REVIEW | The Bentley Mulsanne Speed - The last true Bentley Limousine?

  • We're at a transformative time for luxury cars. A time in which we're rapidly heading towards electrification, skateboard platforms and big SUVs.
The Mulsanne pushes some impressive stats, including a mind-bending 0-60MPH launch speed of 4.8 seconds despite weighing 2.7 tonnes!
We believe that the Bentley Mulsanne is possibly the last true Bentley badged limousine before the complete takeover from VAG, and for that reason, it deserves celebrating. In this video, John explores what it's like driving a £265,000 limousine with a legendary hand-built engine dating back to 1959.
EDITORS NOTE: Whoops - we got the weight slightly wrong. We state in the video it's 3,200kg when its actual weight is 2,700kg (still, very impressive, right??)

I can't get that car out of my head. It must have given Rolls-Royce sleepless nights.

My first car was a VW Phaeton, got it when I was 20, driving it now for almost 10 years. Thinking about getting a Mulsanne for my 30th birthday. Do you guys think its a good replacement? Love the channel and thanks for everything!

@@driven.videos Thanks for your reply! Yes its a hard decision. Used Mulsannes are around 80-120k here, but there is always some place for negotiations, because my dealer told me that especially the Mulsanne is hard to sell, because most buyers are looking for the Sporty Continentals. Also lets be honest, I guess a S-Class or 7-Series in that price range, offers better tech and maybe even better driving.
But well the Mulsanne is rare and has so much class... Which limousine would you choose in the 100k range ? Thanks

Hello! Congratulations on the video. Moving on, I would like to know a detail here: on some websites, it states that the Mulsanne Speed version has a maximum power of 530 HP @ 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 811 b-ft @ 1750 rpm. On the other hand, other sites mention 530 HP generated from 3500 to 4200 rpm, while the maximum torque of 811 lb-ft ranges from 1750 to 3250 rpm. Which information is correct? Or has there been any regulation change depending on the year and model of each Mulsanne? Thanks in advance, looking forward to your response.

I thought so too. Indeed, so much so I went to test drive one. Whilst at the dealers I also took the opportunity to test drive a Rolls Royce Ghost that was also for sale. I test drove the Mulsanne first. What a machine.
I got in the RR with the feeling I just wanted to get the drive over with and get signed up for the Mulsanne. Within half a mile it was a no-brainer. I bought the Rolls.

Thank you for the prompt reply. The Mulsanne, while stunning, was like a space-ship. The number of buttons and dials was overwhelming. The Ghost meanwhile was simplicity personified. Furthermore, the silence in the cabin of the Rolls was in a different league, as was the comfort of the ride. Then, last but not least, was the feeling of just "being in a Rolls". @@sidz0001

@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne No problem! Oh yes, you are so right about the simplest approach of Rolls-Royce doing with their fabulous interiors. I absolutely love the new RR Spectre. There's nothing like a Rolls Royce. I wish you many many miles with it.
I have a soft spot for the Bentley Mulsanne. I absolutely adore the buttons and dials galore as for me they reminisce the vintage look & feel of a car. Mulsanne is a highly underrated car and would forever be my dream car 𖹭
