I noticed the camera focused on Virbac Revive & I am wondering if Virbac Revive can be given to a chicken with diarrhea? I have a 10.5 month old hen who has had chronic diarrhea since November. She has recently been diagnosed with Gapeworm & has been treated with Safeguard for goats. That did not cure the diarrhea. Any advice on what to use to treat would be wonderful as I have tried many other home remedies. Thank you!

Diarrhoea is so common in chooks, and is (in my experience) the minority of the time due to gut worms. With gut worms we often just see wasting in young birds. In saying that her age wound lend itself to worms. Yes, Revive can be used. There are specifically formulated avian electrolytes available on the market, but what we're looking for is the bicarb component to offset electrolyte loss out the back end, which Revive will do. You can drop in a fresh, chilled sample of faeces to a vet clinic for them to actually check for parasites. Other considerations in this age would be coccidia, which you can pick treatment up for over the counter (eg baycox or coxiprol I think it's called). You could also try a different wormer just as aviverm, or flubenol (flubenol should be double dosed to kill gapeworm). Otherwise having her seen by an avian vet of course. Check out the latest episode on performing an indepth clinical exam of a chicken, that may point you in the rigth direction if there's something more sinister going on.
