I loved their performance..and it was undermarked... Come on judges it had real magic. The kiss at the end..... I think Vanessa got proper flustered by it.
His speed increased markedly this week. But he's still behind Nile on that. And he's still short on filling out a dance move. His lifts are pretty well done. Thank you Wren.
Every clip that isn't Olivia and Nile really highlights how this isn't really about the skating - which is fine. But to have scores for any of the non-skaters anywhere close to what he's achieving shows how they have to keep up the drama for the ratings.
She's right. He doesn't finish his moves. That's a dance criticism. But... this is ice dancing after all. But he's no longer chasing her. His speed is up. Thank you for sharing, Wren.
I really liked this until the kiss. It looked unplanned, Vanessa cut it off right away, and I was left with the impression that it was all Joey pushing things too far without actual consent. Regardless of what is or isn't happening behind the scenes the ending would have been better without that moment.
@l s Except that he definitely aimed at her mouth, not the nose, and she ducked out of the way in the last moment. I don't know what they had actually planned to do, if it was supposed to be an almost kiss, a kiss on the cheek/forehead/nose, or even a kiss on the lips. The end result just looks awkward, and because Vanessa is the one to so clearly cut the moment short, Joey appears to be at fault even if they had previously agreed on it.
Honestly I don’t think she minded as she was all smiles after… she was probably just surprised by it as they’ve not officially announced anything plus her mother flew in from Germany so she was in the audience watching!
@l s I’m sure it was a peck on the lips but I really doubt Joey would do something that he knows V would be totally uncomfortable with. She was probably just flustered plus her mum was in the audience 🙈 I thought it was cute! People need to stop reading too much into it.
The crowd booing Jayne Torvill, as if they know a tiny fraction of what she knows! Perhaps they think marks shouldn't get awarded for the quality of his ice dancing but rather he should get marks for the whiteness of his teeth and his 'laddish' behaviour?
Completely unrelated to their skating but still important: Am I the only one who worries that Vanessa may not fully reciprocate Joey's advances or at least may not be comfortable with his very public displays of it? It might just be how it's coming across on screen and the fact that she is more reserved in general it seems, but the way the presenters and him have been making constant remarks on how he's into her and how she has sort of smiled it away politely every time doesn't sit well with me. At the end of this performance when he went in for a kiss and she didn't want to comply I thought "oh ok, so they are together for real, she's just a professional who doesn't want to do this stuff in front of an audience in her place of work", but then he essentially said it was their first kiss and he thought he might as well try for it, and that gave me the irks. Especially since afterwards, during the judges' feedback, she was super serious and not really reacting as much as usual to the funny bits, I just can't help but worry that he is not respecting her boundaries in some way, and that she may be too polite or worried about this affecting their performances to say anything against his behaviour and potentially upset him.
To be honest, as a girl, it would’ve showed on her face through the end of this video if she was upset, ashamed, uncomfortable, etc. with the kiss but she maintained focus on the judges criticism and comments. When they commented she shyly laughed and went right back to focusing. I think she’s okay, which I’m glad for. I love Joey but question the kiss. I think they are good friends and can talk it out afterwards if need be.
The impromptu attempted kiss at the end did ruin it TBH, it doesn’t matter if they are going out, Vanessa is a professional and being caught off guard when trying to strike the end pose can look tacky, in fact when DOI couple do become romantic IRL and decided to kiss at the end to show off basically, it doesn’t look good. But saying that Vanessa’s response was a good way to react, it was cute to just giggle and give a hug instead in fact it kinda fit with the theme
A much better performance from Joey Essex and Vanessa Bauer. Essex ruled the rink tonight. If Dancing On Ice are looking for a brand new host or judge next year I’m up for it.
That kiss was hard to watch omg
Joey is so talented

The marks were right. He didn't do much skating.
Yeah she didn't look too amused at him for doing that! Don't blame her tbh.

I’m surprised they got 8.5s tbh. I don’t think it deserved them. His skating was very cautious and shaky.
You got this Joey
Joe Sugg and Diane Buswell did a High School Musical themed dance to that song in Strictly 2018’s Movie Week. That’s why I loved it.

I don't think Vanessa liked that kiss...and I think Joey is embarrassed a bit now...

I agree. The kiss was awkward.

I loved joey and giving Vanessa a kiss 😘 😍 I really hope they make a romantic couple x

Major dodge there 😘🤣 Awkward 😂
