. In the end if you want to ride with shop clients and/or future buyer's, it's not a good tactic to drop them and ask them to come over later, so the pack leader can acknowledge how strong he is and how slow you are. Hahaha Ride on! And dont buy PAS (except if you really want the big P€Nis symbols) qjjaja Plenty of other brands that are better and better priced.
Assos is good for base layers, jerseys, even socks. The bibs are not my favouries, but they are the most individual part. I am comfortable w Castelli (except that they don't last very long) and Gobik. I don't understand how you can build a ride group around a brand. And an expensive one, too. Pas, Rapha, Ryzen are imho all simply totally overpriced. Who cares what you wear as long as you have fun.
P N S? Just fill in the blanks! Joking aside, fast guys need somewhere to go as well. Problem is when you combine that with expensive gear that has an in-your-face logo you are going to position yourself in the market in a place where Rapha were a few years ago. Aspirational sells until it doesn't.
Great video👌🏻 Big takeaway was that you’ve ridden twice with those boys and got dropped twice… so you don’t like them and they are not friendly 👀🤦♂️🤣🤣. Does that say more about you or them 🤔👍
Good, informative video, can't believe you went to a fast group ride but didn't take the time to download the route. I think cycling has room for everyone. It seemed to me they were friendly to you you just weren't strong enough to hang but there'll be a big friendly group ride where you can, they just prefer to ride faster. Room for all
Yeah for sure, plan was always to find my own way back or ride with the group, i dont mind being dropped. Much like the girl or some of the others if i was dropped early id happily just head home. Its a good strong fast group.
So, their Tempo ride is their training session on Wednesdays, I bet they have the "club/community rides on the weekend or evening rides which are no drop. As you said it's exactly what it says on the tin. Posted on Strava with a map for uploading to your GPs. You went with a preconceived opinion and made it fit. I've lived, ridden and raced in the UK and Canada and when people say a club or store is not community minded or inclusive it's because they chose the wrong ride and they got dropped. I generally like your videos but this didn't do your 'brand image" any favours.
I m a Pas fan when it comes to their designs but i think i m to slow for their rides 🫣🫣 So we can always ride together and have a nice Le Col and Pas convo along the way while having chill 🍰 and ☕.
I think it’s ok, you know what you get when you take part in 😂 It’s free! They like it this way. Doesn’t mean they are unfriendly - they want to ride, fast!
Just watched this and read some of the comments...some appear fair (positive and negative), and others seem pretty harsh and borderline insulting about you personally. Personally I like someone like yourself who is willing to get out there and cycle with different groups in different locations, (from London to Maidenhead to Majorca) and on different types of rides (from racing to chilled rides to chain gangs). For cyclists like me who ride solo for enjoyment, fitness and the odd sportive, and who wouldn't be confident enough to join a cycle club or group ride, this sort of content is fabulous. People like me get an insight into what sort of events, groups, and experiences are out there in the cycling world. You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs and you can't make a video without upsetting someone, (although there's seldom a need for viewers to make personal 'attacks'). Different people have different opinions and different viewers want different videos - personally, I really enjoy your content so thank you for that :)
@zebeddy Thank you man, appreciate you taking the time to say. I do think its easy for people to over look the anxiety that comes from being someone who isnt very string joining different cycle groups. I dont mind the replies to this video too much but it does perhaps suggest some irony to the whole conversation.
A couple of points: although they are a Danish company, Pas Normale is a French expression meaning Not Normal. You pronounced Normale correctly but not Pas. It’s pronounced pa, the s is silent. As for the ride, fast guys get to ride too. Just because you can’t keep up doesn’t make it a bad group ride. They tried to warn you and even their reputation was warning you but you weren’t listening because you thought you were fast. Majorca is the mecca of cycling. The level there is so much higher than where most people live. It’s Pas Normale. 😉
Love this. Thanks Steve, Mallorca has been a blast and the level out here ranges from all the watts right down to beach cruisers. lol trust me, I don’t think I’m fast, never have. You won’t catch me claiming to be ‘that guy’. I have a million videos getting dropped, out on the internet. For everyone to see. I actually think it’s becoming my thing
I agree with you Max . You regularly put yourself in a video where you are the new boy, out of your comfort zone or just giving it a go , only to get your ass handed to you on a plate but you keep showing up for new group rides , the TH-cam guy with a camera . Fair play for trying . So yes , max knows he’s not the fastest but is still out there smashing it and making great content . Keep it coming Max . I enjoyed this video, I’m in my late 40s but still trying to smash it . Don’t let the haters hate . Keep doing your thing 👍🏻
@@Gixer750pilot Thank you, appreciate it. My key take away i guess is that sometimes its easy to forget that less experienced riders can be more anxious about these things
welcoming shop, excellent briefing, drop ride mentioned, smashed it, All good. a host need to open the door, and a visitor need to say hello first, isn't it? Nothing wrong in this video. Put aside the negative narrative toward a community and just enjoy the vibe. It's a drop-ride, everyone is joining to taste the heat, aren't you?
PAS is great and typically their group rides are very clearly marked as a coffee conversational pace or a faster paced drop/training ride. Big fan, and have had great experiences with groups/employees of the brand.
Nice man, always good to hear, I’m sure there are plenty of people who share the same experience with you. 👍🏻👍🏻 Their training rides are too fast for me 💨
I work at the Pas Normal Studios Flagship store in Copenhagen where the community is full of like-minded beautiful people and not only white middle-aged dudes with SL8's, Dogmas, etc. We are very clear in the descriptions of the rides on Starva to ensure the safety of the riders joining. Our Women's Ride as an example is a beautiful nondrop ride space for international people to meet new friends. I also got dropped on the first rides I went on with PAS but it pushed me to get stronger, and I am so happy that I now work in a place that is queer-friendly, international, and doesn't look down upon people wearing different brands or ride cheap bikes. I suggest people swing by and talk to us before you come up with crazy statements about the people behind or the garments we make.
@eliasgozal9072 I love that for you. What you have done here is share your experience of PAS in the same way i have shared mine. No one said hi before the ride outside, no one spoke on the ride while leaving town and no one spoke to me after the ride. Im sure you have an amazing community, im sure the PAS guys in Mallorca are great people, my observation is that they were not particularly welcoming to me- please note that i didnt call them PAS ankors, this is something that has been mentioned ot me... A LOT. All i got was shouted at while in a pace line and then ignored back in the store. Please dont try to invalidate my experience. The listing for the ride also DID NOT make it clear it was a drop ride, i had to ride 30 mins to go to the store to find that out. Not that i care, i ride regularly with drop rides, however a 70km drop ride is a bit different. Please feel free to email me and id love to chat through this with PAS as a business- and especially share the number of messages i recieved with people sharing their experiences calling this particular community obnoxious.
Hey! Big thanks for the video - I was supposed to travel to Mallorca for a cycling trip but had a horrible crash - remco style - and shattered my femur bone. It’s so nice to see how it all would look like!
Looks like it is performanced based, and that becomes exclusive. Is what it is. Always anxiety when riding with a new group. Biggest issue for me is trying new groups/clubs and finding a big difference in how things are done. Often found myself 'sweeping' in new groups even in no drop rides where newbs are supposedly wecome. Best sweeper I ever rode with was a Pro... he had nothing to prove in the bunch and really took care of the back of it. Wannabee syndrome can make fun not fun sometimes.
There were a few guys doing this and I believe the girl, I didn’t get a chance to see when they either turned off or were dropped by the group as was concentrating on the ride. I would have loved to have surfed for a bit but when the group passed they passed at speed and it was too much for me 🙋🏼♂️
@@thewattlife yep, it looked quick by any standard. The pace line was whizzing past. It had gaps in it too, so you were having to catch a wheel that was trying to close the gap in front etc... double effort.
Yes- it had just come off a round about and with a few gaps and strong riders closing them and me just coming off the front i didn’t have it to try find the last wheel
Ok, made to the end of the video. 16:26 "I'm not a PAS guy" then "I like fast groups". I think this one was _a bit too fast_ and perhaps hurt the ego 😂
Well done for hanging on those first 4kms at 50 kph! I think I'd be joining the young lady at the first roundabout 😂. Certainly not a kind of ride I'd get involved in when visiting Mallorca. Great filming though. 👍
great video - you got your arse served up on a plate, and lived to fight another day. I'm sure your body language would have been different at the shop post ride but you sucked it up - shook hands with all the guys and didn't disgrace yourself. How good is cycling in that sense,. Click bait material aside I enjoyed this - thanks
I think Pas Normal are cycling's first proper hypebeast brand and they'll probably go pop pretty soon, just how Supreme did a few years back. Their kit is well made but the ubiquity and cultishness around the brand is starting to wear a bit thin. Really can't see how they can become any more popular while retaining the aura they have right now. Will be interested to see how the market moves, if they adapt and go in another direction, or if an imaginative competitor swoops in and steals their crown.
Wenn to the store last tuesday and bought a pair of socks and 2 t-Shirts. I like the more basic products of the Brand. The „gravel“ line escapism is perfectly fine in branding / logo placement. No big PNS in the back or on the legs. I Like the no club colours and the mix/match versatility of the Brand. I ride for fun and for style. Thats what a habby should be 😊❤
I think they got me on the PowerPoint presentation in the briefing 🙂Exactly this type of preps I'd expect from highly motivated & over ambitious MAMILs 😂😂
Oh boy I bet the comments on this one are spicy! You know, I generally agree with what you say but I think they were totally honest and up front, it’s a training ride, it’s a drop ride - gave you a decent briefing… I think it’s fair play tbh. Rapid boys 🔥
Absolutely. This ride was fast and hard, they made that clear and you absolutely don’t have to turn up if you don’t want to. It’s too fast for me, but some people will see it and it will be right up their street. ✌🏻
It made me smile when you restarted with the two other guys that got dropped and said this is where I wanna be of the back with guys wearing Rapha or anything other than PAS. 10:29 The guy you were drafting behind was decked out in PNS mechanism bibs and jersey! LOL.
@@julianallen515 Ha oops yeah that was my bad, and i didnt mean it to come of bad, i was chasing on hard for about 4-5 mins as they had a lead going into the corner.
I think I understand what you're getting at. I think there are groups that are seen as 'elitist' all over the world.. I think a fix for this would be to have more than one ride captain and split into to groups to accommodate riders of different abilities. I'm all for fast drop rides as long as its known by all to be a drop ride. I love joining faster rides myself, knowing I'll get dropped and using it as motivation to get stronger and keep up for longer and longer until I manage to complete a ride with them. However, I do see your point. I do find a correlation between people wearing certain kit brands or riding certain bike brands and their friendliness or hostility. I myself ride a very entry level Domane Al 2 with 8 speed claris but am keeping up with and dropping people on muuuccchhh more expensive bikes and wearing all the latest kit. Maybe it's in my head but I do experience a bit of hostility from time to time. When I say hostility, people cutting across my front wheel, being bullied off wheels, etc. At the end of the day we're all cycling enthusiast and should encourage participation. You mentioned an invite only ride.. Perhaps this ride should be invite only and a secind ride organised along side for new comers or visitors etc
Definitely no chit chat on the semana masters. I wouldn't join semana master coz it aint blogger friendly. But if you want to do that maybe do more PAS training rides.
I'm not a PAS fan, kit is overpriced and looks pap in my opinion. Maybe it's less about the kit they had on and more about they were quicker than you? Put the camera down and train harder. Drop ride is a drop ride, you were told at the beginning.
@Philatlondon1 Yup, i always eat breakfast, i dont think it was a fuelling thing, im just not fast enough to hold the group for those kicks. The ride was 70km with PAS and 10km there and back... so 90km+ all in, going back to a buffet is exactly what i needed
Great video.👍 You hit the nail on the head, if nothing else, you've made it clear that these rides are not for everyone. To be fair to them, they are honest about this being a tough training session. Maybe some would call it a 'wannabe' club championship in testosterone. LOL😂😂😂😂
I knew it would be tough, this one got spicy, but it does mean i probably couldnt turn up to a training ride on a wednesday morning unless i was happy to only do 1/2 a ride
Dude.. the guys in that store are like a second family! I was lucky enough to get invited on the loop because I go to the store and I ride with them! For a special event like that they aren't gonna just invite random people. Every singe one of them in that store couldn't be and nicer, they have a passion for cycling and they want to take it seriously and keep there rides professional. You know what the ride consists of so either keep quite and get on with it or turn up to a Saturday ride which maybe more your kind of thing!
Of course man, they guys I spoke to before with a coffee were obviously great. Like I said, I don’t speak Spanish so it limits my interactions. No one when we got back asked how it was, which is fine, I’m a man but I’m sharing that experience. I came back, had a coffee, asked the dude behind the counter a few questions, said thank you to the same guy and the ride leader as you see, and made my merry way home. It’s easy to forget how intimidating it can be for people to step into these environments- I’m not talking about chatting on the ride, that’s cool, I said hi to a few guys who clearly didn’t speak English and that’s on me. My point is that brands create spaces with the intention of growing their business I’m just stepping into and sharing this and conversations I’ve had with people. I honestly don’t mind, I’ll turn up to any ride and get dropped but it’s the people and interactions that make a community space valuable not just the fact it’s a hosted ride. Perhaps I’m just on the outside, I’ve said in a few other comments, Ruben’s was the nicest guy ever and a super strong rider, but I remember him because he was nice more than because he could do 1,000,000 watts
@@thewattlife The ego thing is why I cycle on my own. Nobody to fall out with, no point-proving, no stupid games. Those guys need the group. Stronger guys like me can cycle alone for the majority of the time. And I mean stronger both mentally and physically.
I do love my local chain gang- even after going a dozen or so times this summer it’s still quite intimidating though. A long solo ride can be fun but rolling turns is also a lot of fun
Fan of your videos. BUT last 2 vids have both had negative click bate titles. Rapha one indicating they cancelled on you personally and this one making an issue from the start. What’s that about?
levers outwords over2 cm, blocks hips montion forward , waide handle bars blocks hips , cleat forward blocks hips . 1mm . shim under cleat outside stabilize knee tracking 12 clock to 6 oclock , short pedal axels stabilaze knees . increase hip motion forward 165 cm -170 cm. cranck , 2 cm. forward flat saddle 142mm. -150 mm. waide , 5 mm short saddle front down , 36-38 cm. bars.
Yeah man I’m sure and im not saying anyone was rude. If you know Ruben, he made a real lasting impression just by being friendly and chatting to people and not to mention he was a super strong rider. The effort he made had that lasting impression and he was there on behalf of the brand- he was also a mad strong rider. A PAS group passed me on a climb as I was on my way round the island, not one said hi, that’s cool, they ride hard, they are busy perhaps pushing but that is my experience. These boys ride hard but you can ride hard and be more Ruben’s. 🫶🏻
Nice filming. I have to say though, it's a tempo, drop ride and you got dropped. Just hit the save button on Strava to download the route. The PAS guys are super friendly, and this is a great ride to build strength and learn to ride a pace line. However I would recommend riding a lot more rides like this before attempting the masters. Masters averaged 10kph more than the pas rides do (from somebody who rides with pas every week and masters week)
@pauljordan6346 Yeah its a tempo ride but its too fast for me so it was more of a threshold effort which i couldnt hold for 50km. I know on Garmin you can hit save and it will push through to your head unit on other devices you have to use a laptop or a web browser. Im sure they are super friendly, they were having a laugh with each other for sure. The masters would be a huge ask for me but as an experience its something id like to find out more about
Another great vid as always🤘 Sometimes getting *dropped* means getting *stronger*.. Tho need to find the group that’s a touch stronger than you - not 5 levels above, no real benefit there, and you just get annoyed, can’t even recover surf on their wheels.. BTW to “pull maps off Strava” (love it when you invent cycling phrases 😀👍) you simply like the route you fancy by clicking the star button⭐️ on Strava, then sync with your device - simples…
Haha ive figured it out now- you have to use a computer or be in webexplorer on your mobile because you cant do it directly from the app... Im ready for all and any strava ride now
Isn't it like this in any group you find yourself in when there's a huge wattage mismatch? I've been on tempo/drop rides with great friends who smash huge watts and I don't think there's any lack of caring or friendliness on their part when I struggle to pull in the front or forfeit and do my own ride back home. When I accept an invitation to a ride, I don't expect others to do my ride, I try to do the ride I'm joining.
Trust me I understand the vibe of fast groups- but I also know this is a brand event, not a club/team. The fact that no one really said hi while riding slowly out of town was… well, very old school club mentality.
@@thewattlife I know that type, not associated with a brand tho. Just wealthy blokes on posh bikes who used to be local racers back in the day and maybe have some unrealised ambitions. No friendliness, just a d*ck measuring contest.
One punchy small burgh and other than that its dead flat. A few other riders joined in and out the pace line along the way. No one called 'Last' other than me (which is cool im just letting people know the vibe).
You need to work on your chaingang technique. Start sliding across at the front when you're about half way past, not when you're past them. And do the same at the back to get on the wheel.
I don´t get this whole thing of joining a brand for a ride? Why? It´s advertizing. It´s marketing. I was multiple times in Mallorca, meeting great people in the hotel, at the coffee stop or simply at the streets, joining them for rides together with same interests, same speed, etc. Mallorca is full of great cyclists at every corner. Why the need to go to a brand for their marketing stuff? There is simply no need for this in my opinion.
And by the way: In my opinion there kit is over-hyped. I own one from exactly this store in Mallorca. The jersey alone was 140 EUR. It´s too short and it soaks up my sweat. It´s wet after a climb. Never expperienced this in other jerseys. The zippers are not as flat and tight was at other brands. They are okay, don´t get me wrong. They are tight and aero, but not top class like their price point.
It's like Rapha. Same thing. So what get out on a ride and ride your damn bike. Sounds like a group of pretentious crew. If your not cool your not coming in.
@thewattlife Interesting vid and insights. One point from #pedantscorner tho.....Pas Normal should be pronounced "PAH" NOT "PAZ". The S is silent as it is a direct translation from the French phrase 'not normal' 😉.
I think this is common knowledge, given that 'pas' is one of the most common French words (je ne sais pas, etc.) However, if people want to refer to them simply as 'PAS' then it makes sense to say it with the S, because just 'PA' sounds kinda stupid.
@@thewattlife yes totally, I had this same and putting the camera out a bit more plus making sure the camera and bars misalign helps make the bars look a bit more "natural" and less thin. awesome videos!
Don’t think you can blame them really, it’s advertised as a drop ride after all, so there’s never gonna be much chit chat on a ride like that. They’re there to train not to talk about how everyone’s kids are doing. As for PAS as a brand, I think their stuff is bland, boring overpriced sh1t for, worn by people with no imagination.
Should they just state what the tempo is on socials, just say in watts what the tempo is, but I don’t think they want to do that has most riders would not join ride or stop by the shop to have a coffee or buy PAS clothing 😂
Sounds like it was a drop ride and you got dropped 🤷♂️ I don’t think they lack community their community is the full gas crowd that’s not for everybody and that’s ok too.
Pas Normal is nicely designed but are simply very over-priced, even worse they are emblazoned with quite shouty logos. Why is it tgat there is never just one rider in a group with Pas gear, they all have Pas gear down to matching socks - looks and feels like a cult or at best a clique to me. I'm not a fan and will never buy their product.
When I buy things I want minimum ad or none, especially when I spend quite a bit of money, and that’s for the quality (fit, fabric), definitely not for big logo. That’s only for tacky nouveau riche. You don’t buy some Caraceni suit with Loro Piana fabric and put huge brand on the outside hoping everyone knows you can spend. That’s definitely a ‘guido’ thing.
Even though i do agree PNS riders on the whole can look a bit elitist I didn't really see any of this here, quite the contrary. You went in with such negative feelings and tried hard to validate your claims from the beginning of the video but then everyone you talked to seemed very nice, they did a great intro and told everyone what to expect beforehand. Then after you get dropped you go on about how you'd rather be with the other folks left behind (one of wich was actually also wearing PAS) and how PAS is unwelcoming, yet go back to their cafe to sit there with everyone and again everyone seems quite nice. It looks like you had some notion going in how this would be and tried to validate it but imo that didn't work and just leaves you looking like a bit of a fusspot.
@speedsociety9177 Lol my goal is never to make people or individuals look like they are not nice people. So, seeing as you seem like you might entertain a conversation. I always turn up early, not many people engaged in a hello or a hi when we were outside the store before setting off. )Yes i know i carry a camera and thats not everyones vibe). No one said hi on the slow easy 15-18 min ride out of town stopping at lights. Yes, i said hello to a few people. At the end of the ride after coming back in, no ride leader asked how it was. This is cool, im an adult i dont need people to look after me BUT dont then complain when this is the story i share. As other comments, i believe the language barrier plays a role but also please note- i was the one approaching people to say thank you. I could have got my bike and walked out and no onw would have cared. Which is fine. But my feeling was, "im not part of this group and im being treated in that way'. ie: if i was part of the group, they would have said hi, engaged at traffic lights and said bye. Chris Miller has missed the point but i appreciate the conversation.
@@thewattlife you are getting overly defensive which is not necessary imo. You made a point, from what I saw in the video I didn't look like it to me, that's all. What you described I have also experienced on most grouprides in my hometown of Berlin btw and also the Rapha guys were quite unwelcoming to everyone who wasn't a club member but a friend of mine living on Mallorca has the complete opposite experience with the Rapha grouprides on the island. So i would say it really depends on the group and location and we can't really paint everyone wearing a specific brand with the same brush anyway. When I go to a dropride which is communicated as that and essentially a training ride, I just hang on as long as I can and in the worst case go home alone, all good, I don't really go there to meet people anyway, there are other grouprides which are much more social (but also slow). Depends on what you want I guess. Don't get me wrong, I liked the video, also like your kit a lot and will come back for other videos too, just don't agree with your point based on whats visible in the video.
This video started because i know quite a few people who joke about this brand having a quite unfriendly nature. So when i told people i was going people would speak negatively about them. I also shared my 1st experience when they hosted a ride the day before the 312 event and left a load of people behind on the ride and waited at the top of a climb most of the way back. Thats no big deal, but its also no big deal to ride as a group and make people feel welcome. I didnt call these guys Pas anchors, i was repeating what has been said to me multiple times. This ride was registered as a training ride- no mention of drop or no drop. I was only told that a 70km ride was going to be a drop ride in the briefing- that i had to cycle 30 mins to get to. Im a small channel and just a guy who likes riding his bike much like other people- if you ride 30 mins to meet a brand for a ride and get dropped in the first 20 or a 2 hrs ride, which is what happened to the girl then i guess its a bit off putting. Im many ways its nice that other people who might think about joining the training ride on a Wednesday while on holiday can now have a bit of a better understanding. Sorry for being overly defensive
I see overpriced but nice kit. I see similar types of people and no women. I see a group that’s trying to be and kind of saying, ‘we’re exclusive.’ What ever floats your boat is key. Like you said Pas is not for you and some feel the same about RCC or groups that ride overpriced western brand bikes. Just gotta find what you like and nevermind the rest. None of us are the next Pogacar 😂😂
It's like Rapha. Same thing. So what get out on a ride and ride your damn bike. Sounds like a group of pretentious crew. If your not cool your not coming in.
Disregard the haters on this one, it's common knowledge that there's elitism in the cycling community. MUCH AGREED that if you're opening ANY type of activity open to the community there must be a level of care with who your attendees are as well as a welcoming atmosphere. So otherwise this just becomes masturbatory...
PAS is the new Rapha...over priced, overhyped and has a cult like following of people who think they are better than everyone else. Much better brands with less pretentious nature.
I think you needed to change the video title to
"Im not as fit as I think I am and I don't like getting dropped by PAS"
blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh
@thewattlife, you certainly influenced me to start cycling again, so I call that an influencer you definitely are. Great content as usual.
None of those guys can sustain 50 km/h on their own. It’s everyone’s sprint speed.
I really don't see the problem. They open up the ride for anyone, they call it a drop ride, and then smash it. It does what it says on the tin. If you don't like getting dropped, then guess what....
…what?
lol I’m kidding I don’t mind being dropped, I know where my ability is.
It’s all in the vid 🫶🏻
Best briefing I’ve ever been to and if you want a smash, do pop along and I can recommend the flat white
Oh and we did stop for the mechanical ✌🏻
Perhaps the first comment you have here, from someone that actually lives here (Mallorca) and knows this rides, and riders.
The guy doing the presentation is known for going always "full send" and some of the other dudes race cat1 locally, so you can expect high pace, this reputation is not only on their group rides, there are plenty across the island that do this chain gangs that take no prisoners. So it's no unusual or specific to Pas.
What i can confirm is the snobbish vibe , from the brand and the 'Cult' followers,
And the moment you arrive with a camera and in other brand...
You are someone to be dropped, faaast hahaha😅
Plenty of other group rides in the island, go and check Rapha club house and in the same square ask also in th TanLine shop for their rides, also fast , but friendly.
In the end if you want to ride with shop clients and/or future buyer's, it's not a good tactic to drop them and ask them to come over later, so the pack leader can acknowledge how strong he is and how slow you are.
Hahaha
Ride on!
And dont buy PAS (except if you really want the big P€Nis symbols) qjjaja
Plenty of other brands that are better and better priced.
Any alt brands to recommend? In Asia PNS, MAAP, Rapha are the go-to at similar price points.
@@wildbizzar castelli
@@wildbizzarAssos. Everything else is just ANother brand. 😂
Soomon is an Asian brand that makes some nice clean jerseys as well as some more bold stuff. Comfy fit
P N S? Just fill in the blanks! Joking aside, fast guys need somewhere to go as well. Problem is when you combine that with expensive gear that has an in-your-face logo you are going to position yourself in the market in a place where Rapha were a few years ago. Aspirational sells until it doesn't.
Basically this
Great video👌🏻 Big takeaway was that you’ve ridden twice with those boys and got dropped twice… so you don’t like them and they are not friendly 👀🤦♂️🤣🤣. Does that say more about you or them 🤔👍
Ha Nick, when you put it like that huh 👀
It says more about THEM. "Community Ride" means community; not much commununity when the leaders are in a two-man break, wouldn't you say?
@@MartonMerritt This perfect describes the social ride before the 312
Good, informative video, can't believe you went to a fast group ride but didn't take the time to download the route. I think cycling has room for everyone. It seemed to me they were friendly to you you just weren't strong enough to hang but there'll be a big friendly group ride where you can, they just prefer to ride faster. Room for all
This dude needs to up his game with downloading and preparing routes.
I m a Pas fan when it comes to their designs but i think i m to slow for their rides 🫣🫣
So we can always ride together and have a nice Le Col and Pas convo along the way while having chill 🍰 and ☕.
No cake and coffee stop, no ride!
My hand would have been up in the briefing asking where the coffee stop was! 😮
I think it’s ok, you know what you get when you take part in 😂 It’s free! They like it this way. Doesn’t mean they are unfriendly - they want to ride, fast!
Oh they can definitely ride fast
Great comment to much of the cycling world is exclusive
Pas Normal* 😉
Chris Miller sent me here.
welcoming shop, excellent briefing, drop ride mentioned, smashed it, All good. a host need to open the door, and a visitor need to say hello first, isn't it?
Nothing wrong in this video. Put aside the negative narrative toward a community and just enjoy the vibe. It's a drop-ride, everyone is joining to taste the heat, aren't you?
Another great video Max. Shop looks amazing and that pre-ride briefing was next level! 50km/h too much for me though.
Shop and coffee are great and somewhere to pop into for sure if you’re on the island. (Closed on Sundays).
Nice video, think ‘cycle in paradise’ with the cyclingtattooist is more my vibe, but thanks for doing this so we don’t have to. 👍🏻
I want to go next year- would have come this summer but I was away that week
Hey!
Big thanks for the video - I was supposed to travel to Mallorca for a cycling trip but had a horrible crash - remco style - and shattered my femur bone. It’s so nice to see how it all would look like!
Sorry to hear about the crash- well I have a bunch more vids that I hope you’ll enjoy as I did as much of the island as my legs would allow
Wannabee syndrome can make fun not fun sometimes.
blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh
I think this one was _a bit too fast_ and perhaps hurt the ego 😂
ha my guy if you think thats the case then please do check out literally every other video on the channel. There is no ego here
@@thewattlife Provocative comment to bump reactions😉😉
Thanks for this…my husband has now christened me “big girl, little watts” 😂
I think that’s what a few ppl in the comments also call me
I’ll get us some t-shirts made
I'm not a PAS fan, kit is overpriced and looks pap in my opinion. Maybe it's less about the kit they had on and more about they were quicker than you? Put the camera down and train harder. Drop ride is a drop ride, you were told at the beginning.
way to many big egos in cycling, great video anyway max
The best rider on the road is always, always, the one who is enjoying himself/herself the most.
Agreed
Did you fuel properly if you're going back to the hotel for breakfast?
Blahhh blahhh blahhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahh blahhhhh blahhhh blahhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh blahhhhh
As a Rapha wkr I am pleased to see others taking the heat 😊
Hahaha the evolution of the cycling world
You put in the description “training ride” their training ride which means hang-on or get dropped - simple 😜
Here for this
I’m going to put this out there. I would want to wear the brand / ride the brand who was running the ride. I’d feel a bit rude otherwise.
Absolutely. If I had an PAS kit I would have worn it.
I’d really hate to think that people turning up not in brand kit would change anything though 🫶🏻
Fan of your videos. BUT last 2 vids have both had negative click bate titles. Rapha one indicating they cancelled on you personally and this one making an issue from the start. What’s that about?

The masters would be a huge ask for me but as an experience its something id like to find out more about
Ciclos Major based in Alcudia do group rides at various speeds and you can pay a day rate for each ride
I was at max heart rate just watching that. PAS Abnormal!

Exactly those. The blue seem to go with everything
@@thewattlifeearphones are illegal in Spain, even bone conductive etc.
Awesome! How do they deal with changes in day light?
Another great vid as always🤘 Sometimes getting *dropped* means getting *stronger*.. Tho need to find the group that’s a touch stronger than you - not 5 levels above, no real benefit there, and you just get annoyed, can’t even recover surf on their wheels..
BTW to “pull maps off Strava” (love it when you invent cycling phrases 😀👍) you simply like the route you fancy by clicking the star button⭐️ on Strava, then sync with your device - simples…
I love how Max can build a bike up from scratch but can't do that (I can't do either).
Wow … so much angst about what brand of jersey people are wearing … 🤷
Good video Max.
Respect for this video, and the honest appraisal.
I cannot relate to that ‘PAS’ culture whatsoever, as you described it.
Each to their own I guess! 😉
What do they average for the 70k also is it fairly flat ?
One punchy small burgh and other than that its dead flat. A few other riders joined in and out the pace line along the way. No one called 'Last' other than me (which is cool im just letting people know the vibe).
Chain gang is not community. Its a tear up.
Not for freds
lol
You need to work on your chaingang technique. Start sliding across at the front when you're about half way past, not when you're past them. And do the same at the back to get on the wheel.
Kudos to you sitting drinking the coffee and calling them out at the same time. First time I’ve heard of this mob, must not be a cool cyclist lol
Notice none of them came over to sit with him as he drank his coffee. Says it all.
@@paddymurphy-oconnor8255 fair point never noticed that. Defo looks like a cult, but let them do there thing won’t ever affect me lol
@@denebrown4065 Yep. I’ll drink my coffee in my own time on my own.
This just adds to the eau d' ouché of paZ. I'm always going to call it PAZ because it's not a French brand. 😆
honestly wouldn't catch me alive in pas kit. I'm sure its great quality but nope
having said that, if you're doing something and annoying people, you're doing something right haha
I love my PAS kit.
I love the PAS kit
@@thewattlife I should start investing in some. Might even get more viewers to the channel 😄
ive got a PAS jersey. havent worn it yet tho lol
I like their kit. I dont think theyll let me buy it now though ;)
looks so weird when insta 360 turns the bars into a slit. by extending camera out more and problem solved
My bars are a slit, they are flat and not round but this does make it look very thin
No blame, being dropped is part of cycling and I’ve literally never complained about it.
It’s a fast ride and I respect that, too fast for me.
Nice review. I can't help feeling that it was a case of 'Let's show the TH-cam boy'...... #notveryinclusive
"Let's give him the best experience to blog about."
they all seem an unfreindly bunch. Thats how all cycling clubs used to be in the 70's :)
Should they just state what the tempo is on socials, just say in watts what the tempo is, but I don’t think they want to do that has most riders would not join ride or stop by the shop to have a coffee or buy PAS clothing 😂
I’m pretty sure it was a 1,000,000 watts for 2+ hrs but I can’t be certain 🤣🫠
How is that even a question 😅
They are basically the Rapha of a few years ago being the new 'elitist' and 'pretentious' brand
Don't pronounce the 's'
🫶🏽
it’s a training ride 🤷🏽♂️
Yeah man that’s what I said. 🫶🏻
Sounds like it was a drop ride and you got dropped 🤷♂️ I don’t think they lack community their community is the full gas crowd that’s not for everybody and that’s ok too.
Yup that’s cool. I don’t mind being dropped. Not advertised as a drop ride though
Just for those who might have misheard.. That's Cult with an "L".
👀
Pas Normal is nicely designed but are simply very over-priced, even worse they are emblazoned with quite shouty logos. Why is it tgat there is never just one rider in a group with Pas gear, they all have Pas gear down to matching socks - looks and feels like a cult or at best a clique to me. I'm not a fan and will never buy their product.
The sort of people who spend nearly £500 on their lycra want everyone to know they spent £500 on lycra
If you didn't know Amazon and AliExpress do the dupes.
Nobody forcing you to buy it mate. Same for people buying very expensive bikes.
@inakigoitia don't worry I'm not about to.
Great video but 110% to fast 💨 for 🤣🤣🙏🏿
1000% too fast
Thanks for this. This vid cements my view of the #paswankers. 😉
@@Mondy85 your reply to my comment has cemented my view even further. Thanks 👍🏽
The pas bibs I tried were terrible and their kits are boring and ugly
Haven’t tried the kit but I quite like the colours and clean nature of some of the jerseys
Clickbait'y and "sensational" recent titles lost you a subscriber, don't try to make cycling world - dumpster
Thanks man, pop by any time.
I see overpriced but nice kit. I see similar types of people and no women. I see a group that’s trying to be and kind of saying, ‘we’re exclusive.’
What ever floats your boat is key.
Save yourself the embarrassment from outdoors and maybe get back on Zwift videos. Alternatively maybe try another sport or running.
Thanks Jim.
Great kit, marketing and videos by Pas Normal however the riders literally have Penis or PNS written on them and too many of the riders act like one.
So much of cycling is elitist especially those who are wanna be pros so I agree with your assessment about PAS.
My 14 year old son commented on this video "Why is the PNS font so ugly, the colours boring and the people so unfriendly?"
PAS is the new Rapha...over priced, overhyped and has a cult like following of people who think they are better than everyone else. Much better brands with less pretentious nature.
Hilarious. These old farts with the aggressive positioning. ESP the one on the colnago 😊😅😅 he probably had multiple hip replacements already 😅😅😅😅
Dude, you have no idea, that guy, despite being in his early 60's is still one of the very fastest on the island.
