    I did exactly the method on a 1/72 spit that I had been using as a paint mule, so several layers, all Humbrol enamel, and I ended up with a perfectly clean model with fillers untouched. I used neat dettol and no scrubbing required.....amazing!

    When I was a kid in the 1970s, my mum used to put that in my bath water. 😂🤣

    I tried using this method and it worked well. However I wanted to remove paint and keep the colour of the plastic (blue) underneath. The paint was removed but the dettol changed the colour of the plastic underneath, sort of bleached it. Of course I can paint this bit too, but now must paint the whole body, something I wanted to avoid. So if using this method just bear that in mind.

    I use 3m surface cleaner for resin , to remove acrylic paint .
    Leave them in for about an hour , take out , clean with an old tooth brush and they come up Good as new .

    Very nice video mate. I suspect it's the combination of the IPA and oil/soap in there. I have a 1/35 tank with a janky paint coat and will try this.

      Cheers! Hopefully it works for you! I've stripped quite a few kits now using it.

    Nice technique. I've used non acetone nail polish remover for acrylic paint in the past. What kind of paint was on this one - I know you said it was airbrushed.

      The white was tamiya spray paint and the black and grey stripes were tamiya x acrylic paints. I have yet to try it with any other laquer paints but if it removes the TS paint I'd imagine it will work with most paints.

    I was able to find Dettol at Walmart here in Canada, not sure if they have it in the USA.

      I think pinesol is similar but I don't know how well it works.

    Hey there, great video, i have a plastic rear bumper on my 1:18 and im planning to get the paint off, would this work?

    • @GlueSniffGarage
      @GlueSniffGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the paint. Dettol doesn't seem to work with stripping enamel paints.

    Also, is the white layer just the spray paint removed? Or is it also the normal layer, and is the white just the plastic? Because i did not paint my plastic parts, and im wondering if it will take off the paint without damaging it

      The car in the video was sprayed with Tamiya pure white and the stripes were Tamiya acrylics. The plastic was also white.
      If you haven't painted your plastic parts there's a good chance it's just moulded in coloured plastic. You should be able to prime and paint over them if that's the case.

      @@GlueSniffGarage Thanks! Thats great! So i dont have to remove the paint?

    • @GlueSniffGarage
      @GlueSniffGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if it's came straight out of the box it's probably just the colour of the plastic that they've used so it probably won't have any paint on it at all. Unless it's a prepainted kit.
      If the plastic is a drastically different colour to the colour you want to paint it just make sure you prime it well so it doesn't shine through your paintwork.

      What kit is it you are working on?

    • @charged3540

      @Glue Sniff Garage Yeah, it came straight out of a box, no one painted on it, its jut the plastic it came in is like navy, and i want to paint it white

    dettol to water ratio 1:1? And how long does it need to immerse?

    • @GlueSniffGarage
      @GlueSniffGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you can use straight dettol. I just added some water to make sure the car was fully submerged. 24hours will usually do it but it depends how thick the paint is. If it's mega thick it might need longer with a scrub in-between.
