    That’s brilliant Francesca. I love the result. I know the yarn may not be what you might have chosen for yourself but I like how appreciative you have been about receiving it and I think you have made it work so well. I’m really tempted to make a similar one! Yesterday, I did an impromptu steak too. I bought a pure wool jumper secondhand off eBay a few years ago. It’s at least 20 years old as the brand was dissolved in 2000! I just went for it. I cut it straight up the middle without marking or re enforcing. The stitches have been in place for so long in a toothy wool, they didn’t budge. Then I did an applied icord edge to each side. Now I love my ‘new’ cardigan and will wear it a lot more than the jumper which was always scratchy at the neck. Love your channel and your presenting style. Brava 🤩

      Kate! Steeking an “old” sweater is such a great idea! I also considered going for an I-cord edge instead of a full button band… I really like open cardigans. Well done! 👏

    This was a good example to follow to do an afterthought steeking . Thank you. Nice job on button band and button placement.

      Thank you! I’m so glad it was useful. I haven’t steeked anything since I made this video, but will hopefully do it again soon. It was so thrilling!

    Had put a store bought sweater (as new) in charity bag then took it out as thought it would be a good opportunity to try steeking as nothing to lose - then your video pops up - whilst I didn’t really have any concerns we still like success so you’ve certainly given me the confidence to have a go and all I will need to do now is follow your steps without having to look up TH-cam videos in preparation. Just love how yours has turned out - you’ve every right to do a little dance - well done🧶🪡🧵👏🏼

      @AnItalianKnitter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Do that! I fully support you! I feel like I'm not actually giving you a lot of "technical" advice in this video, it was more like a vlog than a tutorial, so you might still have to look up some more videos, but I'm happy I was inspirational :)

    So cute. Great job. It is not necessary but there are some cool finishing ribbons that you can add on the inside over your wip stitch…Maybeif you are shopping or on a special trip or there are lots in Norway!

    Love it! Looks much better as a cardigan i think, great job! 👍 A nice piece of fancy ribbon sewn over your excess fabric on the inside of the band would just finish that off beautifully, and make a feature of it too?

    • @AnItalianKnitter
      @AnItalianKnitter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! That would be much better I think. However I would have to sew it on by hand (I don't own a sewing machine) and I'm not sure I can do a great job... 🤔 Maybe it would still look better than how it looks now though 😂 Thanks for your suggestion

    Wow you did a really good job and gave me a big courage to try to steek! I always want to steek a sweater but I thought maybe it works only with Shetland wool which I know nothing and all I have is superwashed wool... Your video makes me know how simple steeking is!!!😭 I'm so excited to try this then!

    • @AnItalianKnitter
      @AnItalianKnitter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so happy I was able to somewhat inspire you! I'm excited for you! There are so many great tutorials on TH-cam that will help you. Also, if you own a sewing machine, the process might be faster (instead of doing the reinforcements by hand). Please let me know if you'll end up trying this and thanks for stopping by

    • @studiovivalbicocca
      @studiovivalbicocca 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnItalianKnitter Yeah! I'm thinking to secure the cutting edge by crocheting or sewing with machine! Definitely let you know when I get there😉

    Molto interessante questo video, Francesca. Questa tipologia mi piace molto….se ti va, fai altri video in cui fai vedere la lavorazione? Grazie 🤩

    • @AnItalianKnitter
      @AnItalianKnitter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grazie! Sono contenta ti sia piaciuto. A me piace moltissimo guardare questo stile di video, tipo vlog, ma ci vuole tantissimo tempo per l’editing (più di un episodio podcast “normale”) e sembra che alla gente non piacciono particolarmente (hanno meno visualizzazioni). In ogni caso, ne farò sicuramente altri, ma non tanto spesso 😂😅

  • @kimmiemamatomany6226

    How many stitches did you end up picking up for each button band?
    Love your adventurous spirit. Hope the cardigan gets lots of wear now!

    • @AnItalianKnitter
      @AnItalianKnitter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up picking up approximately 3 stitches every 4 rows, so "pick up, pick up, pick up, skip". I'm already wearing this cardigan a lot more than when it was in its sweater form, so I'm pretty happy :)

    Wow! I missed this video! Can you tell us your thoughts one year after the "snip"? Was it worth it? Did you do others of these experiments? I ask you all of this because me too I hate purling and my tension turns a bit into a mess many times...
