So glad you finally reviewed the AMG GTC! I would take this over the 992 at the same price ANY DAY. The 2018 and 2019 model years are the ones to get - louder exhaust with more pops and bangs on Sport+ and no touchpad! And proper knobs in the console, which mimic a V8!

Hi Matt, remember I bought 991 Carrera S after watching your review? Well, I switched to AMG GTS in 2017 and I never regretted. Look at yourself in that German hotrod. This is our car, bro!
In 2016 I drove a 911 GTS, Cayman GTS, Corvette Z06 and an AMG GTS. While the Porsches are likely the more "approachable" cars in terms of extracting their full potential on the street, the AMG was the only car I couldn't stop thinking about after I drove it. It has exotic "park it up front" looks, an interior that oozes opulence like the Ritz-Carlton, and the engine note is entertaining without being overtly obnoxious or understated. Outside of a very loose exterior comparison to the Viper, there's really nothing on the road like it. The AMG GT series cars a truly stunning in person; in every way.

The 2018 or 2019 GTC is the one to get. No touchpad, louder exhaust with proper Sport+ backfires (that’s gone now), and the much nicer “v8” dials on the center console. Europe and Canada are 2 markets that don’t get the touchpad. I’m sure it’s easy to swap the touchpad for the rotary dial; but again I prefer the older setup which has both a touchpad and a rotary dial.
Although I do agree on the interior that is better on older models (rotary dials in particular), I would go with the newer GTC that has improved rear bumper / exhaust pipes design as well the new front headlights. For exhaust, just need to change it like on any other newer car with OPF filters.
I totally agree. I have a 2018 GTC and the center console with the knobs/dials looks so much better than the newer models. And the wheel instead of touchpad is super easy to navigate while driving.

The old Corvette was mid engine all the way back in the 50's , and the last few models were 50/50 on purpose . They put the transmission in the rear in order to reach 50/50 weight distribution .
I have driven the AMG GT R press car on the track in Monticello. What a beast but it is a really wide car. Reminded me of driving a Viper with that long hood. I look forward to your convertible review. BTW blue is the best color for that car
I own a 2018 AMG GTC Cabriolet and its a wonderful vehicle. Interior tech on the 2020 model looks better than mine but I think that the 2018 model sounds better.
The GTC is closest to the 911 GT3 Touring, not the GTS, because the GTC has the same engine and transmission as the GTR. The 911 GTS has the same engine as the 911 S, it’s just a trim package, really. The GTC/R is significantly different from the GT/S.
Pretty insane how wide it is, my 2018 Honda Ridgeline pickup is 78.6 inches wide lol. A Tacoma with the wider flares is 75 inches wide. This car is wider than trucks lol.
Stunning: yeah. Top engineering: yeah. Awesome: yeah. One thing that is totally overlooked with all modern cars: weight. Nothing beats light weight when it comes to driving experience.
a few years ago they were going to put the 4 cylinder from the 45 cars in it with a DCT and manual, or introduce a smaller model for that to target the cayman, but it was deemed too expensive, would've been a killer, but AMG isn't into sports cars i guess
A dream car, and excellently presented. One of your best vids. Benz should be paying you for this one. The 911 is still better in terms of resale value. Benz depreciation is scary steep.
Nice Review! And by the way: there should be a little area at the top of the Touchpad where u can swipe between the radiochannels as u like with just one Finger.
it might just be me but when ever i hear transaxle i think corvette. corvette racing are the people who proved such a chasis concept could work on a world class beating level.
I've driven a few GT/S and a GT/R around a fair bit and there's definitely a big difference there. Our traffic legislation and strict enforcement is so stifling here, with penalties like car crushing however that they're entirely pointless to bother registering. All you can do is roll around everywhere or take them to a track. And just when you thought that was a bit sad our track authorities are so stifling here all the circuits are designed to limit speeds under 140mph so a GT isn't any fun there either, you get more bang for buck driving retro racers with a lot of throttle at much lower speed capabilities. After I jumped out of the GT or any of the 63s I have to drive for work I love getting in my retro baby hammer replica because it's just so much more fun to drive around. When I had to take the GT/R across a few suburbs on the freeway the entire time I was thinking I preferred to be in my own car, it was only interesting for interest sake so I could give a conversational review of one but to actually drive for driving sake, no fun at all. Too illegal to fun with. Mine I fun at maximal levels all over the place and wind up everywhere with a big grin on my face and no infringements. Using that as a baseline I place maximum fun factor without legal worries at about 300hp as opposed to 500+, anything over 300hp and you're too busy being paranoid to have any fun because the traffic authority is so strict here with cameras and highway patrols everywhere. WRX, bags of fun. C63, don't touch the throttle. Sucks dicks I know but car crushing sucks bigger ones.
What a BEAUTIFUL car and that satin blue looks AMAZING! Thanks for the review. Very well done! BTW. I don't know why but this makes me miss the Viper even more.
No Mr. Farrah, the touchpad of this "still COMAND" system isn't that bad at all! The only thing here is, that you were fucking annoyed because you weren't used to it. I think that customers of this car will very easily adapt to this system and they will like it, when they are used to it. Here in Europe really nobody has a problem to operate this infotainment system. What's so "terrible" about it??? Because you weren't used to it doesn't mean that it's bad! The reason why it didn't get the touchscreen but the AMG GLC 63 did, was because the GLC got a bigger midcycle refresh treatment with the newest infotainment system including MBUX. It was a bit of unfortunate moment when AMG introduced the GT model midcycle refresh as one of the last Mercedes vehicles with the COMAND system, but some much cheaper Mercedes-Benz models already got the new MBUX system.
Great review, but as far the touch pad is concerned, you can use the touch pad on the steering wheel as well to operate the radio. I thought it was going to be a dealer breaker too, but in driving I think having the touch screen for the driver to operate to be awkward. I was able to use the scroll on the steering well easily. I feel that having a touch screen would be more useful for the passenger to have access to the screen to make changes. Wonderful review and video!!!
nice review, I got a used GTS in Feb and love it, done a couple of mods, tune, new steering wheel and some carbon. I hate the command system too ;). I was in the market for either a GTS or a 911 Turbo S, love both, but the GTS is more of a hooligan, which I wanted :)

Imagine a z06 with even more unusable power. Done.
@@Mike-dy8sj Yeah this lmao
The old Corvette was mid engine all the way back in the 50's , and the last few models were 50/50 on purpose . They put the transmission in the rear in order to reach 50/50 weight distribution .
I have driven the AMG GT R press car on the track in Monticello. What a beast but it is a really wide car. Reminded me of driving a Viper with that long hood. I look forward to your convertible review. BTW blue is the best color for that car
oooh that exterior looks slick
I like how you reference your notes. Seems more legit, haha. Seriously though.
The shape, the color, the wheels... So good looking.
You can use the Touchpads on your Steeringwheel for changing the Radiostation...
You can literally control everything on the command screen from the thumb pad on the right side of the steering wheel which is fantastic.
One of the most gorgeous cars ever made...
Pretty insane how wide it is, my 2018 Honda Ridgeline pickup is 78.6 inches wide lol. A Tacoma with the wider flares is 75 inches wide. This car is wider than trucks lol.
Favorite car in my favorite spec 🙌🏼 hope to upgrade the f-type in a few years to this
Stunning: yeah. Top engineering: yeah. Awesome: yeah.
One thing that is totally overlooked with all modern cars: weight.
Nothing beats light weight when it comes to driving experience.
This is really just luxury grand touring car though. It really isn't meant to break any track records or anything.
a few years ago they were going to put the 4 cylinder from the 45 cars in it with a DCT and manual, or introduce a smaller model for that to target the cayman, but it was deemed too expensive, would've been a killer, but AMG isn't into sports cars i guess
This is just perfection.
Sounds brilliant on those upshifts
I love how it looks like you're about to take it bajaing when you do the walk around. Cracked me up!
2:33 It is nice to see a Turkish signature on that awesome engine
🙏🙏 Shoutout to the Turks killing it out there
A dream car, and excellently presented. One of your best vids. Benz should be paying you for this one. The 911 is still better in terms of resale value. Benz depreciation is scary steep.
Nice Review! And by the way: there should be a little area at the top of the Touchpad where u can swipe between the radiochannels as u like with just one Finger.
Simply beautiful
That soundtrack, beautiful.
The color and that wide body is a beautiful look

What a beautiful car!
Man, those roads are fantastic.
Best car reviewer of them all. Excellent. Keep it up.
Mercedes is winning the sportscar battle from BMW and Audi with this car. Bravo!
Somewhat. The r8 is hardly comparable. They're just different. Bmw doesn't have a solid competitor for those two yet tho
it might just be me but when ever i hear transaxle i think corvette. corvette racing are the people who proved such a chasis concept could work on a world class beating level.
i guess the panoz gtr-1,lmp1.as wheel. some say 944 but the 944 was the 911s little brother not meant beat or compete with the 911.
The Most beautiful Car to me
Matt pulling his best Saul Goodman impression in the outro.
Gorgeous machine, new dream car! Hopefully they'll depreciate sufficiently and I can then afford one in ten years' time 😁
I've driven a few GT/S and a GT/R around a fair bit and there's definitely a big difference there.
Boy Mercedes sure has become proud of their Air vents. Front and center lol.
The blue is gorgeous on that car.
Does anyone actually win these Omaze grand prizes?
probably rigged af
Like "Publishers Clearing House!" $7,000 a week for life? Yeah Right!
probably a buddy of the organizer. otherwise it's just like entering the lotto for car guys
No way. Its just for marketing and data mining.
Carl_ifornia G I entered a contest once like a dumbass and “donated” $25 for the chance to win a C7 corvette 🤦♂️
Jesus that is a BEAUTIFUL car!!!
What road is that, it looks like a great road to put on my list to drive next time i'm Stateside.
Matt you forgot one more addition the "AMG GTR Pro Black Series". Not kidding.
it’s actually just called the GT Black Series, check Shmee150’s channel

I love it. Will be looking at a 16/17 when my lease is up on the NSX.
This is one of my favorite cars on sale right now. Great review
Finally......starting to think he did not like Mercedes. I love this car. Had to get one.
Beautiful car! I love these in silver but damn that matte blue is amazing!
Interesting Matt says its a "dense" car. Thats exactly how I've always percieved these, having never driven one.
I completely agree. I own a GTR and have driven the base AMG GT, and it's really the feeling you get from a lot of these heavier, big power cars.
Snow_White_MR2 I think the mental to that is the very heavy hydraulic steering also, fellow gtr owner
The 2016, first gen of these cars also have the individual settings mode.
Do they even make it in the GTS version anymore ? Noticed on the MBZ website that model isn't even listed anymore.
I'll wait 2 years and then pick one up after that 30% + depreciation sets in!
