Mr Z is part of a long time yachting family that have owned several decent sized vessels in and around the Great Lakes , East coast U.S. and the Med. The 2008 50 meter Heesen Man of Steel " being one. The 50 meter was sold after an unfortunate and ugly tender accident in the Exuma's islands a few years back.
Spielberg has always had a reputation for treating all his staff well. Nice to see it reciprocated by his crew. 😊
Barry Zekelman lives down the road from me in Lakeshore, Ontario. He owns Atlas Tube Steel Company and has 2 other boats and they are also called Man Of Steel with the Z on the placard! He is a very nice man and philanthropist - He funded a recreational complex called the Atlas Tube Centre where there are 3 ice rinks, community pool, etc etc and it is a jewel to our community near Windsor, Ontario. Enjoy the boat Barry and live long and prosper!

The line "You're going to need a bigger boat," wasn't in the script, it was ad-libbed by Chief Brody. It fitted so well it was kept in.

Thought of Zekelman immediately because I saw his 37m Heesen "Man Of Steel" in Nantucket some years ago. The first time I saw or even heard of the brand. Looked it up online to find out about the boat and it's owner. Later on read about his turbine powered cat that did about 185 mph.
Another vessel decidedly not a super yacht that I was aboard once was what became the Orca used in Jaws. This was before it was sold to Spielberg. The boat and it's owner were both characters. The boat was in a marina in Quincy, Mass. The boat sold to "Jaws" for much more then it's market price. The seller was thrilled!

The new owner is a native of Canada (Windsor /Essex region.. Across from Detroit). He owns perhaps the largest and most expensive house within the area. And every very large boat that he has had has contained the Z logo. It's his trademark for the last 15 to 20 years. His original boat was a 20m or so speedboat. Very slick. Nice thing about Canada, at least in this region, is that there are no closed communities.. You can drive past the house, and the private, gated boat dock. Our paper reported on this a few months back.. Perhaps about the same time that your channel knew about it. Can't be sure. Great channel. New viewer, I enjoy the content that you create. Thanks.

If the boat isn't going to be launched in two or three years, assuming normal construction pace, what will the crew be doing in the meanwhile?

Perhaps helping make sure the new yacht is built exactly as they know Mr. Spielberg wants it done, and learning everything there is to know about their particular area of it.
For the majority, probably relaxing. There are contracts for crew for off-season where their pay is less (maybe 1/3 or 1/4) but they're kept on retainer so when the season starts, they return to the yacht. I would surmise this would be the same. As eSysman stated, once certain stages of the build are completed, crew members are generally added and trained, so this would likely be when his previous yacht's crew would trickle in for their duties.
@@grondhero what would happen if the crew accept the retaining fee, and in the meantime found something better job and decided not to join the new vessel ?

According to Vessel Radar there are a lot of Superyachts moored in Barcelona. Why?
Barcelona yacht show was last week. Also, extensive superyacht facilities in Barcelona, and also several companies here that complete superyacht repair/refurb work.
Google Earth shows, what is apparently the 590' AZZAM, in drydock in Barcelona. Huge!! And pretty cool.
Its no wonder his crew wanted to stay with him.. Mr. Spielberg is famous for being WONDERFUL to SIMPLY EVERYONE on his movie crews right down to the lowliest of the low. On a film "lunch" is taken 6 hours after the start of the day regardless of the time of day it is still called "lunch". Lunch is 30 minutes from the time the last person goes through the lunch line - so obviously lunch is much longer for the 1st person who goes through that line than the last. The 1st person has a leisurely lunch, a long chat, can catch up on their emails and make a few phone calls. This can be important since you have another 6 hours to go after that, possible over time, getting back home, or if you are on location back to the hotel. It is a very very long day. Mr. Spielberg goes through the line last. The person who's time is certainly the most valuable, makes sure - HE GOES LAST. It is a kindness I have never heard of, ever. He pays people well, treats everyone with respect - there is no funny business. Yeah.... I am absolutely positive that everyone who has every worked for him in any capacity- ever, would do anything to make sure they stayed working for him. I haven't, a very good friend of mine has. In an industry filled with - well, you know, she showers him with praise about just what a wonderful human he is - and not by industry standards- by human standards. If you are ever offered a job by him - don't hesitate 😉

I’ve joined the crew on nights out in and around the Bahamas and south Florida a few times. All seemed like smart, genuinely nice people. They all really seemed to love their jobs. They get treated with respect, they’re paid well, they basically have an open checkbook for nights out and dinners off the boat (as well as obviously having everything covered on the boat). Definitely seems like Spielberg makes sure to keep a happy and respectful work atmosphere.

I figured it would have been some minor Russian Oligarch. Having lived through most of the Cold War, I figured it was possible that "Man of Steel" could have also been a reference to Stalin.

Re-naming a yacht is this a simple process, or a lengthy process to complete.
Simple. You register it with a Port state. The only legal restriction is that Port cannot have a vessel with that name already or one that can cause an accident (e.g. names like MAYDAY or COASTGUARD), but some Ports have local rules on vulgarity.

@@leewill2457 I made terminology errors, I should have said "a registry port of the flag state". You register at a port that is authorised to take registrations, that's why you see port names as well as boat names e.g. the fictional boat of the titles here is "eSysMan" (boat name) and "Bloody Bay" (port of registration) and the flag he would be flying is the Cayman Islands (that's the flag state, the state of the flag a boat flies). The "port state" is the country (or legal jurisdiction) who operate the port you're heading into.

@@darthkek1953 I think there is some American state which has a major amount of yacht registrations. It is ether land locked or does not have a lot of coastline but they register there because of the sales tax and fees.

Diesels will do that if they have been at idle for awhile and then suddenly put under a heavy load. it will probably clear up pretty quickly.
Imagine having an 86m superyacht and deciding it just wasn't quite enough....
I wouldn't associate the name Man of Steel with the Zack Synder movie though. Superman has been known in his early days in the 1930s and 1940s already as the Man of Steel.
I doubt anyone involved in those movies from the 30s & 40s are buying yachts right now.

At first, when I saw the 'Z', and you'd said the boat was called 'Man of Steel', I thought it was a reference to General Zod. 😂 And started to assume it was someone who was really into Superman comics, movies, etc...
I don't know what Zack Snyder's worth. He's not new to Hollywood by any means. But the MCU has brought in way more money than the DCU. It wouldn't surprise me if Snyder could afford it though.
On another note. Isn't it kind of... sad that it's so difficult to find out who owns these boats. Because they don't want everyone knowing they can afford to live such a life as one can, when they can afford a boat like that. Even though everyone knows they're loaded.
But if the media or government is pissed because you disagree with their narrative or agenda, they will out you on national/ international TV. Post your address and social media pages.
The reason many if not the vast majority of rich people do not want people they own a yacht like that or any bashfulness regarding their wealth it is so they do not become a target for some lunatic or some criminals intent on helping themselves to their property or taking them or their family hostage.

FYI, the term "man of steel" associated with the character Superman goes WAY back before the movie title in the comic books back in the 1930's. Of course, the other 'man of steel' in history was Josef Stalin!--his name, an invention or "nom de guerre" literally means Steel/Stalin! Also, in the earlier Superman movies it was explained that the "s" in a shield logo on his chest was actually the family coat of arms of sorts for his Kryptonian family, the "El"'s--His name is Kal-El, his father Jor-El. etc. etc. and of course only we stupid uninformed Earthlings mistook it for an S. Ah well...
Not sure what this has to do with my video? The film that starred Henry Cavil was called Man of Steel. That's what I was basing my theory on. There are no people who were involved with the film in 1930s buying SuperYachts now.

You need to understand the landscape of TH-cam and media in general. Traditional titles don’t work anymore. And if I put the full name in the title it would give all the info before they watched it.
You’re either interested or not. You’ll watch it or you won’t. But I need to attract people to the channel. And it’s not ckickbait, click bait would be ‘naked photos of…’ and it’s a video of a superyacht.

Meanwhile people who already like and consistently watch your videos are slowly being alienated and driven away by clickbait & channels catering to the lowest common denominator.
