Creating a Forest landscape

- In this long format video, Teunis Jan Klein (owner of Deshima Bonsai, based in the Netherlands) shows how to create a Bonsai forest. He carefully prepared the Fagus crenata - Japanese beech trees for several years, sourced an amazing rock for the landscape, and prepared the slab to place the trees on.
In this lecture, he walks us through the entire process, from selecting trees and materials, to creating depth in the landscape and finally adding accent plants and moss.

One of the best forest creation videos I have seen. I love the rock feature. The wisteria is also beautiful.
Beautiful!! And that looked so fun! I hope you will give us an update when it is all leafed out.
I will!
Feels like watching a movie..... the excitement and surprises result slowly building up from start to finish a❤😊. I'd like to see the updates in the near future. Thanks for showing this forest/coastal style of bonsai.. you're definitely right it's like an artist doing his craft. 👍
Thanks! We'll post updates, promised :)
Natural looking slope as if it has always existed under the wind, sky, and rain. It's only going to get more settled as it grows!
Beautiful composition! Thank you for explaining it in so much detail!
Having attended several classes at Mr. Klein's bonsai garden, I can honestly say he is one of the best teachers there is. No ego, very supportive, open minded and armed with horticultural knowledge.
Cheers
Could not agree more! :)

Thank you! Cheers!

Very beautiful! But I think some of the trees are just too good looking to be part of a forest. I would have kept two or three for individual bonsai.😊
Hello, what trees are these?
Fagus crenata - Japanese beech
Maybe someone can help me I have a Chinese elm and the Leaves turning yellow but i do everythink correct
It could be 3 possible areas #1 under watering or #2 over watering, I had a similar problem with mine years ago I noticed #3 > (high heat of summer can stress out bonsai trees) resulting it's leaf's turning yellow I had to move mine to shaded area with less heat but still gets lots of sunlight, in my experience with bonsai trees the high heat from summer can really stress them out and I always water mine after the sun goes down to help it recover I hope it helps you.
@@jonbasiloni4112 thank you have a Nice day
@@jonbasiloni4112 Good suggestions. I always move struggling trees into a "morning sunshine only" zone. Ulmus will like that. They can endure a lot in full sun when healthy and thriving, but give them soft conditions when struggling. Avoid all additional stress by hot direct sun and/or wind so all leaves keep their strenght and next year it will go bonkers.
Best of luck
