Thanks for the video. The Thais have a sense of service: a few years ago I had a flight from Vientiane to Bangkok and Bangkok to Siem Reap. My Vientiane Bangkok flight was very late and I thought about missing my flight to Siem Reap. On the plane to Bangkok I was told that a car would be waiting for me at the foot of the plane to take me practically to my boarding gate for Siem Reap. I was the last to board but thanks to the professionalism of the Thais I was able to board. What I didn't know is that there is a specific passport control in the middle where the car dropped me off. I thought that my luggage would not be in Siem Reap because they would not have had time to track but to my great surprise I got my luggage in Siem Reap 😃😀
Wow, that is pretty amazing! I honestly never heard a story like that before. I wonder if Emirates or Singapore first class would even give you that service (although that might just show that i've never flow 1st class ;))
This shuttle is the first deployment of a German innovation caled NeoVAL, a spinoff of the French VAL used in cities across France, in Turin, Italy and on the Taipei Metro.
Thanks for the video. I never even noticed the new terminal construction last Nov/Dec when I was in and out of Bangkok a few times. As you probably realized, the shuttle to and from S1 is nothing like the Icon Siam train, which I found really weird and very slow. The new S1 train is very similar to those in Hong Kong and not unlike several others I've experienced in SE Asia and Europe. Happy trails!
Oh, the Icon Siam Gold Line train... in a few months, you could come to my city and take the Airport train... the logic of the Gold Line had a very much similar feel, though you won't have to go downstairs and back up to change trains, as that change of trains will be possible on the same platform within just minutes. YOW.
Thanks Jeroen! Always good seeing you and Mirela. Phew! That was a close call! Glad you made it. Trust you guys are having a wonderful time in Hanoi, and really looking forward to your exciting videos of the place.
The more I see of Thailand the more I like it. My son is on holiday there at the moment but my only brief encounter was when I travelled by train from Bangkok to Singapore quite a few years ago. A memorable (in the best possible way) journey.
In January I arrived there with Philippine Airlines and departed with Turkish as well. The satellite terminal is quite impressive and much larger than i thought it would be. For Turkish however not ideal, because their lounge is at the D-concours.
I arrived there with Thai airways flight from Copenhagen, was a bit confused with the rail link as I did not know of it, so it's like an extended gate building.,check-in, passport control, luggage collection is in original terminal.
A bit of history for new generation. SAS was the airline that used to train THAI pilots/crew during its early days about 60 decades ago. Both airlines cooperated for a few decades before THAI could operate on its own and joined the STAR alliance for some joint ticketing/flight operation.
Yes and then THAI kicked out all the foreigners from the company, so now only Thai citizens can work for them. Not that I have anything against that per se, Thai pilots are very professional, but it's kinda xenophobic, given that even in countries like China, you can find western pilots. Nowadays, not so much anymore as there is no longer as much of a pilot shortage as there once was, but in theory, it's still possible. Although to update this information: a few years ago, THAI did start hiring Asian cabin crew from China, Japan and Korea for use on routes to those countries as Thais generally lack foreign language skills outside of English.
the only continued issue at any terminal is No Moving trolly for seniors…JUST WALK WALK WALK….never seems to be addressed..help seniors get around these big terminals..But thanks nice vlog..
Is the Satellite Terminal friendly for planespotting compared to the Main Building and is the arrival hall of the Satellite Terminal also good for planespotting?
Great video thanks for uploading.I was unaware of this system until I arrived yesterday and thought I was in the wrong airport😂.Transfer to immigration was swift but sadly the baggage took 2 hours 30 minutes to arrive at belt.Apparently the rain was to blame ? Hopefully the baggage transfers will improve soon.
Interesting We are going to fly with Qatarairway in their 380 from BKK Don't know if we are going to fly from the new terminal I can't see if we have a lounge there or if we are going to use one of the lounges in the old terminal
I'll be flying Thai Airways from London to Suvarnabhumi in April. Looking forward to using the new terminal - it looks so new and clean 😁I'm assuming that you still need to go to the 'old' terminal if you want to catch the Airport Rail Link?
SAT1 is main terminal extension. It's not have migration and airline lobby for feed your bags. In the future the second main terminal will construct in south side of airport area. Actually it will has SAT2 same thing. So APM train will through and connect main1, SAT1, SAT2 and main2 (in next plan airport upgrade). 😅
@@Iceyfire12 because in airport master plan they want to separate ground side and air side service for development. In 3-5 years next plan Suvarnabhumi can expand main terminal building from East and west side. There was enough time to support groud side service. Waiting for new Terminal 2 building on the southern side of the airport area.
@@AnonChiranukulpipat There's not really enough space to expand the main terminal on the east or west side. On the southern side, coming from Bang Na-Trad road, yes. That's where any expansion should be targeted.
Seems that not all Thai Airways flights are departing from the new terminal. I flew from BKK to MAA on March, 5th with Thai Airways still from the old terminal 🤷♂️

Thai Airway used old terminal for some countries . But especially Thai Airway for Scandinavian countries line used new terminal(SAT1). Of course Sweden,Denmark,Finland,Norway they used new terminal.
Typical Thai sloppiness: When you take the escalator up from the Terminal train, notice how the walls have not been cleaned properly after construction finished. A lack of attention to detail that would never happen at SIN or ZRH. “We clean the floor with a grass broom, and that will do.”
Or how they’ve huddled lounge chairs super-close together between some gates, or the lack of power outlets on the fancy (uncomfortable) wooden sitting areas. Or restrooms with misplaced soap, hand dryers and paper towels. But +for the carpets. Overall, just a bunch of small things that underscores that the senior executive at BKK is a local Thai and not a Westerner like at the 5-star hotels/hospitality venues in town that get most things right.
Bangkok is always evolving transportation wise. I miss Thailand a lot.

We left on the 29 feb. And used the new terminal, very nice. Airline was SAS too Copenhagen
I saw Turkish Airlines and some Chinese Airlines are also using this new terminal as well

A big step forward in managing the city's high volumes of airport traffic ✈️✈️✈️
Looks easy to reach the new Terminal, the first video I saw about it, thank you for showing us, 😊🇹🇭👍🏼safe trip ครับ
Yes, you just need a ticket that has S as a gate for boarding. As mine was.
Thank you Jeroen! I wish you a nice trip . Bangkok is changig so quickly and here in Berlin, they need 14 years to built a (small) Airport 😅
Yeah, but the roof won't blow off or allow rain through it! 😄
In Thailand they need 50 years to finish a highway called Rama 2 road. It still hasn't been finished and won't be for probably 10 or more years.
Suvarnabhumi airport took 50 years to complete, from conception to the first flight.
good informations, thanks for this, i like the airport and I was not in the new terminal

Starlux, Emirates also use SAT-1 and third runway will soon finish early next year. So it can handle more flight at peak time.
Very excited for the new terminal 😊

It is almost virtually identical to the transit train at Heathrow T5 that also has satellite buildings with gates.

Qatar airways too😊
I just looked it up because I fly Austrian this month. And they seem to arrive and depart there too.
Where do you catch this rail/tram from ? In the old terminal from I mean?
At the entrance. You know where you have the big statue. The entrance to thextrain is right behind it.

Good video, you said you were late waiting for re-entry permit? How many minutes did the permit take?

although i arrived in october and left in april
Это наверно всё-таки concorse, a не полноценный terminal ?
What happened to the Orange line? I thot it was completed last year?
The government will open for bidding for the train operator this year. While almost all of the construction is finished.
A long walk is good, we can see the whole terminal. Thanks again. How much was the reentry permit at the airport?
It's 1200 bath.

this is only a new gate terminal for airplane everything else is still located at the main terminal like immigration, baggage claim, check in etc

I saw a video that Air Canada landed there recently. If Thai Air is there, maybe all Star Alliance airlines will use this terminal?
Confirmed this is terminal 2 - i flew Air Canada BKK- YVR Feb 29 thru gate S111.
Terminal 2 will be a future expansion east of the current main terminal. The S-gates are part of the S-1 Building (S for satellite).

Wow Bangkok have better trains than the US
Lol. This is simply an airport mover and it's brand new as well.
I find Cityval/neoval/airval horrible alstom metropolis would have been better since its the best metro system in the world
The long walk airport.
Oh, I've been at much longer walk airports.
Are Vietjet only using this new terminal for international departures/arrivals, or are they also now using it for domestic?
This terminal for international departure only
Where you going ?
the train only for deparature? or also arrival?
I took it both ways: arriving to BKK and departing from BKK.
At the airport, my passport photo looks like a wanted poster.
😂
Is this after the passport control check for departure?
Yes
I understand it's one way only once u go down there u can't come back?
Yes, that's why they need to check your boarding pass before you get on a train.

Aaah, the dreaded re-entry permit…
Just get a 3800 Baht multiple entry permit when you get your annual visa extension.
I’m tired of public transport 95 % of people have there hands with a cellphone 😅
And in Thailand, they're also masked too. Thais absolutely love wearing their muzzles. So brainwashed.
FELIFE-no voters & FELIFE-no politicians, they rather love the 2002 airport era
I love thailand but it kind of looks like rblx copy
Hopefully it will help because that airport has the worst arrival and departure passport and customs in SE Asia.
