Very nice. I remember visiting my cousins and aunts, uncle in 1980 and no refrigerators, only 2 hrs of electricity in the evening just getting TVs , no fast food restaurants and no airport... It was great!
I remember those times as well; the very simple life. In my early years; the light in most villages went out at 12 midnight. I remember my grandmother at 5 minutes prior, lighting up the Kerosene lamps. Good times!!! Take care George! Saude!

I was wondering if the flora in Pico is similar to Sao Miguel. I love all the blue hydrangeas and hibiscus that you see all along the winding roads in Sao Miguel. Not sure if Pico is the same. Love all the fruits that grow native to the islands and sadly not readily available in Canadian markets. Your videos take me back to my childhood, it’s like food for the soul!

Not to be indelicate but I assume the toilet in that old outhouse just let out into the pig sty underneath? One of my memories of the first time I visited Pico when I was about 5 years old was using the outhouse at my aunt's family's house which was built on the edge of the pig style below and being freaked out because I could see the pigs looking up at me through the toilet seat on the bench in the outhouse, lol. Loved the tour of the work you've done in the quintals at both houses.
In a funny way; that outhouse memory is pretty cool. btw; it did not go into the pig sty! lol. I also have some similar memories of my early child hood. Glad you enjoyed this episode. Take care Robert!

Laura, have you tried Migretil (made by Bial) for your migraine? It has paracetamol, caffeine, tartarato de ergotamina and belladona alcaloids. It costs about 8.50 (this can vary) and although the box says "prescription needed", you really don't need one. As you have probably discovered by now the only medicines that REALLY need prescriptions are those that contain addictive substances. In 30 years of life in Portugal I have never been asked for a prescription for Migretil. You have to take it when you first start to feel the migraine is coming. You might feel a bit high perhaps because of the belladona but don't worry about that. I used to suffer from horrible migraines and now I never get them. It might be my age though as we all go through hormonal changes with age, especially the ladies.
