    Nice video! FWIW, I believe the newer, interchangeable lens Mamiya is branded and referred in writing to as "Mamiya 6", while the older bellows/folder is branded/referred to as "Mamiya Six."

      Thanks! As for the name, pre-war folders were Six and Post War folders are 6. If you look at the manual it does say New Mamiya 6. It’s all rather complicated! Thanks for watching 🍻

    Thank you for great video. I just got my Mamiya 6 and this video was pretty much everything I need to get started. I do have a question regarding the lens hood. I know the overall function of a lens hood, but how crucial is this one for the 75mm lens setting in general for reducing flare and improving image quality? Asking because I’ve almost never seen anyone go without it.

      @@WhateverYouSayIsRight The lens hood works well since the 75mm does tend to flare in high-contrast off axis light. Well worth the investment. Glad you found the video handy, and thanks for the kind word and for watching 🍻

    Big investment, but looks like a great, relatively lightweight medium format system

    • @AlexLuyckxPhoto
      @AlexLuyckxPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, it is a huge investment. And honestly, if I ever needed to cut down all my cameras to a single medium format and two 35mm systems, the New-6 would be the medium format of choice, and Nikon for auto and manual focus. Thanks for watching :)

      @@AlexLuyckxPhoto Investment yes, similar to todays digital cameras. However the quality from the mamiya lenses and the on board metering system puts digital in the shade. I have had marvellous results from my 6. You would have to spend a huge sum of money to equal the 6 x 6, 3600mp file in a digital camera.

    Beautiful camera. I wanna have a go at the vintage Six V or similar w/ 645 adaptable . What early versions offered that in an Automat features ?

    • @AlexLuyckxPhoto
      @AlexLuyckxPhoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would be a later post war model. Look for automat in the name usually! Thanks for watching 🍻

    Great review Alex! Borrowing cameras is very dangerous ha ha! I've been keen for a Mamiya for a while, I thought I'd prefer the 6x7 rather than the 6x6, but your shots maybe changed my mind.

      It is super dangerous! Also borrowed a Leica M4-P recently… yeah there is something about that 6x6! Thanks for watching 🍻

    I once owned a Mamiya 7 before it got *too* expensive ... but this 6 keeps tempting me. 10 shots for the 7 was a bit slow for me in what such a rapid form factor. That and not being able to focus very closely made it rough for me. But I love those Mamiya lenses and square photos ... 12 frames and the temptation of having basically a terribly compact and Hasselblad (in my head) ... I keep thinking of this one.

      Oh don’t worry I’m still thinking about getting one! The cost keeps my feet grounded. Thanks for watching 🍻

    What a neat camera, seems like one that could be an easy daily shooter.

    I’d be interested in knowing how you got to that chemistry. What was your goal? Images are wonderful.

      I got the chemistry from Freestyle Photographic, the goal was to review the developer in multiple film stocks and situations. Thanks for watching 🍻

    Have They started making the cameras again?

    • @AlexLuyckxPhoto
      @AlexLuyckxPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! This is called the ‘New 6’ because it was a reintroduction in the 1990s of the series in a new form factor. Thanks for watching 🍻

      Had the same question - as Leica for example started to produce the M6 again :) would be amazing to get a new Mamiya 6 or 7 😅

      @@AlexLuyckxPhoto I would buy them over everything. Sold my X2D Hasselblad because it is perfect but did not give me much magic in a sense… probably I am too lazy in post and like the idea of using film.

    Ja, it’s gone up again in used prices. I’m already invested into the Hasselblad 500c/m 80/2.8. It’s not as compact but I love it now. Feels comfortable in hand

    Nice video! I've always wanted to get a Mamiya 6 or 7. The closest thing I have to one is the Bronica RF645, which is a really fun camera to shoot.

    Nicely done Alex, love the video. This is a very intriguing camera set. I'm used to the 6x6 and 6x7 heavy duty gear made by, among others, Pentax and Kiev and this certainly seems like a low-weight alternative. One to think about...
