    Nice shots Joe, I really liked the night long exposures. Especially the one at 25:21.

      Thanks man! I'm really proud of that one! Probably one of my best night film photos ever.

    What a thorougly enjoyable video; to see the frightening side of nature thru film. Those night shots around the 13 minute mark are amazing; to be able to get that kinda detail. Props to you for doing that without a cable lol

      Thanks! Those were really fun images and were so hard to make in the snow with no cable. I still kinda can't believe my shivering didn't ruin them. :)

    Really enjoyed the film Joe. Personally I absolutely loved the Leica m6 photos. I usually shoot colour digitally and black and white on my m4 but I may try portra!! Super photos mate. Thanks for sharing

      Thanks so much man! It was a blast to see those. I'm probably happier with the Leica photos than the MF ones. Thanks for watching!

    I‘m not even half through this video but i can already say that the images are outstanding. Makes me want to shoot my M6 again even if the price of film does hurt. Color grading also looks absolutely perfect!

    Wow, this is by far the best photographic documentary/trip on TH-cam. The film images are stunning! Makes me want to take my 6x9 put and capture the world!

    The photos (film) and the images (digital) are all super! You done good! I'm glad to see color! Yes, RAX works BW but me love color.. You talk about Mamiya and shutter. That there horrible cold. What was temperatures? What I see is all the Canon R6 mirrorless... mm. I would have used more digital as one can see results Now! Sure film beautiful, organific and tradtional. So what. I think you were on a high and your results are some of the best seen of Iceland. Period. Bravo.

      @JTobiason  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It was a blast and I ended up using them all a fair amount. The Mamiya 6 was best when we just hopped out of the car because it was the most temperature sensitive. The Leica and Canon both did pretty well in the cold. Was a great trip!

    Great video. Would you say the leica stuff is just as good as the Mamiya photos?

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For this trip, yes. I think I'm still better in general with the Mamiya and my best 10 Mam6 photos are way better than my best 10 Leica photos. But that is also a lot because I've own my Leica for 2 years and my Mamiya for way longer. So there is just a lot of practice difference.

    Great images, what did you rate the 160 at?

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Probably around ISO 100. But I'm not too careful and just overexpose everything.

    That looked like a great trip, and I really enjoyed the video. A quick bit of feedback - personally I would’ve liked the photos to stay on screen for slightly longer. Some wonderful images though man, and your reflection on them at the end resonated with me. I think we all feel like that sometimes, especially when you have so many (self-imposed) expectations for a trip/location!

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and for your insight. Good to know about the photos. I did fast ones this time just because they were so many images (and it was already almost 30 min long).
      And thanks about the reflections. In a world social media is all about the bangers, it's hard but important to say that sometimes stuff doesn't live up. But, you have to take bad photos to take good photos. Cheers.

      Yea. I think I was using Epidemic when i made this video. Sorry. I don't have a list of them.

    Great work! You didn’t exactly make it easy for yourselves - visiting during the dark winter months with unpredictible weather and shooting color film. Your photographs are great and the town winter shots I like in particular - not the usual photography from here.

      Thanks so much. It definitely was a tough time to be making film photos. But, I'd also bore myself if I tried to go take the same photos I've seen a million times by other folks. It's a beautiful country, both in the wilds and in the cities and it just was a fun time to get a chance to use my own lens (yes, photographer pun) to make images.

    Just found your channel! Great video. Btw how do you develop your images?

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are chemicals you can buy and systems to do it yourself. I haven't made any vids on it, but a quick search and you'll find hundreds of other folks explaining. It's definitely a huge money saver.

    How did you do with your film in regards to airport scanners ?

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just kindly ask for a hand check on the film. Never had an issue in the US and most places abroad are easy too (Iceland was accommodating). That said, we as a film community are a little over-paranoid about scanners. As long as it's just once or twice and the airport doesn't have a CT-style scanner, it will be fine.

    By the way, there was not one photo in here that I didn't like. All your film looked great. We are our own worst critics usually.

      Thanks. We definitely are our own toughest critics, but hopefully we channel that to keep getting better.
