I just bought a 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk a month ago. If you slow down it won’t downshift from 3 unless you come to a complete stop. It is flat out dangerous because if you pull out into traffic it won’t go. I am fighting with everything I have with the dealer. They basically refuse to acknowledge the issue. I am so close to hiring a lawyer if they don’t take this car back.
I took a black on black sport on a test drive and it was flawless didn’t have any problems I was afraid it wouldn’t be able to get out into traffic but it did and it was quick smooth and ready to dance. But if course it was new lol but I see people are still buying these heels I think you guys might have just got a bad one that might need servicing or a program flash
I worked on a contract overseas and the company leased an entire fleet of Jeep Cherokees along with the Compass. Every single Cherokee had transmission issues. They often shift an random intervals and would lurch the vehicle ahead when shifting from 4th to 5th. Absolute worst modern vehicle I have ever driven. What's sad is that when visiting home, I see these everywhere.
I bought my 2016 TH 3.2 9spd a couple months ago…full service history from Jeep, the owner keep all records, and certified from Jeep. Knock on wood, no issues yet. Tech is great to have and mine has everything, even parks itself. These issues are all computer related for the most part and updates thankfully have resolved most of them…well, except for the rear driver side squeaky seat…have to either fold it down or have someone sit in it lol. Going to grab a can of dry silicone spray and hope for the best. At the end of the day, price we pay for all the goodies we demand. I am just going to hope that I don’t run into some of the issues mentioned above. 🤞
I have the exact same problem with my 2018 keep Cherokee, only has 40k on the odometer, I bought this vehicle brand new off the lot, and almost got into two major accidents trying to get home. Now that I am home the vehicle will not start, and the horn keeps honking like its getting broke into, I had to unhook the battery to shut it off ( key fob won't connect). Replaced key fob battery and reconected the battery and still wont stop honking or start.
Brakes are locked up and my engine is disabled, had it towed to the Jeep dealership and it's been there a month now and no progress. They can not figure it out, very dangerous vehicle.

This is 2021 and this a gotdamn shame this shit still happening to ALL these Cherokees. Someone I know just paid theirs off like 5 months ago and now this is happening.
I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit with 120k now and i was having similar issues were my 4WD light and Brake light would come on and my Transmission would start making very slugish shifting into gear from a dead stop and making very odd noises like it wasnt not engaging all the way. It sounded like my Transmission was gone. After some research on youtube i found out it was the TCM (Transfer Control Module ) for the transfer case and the OEM part is around 4 to 500 dollars but on Amazon I was able to purchase reluctantly a aftermarket TCM which had a 30 day warranty and its right under the drivers seat opposite of the battery compartment which is under the passenger seat which was basically a plug and play in and out replacement that took me less than 10 mins and under $110 and I did it myself and im disabled and money 💰 is a factor to me so it was very helpfull. I did disconnect the battery first before changing out the plug and play module which is only about 5in x 6in x 2in and the results were INSTANT 😳 IT WORKED 💪 I could not believe it. That never happens. The Jeep Ran better than ever and all lights went out and it shifted perfect again. Note: 4 months later the BRAKE light and 4WD light came on again on the dash intermittently but the Jeep was running fine but the intermittent light issue was becoming more frequent and it was bothering me knowing most likely it was that aftermarket cheap part i put it and I called Amazon Prime and they not the 3rd party seller backed me up with a Amazon Credit minus a $20 restocking fee which i could not complain about, they were more than fair about it. You just have to CALL THEM they will make it right in most cases. I ended up buying a OEM part for $250 new on Ebay and since they 👌 runs great. Hopefully no more Nightmares ahead. I dont drive it much anymore only when i have to its in excellent condition for a 2011 to bad they had those Transmission issues. I hope this information helps others if yours has that BRAKE light 4WD issue and it sounds like your Transfer Case just Blew out. There still may be Hope! I thought i was facing a $5000 that ended up being only a few hundred. Thats a rare situation probably the only time in my 45 year driving carrier but I was definitely grateful 🙏 for it. It would have been one helluva Boat Anchor in my driveway
Modern day cars have all kinds of sensors that can dictate what the car does based on their diagnosis. The service airbag fault might be causing the car to not want to drive, for the safety of the driver.. so it disengages the transmission and stuff. I mean, that may be a possibility, I ran into a similar issue and the car refuse to speed up and was gradually slowing down. Nothing was wrong with the transmission, just the car excecuting a safety measure to protect itself and or the diver. Still is dangerous tho for cars to do such things out of nowhere
I have 76k on my 2017 Cherokee, v6 4wd model. In the shop now due to the transmission shifting hard or skipping gears. It’s never cut off though or stopped working.
Mine does the same thing I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it tho that’s just how these transmissions are they ride rough Dodge makes shitty transmissions.
I’m having the same issue but after googling enough, the dealer needs to flash set the system. Basically a software update. I am going to a dealer soon.
@@regisnyder we tried the flash 4 times never fixed the issue. Jeep finally put a new trans in, but now havin EVAP problems. Cant fill the tank full or car stalls until EVAP empties itself. about 20 miles of hectic driving
Yes and we did an oil consumption test. They then replaced my transmission and engine. It still sometimes leaks and burns oil. They say nothing is wrong with it.
They’ve also replaced the fuel pump, Power transfer unit and other expensive and important parts. My states statue of limitations is up for lemon law so I can’t do anything about it.
Not saying this is the case but was there a clean carfax? Any accidents or flood damage reported? A lot time dealers will sell salvaged vehicles and of course there’s electrical issues especially in newer cars. Also if you have the Uconnect service it will update on its own without having to take it into the dealer. That being said it definitely has some major issues and I would not try to drive it at all until the issues are resolved.

A new car will shift slightly different than an older car that’s been driven by the same person for a while. Ami Jangana I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee and same thing happened to me they reprogrammed my computer and now it works
Interesting! More proof in the pudding.

My 2021 stalled on me this morning. I’m hurt because this was my dream car
How is ended up your Jeep transmission story? I have a 2018 trailhawk and I am wondering if I gonna face with this issue too
I have a 2017 and had a recall done for software update have had no issues sense

Same issues here. Just picked it up from the dealer and they said there was no code and this is about the tenth time this has happened and 9 of those times it's been on the busiest f-ing freeway (101). @@marvinlewis1879 What was the cause?
Same here as well, they end up replacing the gear
Modern day cars have all kinds of sensors that can dictate what the car does based on their diagnosis.
The service airbag fault might be causing the car to not want to drive, for the safety of the driver.. so it disengages the transmission and stuff.
I mean, that may be a possibility, I ran into a similar issue and the car refuse to speed up and was gradually slowing down. Nothing was wrong with the transmission, just the car excecuting a safety measure to protect itself and or the diver. Still is dangerous tho for cars to do such things out of nowhere
Why would the car put the driver in even more danger just because of an airbag malfunction
I have a 2015 trailhawk edition and this has happened to me a handful of times, took it to Jeep and they said there was nothing wrong 😑
I’m having the same issue but after googling enough, the dealer needs to flash set the system. Basically a software update. I am going to a dealer soon.

I am having the same issue. They keep fixing it but it's not actually fixed.
@@bklynphotobabe00 Let me ask you this, is your oil low or needs to be changed?
Yes and we did an oil consumption test. They then replaced my transmission and engine. It still sometimes leaks and burns oil. They say nothing is wrong with it.
They’ve also replaced the fuel pump, Power transfer unit and other expensive and important parts. My states statue of limitations is up for lemon law so I can’t do anything about it.
It’s the wiring in the shifter it wear out around 100,000 miles I had to replace mine trans is good still
Not saying this is the case but was there a clean carfax? Any accidents or flood damage reported? A lot time dealers will sell salvaged vehicles and of course there’s electrical issues especially in newer cars. Also if you have the Uconnect service it will update on its own without having to take it into the dealer. That being said it definitely has some major issues and I would not try to drive it at all until the issues are resolved.
I appreciate that Freddy N. Car fax was clean, but I got rid of the car a few months ago.l, totally turned off from the Jeep Cherokee line only.

It’s software, had the same issue and they updated and it worked fine
Can you do a video explaining why ?
Mustafaljuboori not a mechanic or a software engineer but car computers try and learn driving behavior. A new car will shift slightly different than an older car that’s been driven by the same person for a while. My guess is because the car can already change how it shifts, a software glitch that tries to shift the car into park isn’t unreasonable. I’d love to really know what’s up though
