Sorry, I have drove both as well, I love my Ram 1500 laramie ecodisel truck, it is way better than my previous 2020 jeep gladiator rubicon or 2011 Ford Raptor. Ride quality Ram -10 Jeep - 5 Room inside Ram - 10 Jeep - 5 Ride noise Ram - 10 Jeep - 6 I know Jeep people love them and that is cool, just my thoughts.
I had a 2015 F250 with a 6” lift and my back went out on me, I couldn’t get in the truck to go to the doctor. Being 70 yrs young 2 days later I became a Gladiator owner and your right about the cab space. But it is really enjoyable to drive
A big component people miss is what do you need the truck to do? I haul groceries and an occasion small Lowes project. I simply don’t need a full size truck and didn’t use my Ram Rebel anymore than I do with my mid size truck. If you are towing or hauling max loads all the time get a full size truck.
This is what I was looking to hear. I drive a 2016 F-150 with the 6.5 foot bed, and I use the bed frequently. Not every inch, but I like having the space. I’m thinking going to a Gladiator will be a good change. Thanks for the video. :)
Couldn't have said it any better myself. I too had a 2016 ram 1500 crew cab, loved it and a trouble free truck.by the way. I retired and didn't need 2 vehicles, my other one was a modified 2005 jeep tj. I can do it all with this gladiator rubicon diesel. I was hoping you would mention how easy it was to reach in the bed, so nice. Trouble free so far and love it.
I was considering the Gladiator to replace my 06 Dakota but the bed and interior where just too small and the price was too much for a midsizer. Got a new Ram 1500 Classic quad cab with 6 seats, 6’4 ft bed, and the hemi with everything I needed for less and never looked back. Hope it’s still serving you well!
Looking forward to getting one when we move to Colorado in the next year or so. I'd love it if it were available with a manual in the diesel, but after having my right leg lopped off, it's not really an issue anymore😂 great informative video sir! 🤙🏼
I'm in CO, and have a Gladiator Rubicon, but with the Pentastar V6 gas engine (and automatic transmission). No regrets not getting the diesel (have zero interest in diesel in any vehicle, nor do I want anything electric, either). No issues so far, but I don't even have 2K miles on it yet! -- BR
No chance for manual/diesel combo in the foreseeable future. That sucks because that would be an awesome combo, though I don’t think the Rubicon diesels have the 4:1 t-case/4.10 gear combo. Just started to look at the diesels (JT/JL) as Overland options for mpg/range. Although sometimes finding diesel in remote locales can be hard.
@@J.Young808 As mentioned, I've never been interested in any vehicle (whether designed for on or off-road use) with a diesel engine (for assorted reasons) so it's only gas for me. And presently, the ONLY choice of gas engine for a 2021 Gladiator is the Pentastar V6 Naturally-Aspirated (N-A), which is fine for my needs. True, a N-A engine has less HP & torque than a turbo engine, but "it's less complex & more durable over time" I'd expect (I HOPE that consensus of online-opinion is correct!). Besides, how much "power" (HP/torque) does one REALLY need off-road rock-crawling (Gladiator Rubicon) or desert-running (Gladiator Mojave)? Or even for road-trips on a freeway, let alone driving in-town? Not a whole lot, so why pay for "more power" then? To impress others/have bragging rights? Not a good reason for me -- not into vanity, just capability & performance, not looks/engine sound (cosmetics) -- or even how FAST it is. Don't care: I like to drive SLOWLY off-road, enjoy the ride/scenery -- not speed by it all! Who do I need to drag-race out there, or in town even? What's the hurry? There's isn't any (for me). Yes, there's the Wrangler 392 available now, which has LOTS of power (!), but for me, I see NO use for something like that, as (1) the starting price of $75K is outrageous (and people say a Gladiator Rubicon's price is outrageous!), and (2) would not want to be visiting gas-pumps even MORE driving a 392 (14mpg combined) than I already do now with my Gladiator (19mpg combined). The negative poor MPG the Gladiator gets is about as far as I'm prepared to tolerate in exchange for all the positive things the Gladiator has. While I drive mostly city, I sometimes take long-road-trips, and gas-costs are a big consideration -- re: a 2K-4K mile round-trip, the higher the MPGs the better! ;-) Yes, I know that poor MPG goes with owning a "serious" 4x4/off-road capable vehicle with its big tires, lift, no air-dam (and in the case of a Wrangler/Gladiator, its "traditional & antiquated" NOT-aerodynamic boxy design) is a given, and that's fine -- within reason, that is! Personally though, I couldn't tolerate (nor justify $$-wise) owning a 392 V8 engine, even in a Gladiator. -- BR
Thank you for posting this! I am in the same exact situation. I have a 2018 GMC Sierra currently but have about 115k miles on it. Will probably trade up in a year or two. I have loved these Gladiators since they came out but do not want to regret the decision to go away from a full size. My wife loves traveling in the truck for all the same reasons you mentioned about your Ram. The space, cupholders etc. I have an 8 and 4yo so the back seat space was a concern as well. The Gladiator has more rear seat legroom than the other mid size trucks so I think it would be fine. I also like parking in the garage and have the same problem. The Sierra fits but you have to squeeze around it.
I agree with everything you said but I wish the bed was a little deeper. I can the point of making it a little more shallow for easier access but after adding a tonneau cover I’d prefer to have those few inches of depth.
I have been running Jeep’s and pickup trucks for 25 years. I got excited to try the gladiator to see if I could combine both a truck and a jeep and be happy. It seemed like a Swiss Army knife, can do the job just not well. I feel like it wasn’t a good jeep or a good truck. Bed is too shallow and short for my needs. Would be fine for most people, I’ll keep a Jeep at home
I would like both. I have a Ram 2500 primarily for the travel trailer, transfer station duty and some light off roading. It is a beast in every respect and perfect for the purposes noted. Daily driving? Parking lots? not so much... I presently drive a five year old Jeep Renegade that has been a wonderful daily driver AND dog car. But, it is limited for off roading and that is not a criticism. It will do better than a Subaru or any other AWD vehicle and has done so, but I can't do many places I would like to that are close to where I live. The Gladiator back is NOT as good as a Renegade for dogs...unless you remove the seats. That's no problem and I will do that... Then I'm good and can further relegate the 2500 to concentrating on pulling the travel trailer.
Test drove one. Granted I have a 8" bed crew cab F250 turbo diesel with the off road package. Found the power lacking. Found the steering vague. Towing and cargo capacity is minimal for a truck. Lighting is poor. Road noise is loud as well as wind noise. And its cost is about the same (fully loaded Jeep Mojavi). Just can't justify the change over.
I feel like for the price, you would be better off with a standard crew cab 1500 , over the gladiator… cabin size, ride quality etc… they do look really nice tho
Jeep Gladiator is the best pickup for hardcore off-roading period. If you need to haul more than it can carry every once in a while use a trailer. If you haul all the time for work get a Ford super duty with an 8 foot bed but don't expect to take that on any trails.
I looked at a gladiator and took it for a test ride and it was just way too small inside for me. I felt crushed in there lol. I decided on my second test ride that day a 2020 Ram 1500 lol. Love my truck!
I traded my 2021 Titan SV for a 2022 Gladiator ecodiesel. I see the same issues. The Titan was more refined and a better ride with a lot of storage, however the Gladitor is easier in town to drive, more fun to drive and a useful bed for someone who no longer needs a full size. I just enjoy driving more now.
Coming from std cab full size GM pickups for decades, it was time to step up to a crew cab pickup in 2020, I never had any failures with my previous trucks, but i was going to keep an open mind on which brand i buy this time, I drove several different brands and types of pickups including a new Gladiator Rubicon, I was close to signing papers on the Jeep until I verified seat position, no way to adjust the bottom front of the seat up enough to support the bottom of my legs, I'm 6-1 with long legs and could not get comfortable, So I went with a Sierra AT4 with the 6.2, , there is more interior room in a full size but I really liked the Gladiator when I drove i aside from the seat , and the size of the bed is a non issue because I own a 8' tilt trailer. I read the 2024 Gladiator may offer power seat which may give me enough adjustment for my legs, and though the AT4 has been flawless, I may consider the Gladiator on my next truck.
I was coming from a 2019 chevy 1500 with the 5.3l gas, I do miss the space and depth of the bed, I was kinda worried I went with the gladiator but i'm very surprised of how good the gladiator is, driving is so much fun and easy, handles very nice and does actually tow better in high elevation and it's not screaming high rpm compared to my 5.3l. I love everything about and the coolness of it. I get a lot of complements too!
Considering letting my f250 crew go and hunting a diesel gladiator. For what I can get for a 20 year old truck I’m tempted. But when I need to haul anything I can…hard choice.
I used to have a f350, it was a great truck, my son is buying it from me. My gladiator is used as a truck: lumber, garbage, and anything i need. If i haul longer lumber than 8 foot, i then use my trailer which has a 14 foot length.
Hi. I have an amarok and I want to change it for a gladiator but i dont know if its good for long trips with family i have 3 little kids. thanks for your video.
Are you still happy with the gladiator? I had a '22 for 6 months but traded it bc i got the small screen, bad stereo, and a manual. I didn't like the stereo and the wife wouldn't learn to drive the manual. Now that the '24 is getting the big screen I'm considering another one and trading in my current f150. I'll get an automatic this time
I just loaded 30 bags of mulch in my Mojave took it with no problem . My Denali would have carried a whole pallet. But I still love my jeep better it’s allot more fun to drive.
As someone whose family has at current a Jeep Renegade (1/4-ton), a Silverado 1500 (1/2-ton), and a Ram 2500 (3/4-ton)...The Jeep has a broken trunk-deck because of 2 bags of concrete, the Silverado has excessive wear on the rear bottom leafs because of a pallet of potting soil, and the Ram doesn't fit in the driveway (It only fits in the garage because the garage was custom built 30' long with an 8' door) but the Ram doesn't notice anything under a ton of cargo.
I drive a Ram with 6'4" bed and wife drives a Gladiator. Every time I get behind the wheel of her Jeep I think to sell my truck. There are definite trade offs. Lucky to own both :)
I’m not sure which one should I get a jeep gladiator or a 2021 Ford F-150 XLT sport with the max towing package to pull a 5k enclosed trailer and a fishing boat
On your jeep does the motor shut off when you are at a stop light? If so can that be shut off? Plus is there a separate starter that is used to start it back up when taking off?
Interesting subject. I actually just traded my 19 Ram 1500 limited for a new Mojave. So far so good. Not towing over 6000 lbs any longer and bed size seems adequate for weekend home depot runs. Thanks to the tailgate.
Can you share your experience with a full size truck and the gladiator as far as ride comfort? I love my gladiator. My wife hates how you feel every bump. Is the ride also rough on a full size truck? This is my first truck.
Ride quality is the same. My Gladiator rides just like my prior full size trucks. Ride comfort is less in the Gladiator simply because the interior space is smaller. The back row seating is really only good for kids and teens on trips. So I'd say in terms of overall comfort the full size wins. But if we're only talking ride quality it's the same. Remember that Gladiator has a rear coil spring setup that's a revised version of the Ram 1500 setup. Coils are generally thought of to ride better than the leaf springs that Ford and GM use.

With all due respect...when you leased the RAM you specifically mentioned one of the main reasons leasing the RAM 1500 was the growing size of your(family) kids ( being 6ft plus) and the fact the RAM truck had so much more interior cabin room in addition to it's towing capacity. I've had a gladiator. The interior is extremely small with absolutely no convenient attributes. I drove it long distance, only to be tossed around by the wind going 75 -80...I did not like the instability of the Galidator. I came from an F150 Plantium 4x4 with Nito's and quickly realized after 3K miles it wasn't the "truck" for me. I say "truck" loosely. Simply put, there is no comparison to your full-size RAM. In my opinion, it's apples and oranges. Yes, I realize it can be said it's the same engine, somewhat tow capacity, etc... in my opinion, no comparison. I drive a RAM 1500 Limited 4x4 ... it's the best truck I have ever owned. Please note: I"don't mean any disrespect...quite frankly I enjoy your videos.
When I price a Gladiator out against a Ram 1500 Warlock with the SAME V6 engine why does Jeep charge you $2000 for the same Automatic transmission that Rams doesn't? Then there's the real kick in the Balls, $1550 for a hardtop. WTF with that? The hardtop, auto transmission, and then $1400 for LED Headlights??? Then on top of those rip-offs, the Jeep dealers tack on more "$1000 dealer fees". That's why I refuse to buy a Jeep.
Sorry, I have drove both as well, I love my Ram 1500 laramie ecodisel truck, it is way better than my previous 2020 jeep gladiator rubicon or 2011 Ford Raptor.

It does everything I want it to do, sure you have to get a little creative hauling things at time; however, I’ve always made it work!

I simply don’t need a full size truck and didn’t use my Ram Rebel anymore than I do with my mid size truck. If you are towing or hauling max loads all the time get a full size truck.
Couldn't agree more. At times I miss my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie. However, the trade off for the Gladiator and its capabilities,,, definitely worth it.

Can't put my one piece 7 ft fishing rods in the back of a gladiator I ordered a Ram classic tradesman quad cab 4x4 with the 6 ft 4 inch bed 👍🐟🎣😊
I understand the bed thing but about 2' more would have been nice in depth.
I love your videos. I just wish I could get a gladiator with a manual with the diesel or a v8....
I hear that the V8 might actually happen....

Great choice in apparel
I’m not sure which one should I get a jeep gladiator or a 2021 Ford F-150 XLT sport with the max towing package to pull a 5k enclosed trailer and a fishing boat
This was the review I’ve been waiting for. Thanks
Nice comments, enjoyed it.
Great video. Thanks.
Awsome should be some fun this summer
hey OFFRD!!!! are you going to make a video towing your new tractor with the Gladiator??
On your jeep does the motor shut off when you are at a stop light? If so can that be shut off? Plus is there a separate starter that is used to start it back up when taking off?
Interesting subject. I actually just traded my 19 Ram 1500 limited for a new Mojave. So far so good. Not towing over 6000 lbs any longer and bed size seems adequate for weekend home depot runs. Thanks to the tailgate.
Me personally am so happy that you finally came back to the dark side 😂😂

I agree 100%!
I bought the plainer brother to your truck; hydro blue ecodiesel sport s. I didn’t order the 8.4 inch stereo or the upgraded sound system. I kinda wish I’d gotten the 8.4 inch screen, but the stock speakers are fine for me. I did get the trail rail cargo management system, and it came in handy a week ago when I took some tires to a local tire recycling drive. The power outlet in the bed will probably come in handy too, though full disclosure, I haven’t used it yet.
Did you guys hear about the two new engines for the gladiator. V6 twin turbo and the Hellcat
Will the diesel Gladiator towing max load hold speed going up 6% grades or will you be stuck doing 45mph up it?
It will hold at least in my experience
You could've traded that Gladiator with the wood in the bed, and doubled your money!!! Then you can buy another one, plus have 40k left over.
With all due respect...when you leased the RAM you specifically mentioned one of the main reasons leasing the RAM 1500 was the growing size of your(family) kids ( being 6ft plus) and the fact the RAM truck had so much more interior cabin room in addition to it's towing capacity.
Little itty bitty truck
