After I read this comment I watched Liam the 2nd time around and when Matt says this he does this little -sigh-, almost like relief. He knows the gift Matt is giving him in that moment and what it means.
gods marisha in that last clip is the definition of what DnD and other tabletop games can really do to you. That shit wasn't just acting, Marisha Ray was that struck by the scene and what was going on to be that emotionally moved to basically break down over a fictional relationship with a fictional character. Like now she's married to matt mercer the DM here but even in these moments here and in camptaign 2 this roleplaying game is so strong as to bring these trained actors to tears and fandoms to fury. I love this hobby
To be fair, I've seen quite a few people mention that Liam's mother was going through the process of passing away during this time which is why they're all especially emotional. They basically gave Liam a final eulogy for his mother in their own way. If that is true (which I believe it is) then it was a really kind thing of them to do for their friend. It's no wonder they're all acting like they're at a funeral, because they basically are. For someone real.
Makes me feel an extreme sense of commadery to see Tal get closer to Marisha at around 11:20 and physically comfort her, unintrusively, subtetly. Hats off.
There is such gentle finality to the way Liam closes his character folio in those final moments. None of the usual rambunctious or energy, just a job well done, a life completed, a duty fulfilled. Goodbye Vax, you will be missed
I'm a pretty new CR viewer and I had heard about that death scene at the end of this video, but I haven't seen any if that campaign outside of clip videos like this and I didn't think it would get me emotionally. Cue me watching it for the first time in this compilation and sobbing uncontrollably on the floor where I was sitting because it moved me so much 😭
It hits even harder when you know they weren't crying for Vax. They were crying for their friend, Liam. During that time his mother's health had been getting worse until she finally passed away and Matt basically gave Liam a final moment for closure for both his character and his mother. It was already a pretty sad scene before I learned that but man, that sucks so much for Liam. He's such a good guy.
You want an example of "bisexual disaster" I will always point to 2:12 and Marisha Ray being so flustered at romancing Ashley Johnson that she didn't even register what her HUSBAND was saying to her 🤣🤣. I love all of them so much!!
