    The Virginia & Truckee Railroad has a very interesting history. We learn a bit about its history, both the original V&T and the current incarnation of it, which runs between Carson City Nevada and Virginia City.
    Lots of really great video shots of the trains working their daily runs from various places on the line are included, and even some "behind the scenes" information about operations.
    With special thanks to Hunter Lohse for helping film the scenes in this video and John Wiseley for being my High Desert Uber™.

    Climbing up one of the hills at 15:30, I can hear the steam engine chanting, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..."

    Not too much to be boring, just enough to be interesting!

    Love the shots of 29 exiting the tunnel

      That is one of the more interesting shots. You can hear it coming then boom! It always satisfies your foamania to see a steamer come out of a tunnel like that.

    Excellent information and shot composition. I comment you for all the hill-climbing you obviously had to do to get some this. LOL. Keep up the great work.

    Nicely done John. Having that gentleman drive you around to all those remote locations really paid off in the end. One thing of note for me was seeing how beautifully manicured the V&T right of way is. That shows how much pride the folks who run the railroad have in their work. Definitely gonna take the time to go over and ride the line this summer.

      J. Lewis Yes, John was an excellent guide. Without him, this program would have been about 5 minutes long with "amazing" shots at Eastgate, Gold Hill, and VC. The track was one of the first things I also noticed. Not only do they run an excellent and well maintained rail road, they are also great folks - and very welcoming. I hope I can go up there again.

      I assume by round table you actually mean a turntable. Turntables cost a lot of money. The Illinois Railway Museum recently acquired a turntable (ex D&RGW in Denver) from the Union Pacific for $10,000. Basically a bargain. That bought them the 110 foot bridge. It didn't include shipping from Denver to Illinois, which could be done entirely by rail (not an option on the V&T). That figure also doesn't include excavating the pit, lining it with concrete, installing the pivot and guide rail system, drainage plumbing, electrical conduit, control stand, a licensed contractor to supervise the work, labor costs, or insurance to guarantee the cost of the entire installation. And other costs in addition to those. A couple of wyes at each end of the line would cost far less than a turntable.

    Fantastic!!! Great cinematography. You caught the essence of a trip back in time. Appreciate the details of the engineering and explanations of the train’s functions throughout the trip. Great thanks. 🚂

      Thanks Jim. The goal was to provide information about the two histories and show the viewer what it's like now. It was a lot of work and a lot of time was spent before and after the trip to make sure the video turned out well.

    TSG Multimedia, could you please learn to pronounce the State of Nevada correctly? Hearing the way you pronounce Nevada is like having cheese graters be pushed down on my ears.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tyler, If they way I say it grates on your ears, you probably don't know the correct pronunciation. Hint 1: It is a Spanish word that means "snow-covered." Hint 2: Spanish does not have a short "A" sound. Hint 3: the Nevada State Tourism Board is not an authority on Spanish.
      I have evolved into using a sort of hybrid of the two since so many people mispronounce it thanks to the NV state tourism campaign to make the mispronunciation of the word more widespread.

    • @caelumvaldovinos5318
      @caelumvaldovinos5318 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tsgmultimedia, it really doesn't matter how the Spanish pronounce it. While I respect Spanish speakers, but I go with how the Nevada people and Nevada State Government pronounces the state. And, as a Nevada Resident, I find any mispronunciation insulting and honestly annoying to the point that I actually wish the joke legislation of criminal prosecution for mispronunciation actually passed.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@caelumvaldovinos5318 You may be surprised how many people in your state pronounce it the correct (Spanish) way. Just about everyone mispronounces "California." I'm guilty of that myself! :))

    • @caelumvaldovinos5318
      @caelumvaldovinos5318 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tsgmultimedia, I would actually be entertained if I heard someone who lived in or near Nevada pronounce Nev-AD-a, Nev-AH-da. You go anywhere in the state and pronounce the state the way you do, I've actually seen guns drawn over it. That's the problem with "Englishizing" certain words. In Spanish, there is supposed to be a certain amount of lisp that most native English speakers do not have and there are certain quirks in Spanish that fly over a LOT of people. I know for a fact that LA is another egregious example of American mispronunciation. The way Bugs Bunny says 'Los Angeles' is actually correct, despite it being played for laughs.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@caelumvaldovinos5318 Pretty much. I don't really care how people mispronounce stuff. There are too many far more important things to worry about. I hope you enjoyed the program despite your disagreement with the narration. Like I said, I've modified the way I say the word a little since then. It's a little closer to what you say but still not completely butchered.
